  1. For anyone here into the 32-bit era of 2D platformers, a friend and I have been developing one in that style called Necrolepsy. I posted a preview of the music, the whole Stage 1 theme. If you like it then please share it where possible, because marketing is a pain!

  2. Anyone in the US interested in buying my copy of Kuon on PS2 for $180 + shipping (should be about $4)? Asking again before I might toss it on eBay since I just wanna sell the darn thing. It's complete and works fine.

What listing are you seeing at $1,000? I've seen some crazy people buy it for over $300 but never a listing at that much.

I thought $180 seemed fair since the game averages around $250 .

  3. http://kiblitzing.blogspot.com/2018/02/component-conundrum.html Anybody know how to get a decent picture out of a Sega Genesis? I mean, without selling my hypothetical first born or breaking out the power tools.

malrak - You'll have to wait for them to restock. I'm guessing it'll be a month or two, they'll probably restock to coincide with the launch of their PS1 Component adapter.

Also, verify that your LCD TVs actually support the 240p signal of the Genesis/MD. A lot of them don't - the only one I own that does is a Samsung. http://www.hdretrovision.com/240p/#test

That Scart to Component converter won't work because you need to transcode the video from RGB SCART to YPbPr (Component). Look into buying one of Specialty AV's converters.

...or alternately, you could take the HDR pill and just buy their darned cables already. I did it two years ago and have no regrets - they're absolutely phenomenal.

  6. Anyone know of any good places to list games aside from here, local sites, and eBay/Amazon? Trying to sell what I need to so I can buy the last few bits of music equipment I want but sales are slow. :

@jd - I already use offerup, though I've never sold anything on it because everyone likes to do crazy lowballs.

@onemoretime - never heard of something like that and I've never seen anything like it. Sounds interesting though!

Bah, I didn't mean to add the colon to the end of that post. Still getting used to the layout of this new keyboard.

  8. I thought about maybe buying an MT-32 since I wanted to play around with LA synthesis, and then I saw the prices are around $200 or more. They were just $100 a year or two ago, did YouTubers talking about them seriously raise the prices THAT much?

    1. NoelleAmelie

      NoelleAmelie

I just looked at sold listings - someone seriously paid $1,000 for an LAPC?!

What's weird about all this to me is that I don't think a lot of people even need a real MT-32. Lots of games, like ones from LucasArts, only use the original sound bank. I just finished Dark Forces on my SC-88 Pro in CM-64/MT-32 mode and it sounds exactly the same as a real MT-32.

  9. Bad luck with shipping lately... USPS lost a package, and now UPS has yet to deliver a package that's been out for delivery for 10 hours. This is the longest I've had to wait for a package from them :/

    1. NoelleAmelie

      NoelleAmelie

Man, that's lame! A charred package would have been an awesome souvenir. >:(

  10. I've started watching the current season of Rick and Morty.A lot of the reviews thatI see say it is brillant, deep and profound. And maybe I am just too old or need to start watching from S1 E1, but I don't get that. Yeah and is funny and clever than pretty much any adult oriented cartoon on right now -- but I think some of the praise it gets is WAAY OTP.

    1. NoelleAmelie

      NoelleAmelie

Rick and Morty has some clever writing but it's definitely not profound at all. I think people are just looking way too deep into it.

      NoelleAmelie

No way I'd ever spend that much on a smartphone, and I don't know why anyone else would outside of sheer stupidity and/or brand loyalty.

  12. Saw a JVC X'eye at a thrift store for $50 today... part of me feels like I missed out on a great deal, but the other part is telling me I'd never use it. Also, it costs 50 precious dollars that I could use to buy a game that I'd actually play, or a console I'd actually use.

    1. NoelleAmelie

      NoelleAmelie

There's a huge difference between a free $100 bill (which I'd totally take) and a game console, but I get what ya mean. I think I'm just way too optimistic and kind with how I view random peoples intentions, but I'd rather that over being pessimistic like I used to be.

Also I don't really care to buy stuff with the intention of reselling. Too much hassle, and I know that finding something like that may make someone else really happy.

I prefer the physical console as well, I just don't like buying and owning stuff that I'm never gonna use. I already have two good Mega Drives, and there's no CD games that I feel I just *have* to play. :P

SEGA CD stuff has gotten way too expensive for me to even consider owning one, and the consoles seem like a nightmare to maintain.

  16. Opinion of Strikers 1945 for Playstation , too hard ?

    1. NoelleAmelie

      NoelleAmelie

Okay here's the deal: Strikers 1945 1 for the PS1 is Japan only. Strikers 1945 2 for the PS1 is worldwide, but the US version of 1945 2 was renamed to Strikers 1945.

  17. Playing through Tomb Raider (1996) again for a review. Not having as much fun as I did the first time around, since I keep forgetting to save. Still a fun game though, just gonna remember to save!

      NoelleAmelie

Playing the PC version with some patches to make it run with the PS1 music and in widescreen. Probably the definitive version of the game, aside from being capped at 30FPS.

I was gonna comment on the Shantae thing as well but MegaManFan beat me to the punch. I think we may have accidentally killed a *SEEEEEEALED!!!!!* collector.

  22. Debating as to whether or not I should buy a Component switcher. It'd be nice to just press a button and switch systems, but at the same time I'm basically paying $20 + power costs for convenience and slightly less (if not negligable?) wear and tear on my cables and TVs inputs.

    1. NoelleAmelie

      NoelleAmelie

@Trekker Yeah, the hassle of changing cables is what's really making me wanna buy one. My setup is a mess right now so reaching around for cables is annoying.

I don't think I'd need as many as you have, heh; I only need a single 4x1 or 3x1 unit to handle all of my consoles (PS2/GEN/Xbox).

Reminds me that I need to start playing the ACE and SRW games. I have a Japanese PS2 and a copy of ACE 1, I just need to get around to watching all of the shows featured in it.
