  1. I'm pretty sure, the redesign was quick, and that's why they didn't think things through.

They've been pumping out so many items, that a lot has slipped between the cracks.

    ===

As far as Q and A goes, this is a new development that came out after a lot of these were announced and released.

At least they're trying to address the software issues now. The hardware really can't be changed at this late of a stage.

Maybe their future cabinets will have improvements.

I have voiced my opinions about things that they have done in the past, and I stand by that there aren't enough people

that are good enough at most of these games to care about issues like button placement. If it can be fixed by software,

then it is possible to update.

    --

I have reported problems and issues with games to developers at : Steam, Namco, Microsoft, Konami, Williams, and pretty much every

    company with emulators.

NOT ONE SINGLE ONE HAS EVER RESPONDED.

Arcade 1up is the first company that has bothered to try to attempt this kind of a program, and at least they are willing to listen.

Things are finally starting to move along. I'm probably still 2+ weeks out. I still have to:

    - Calibrate/test each controller

    - Make/print the mounting templates

    - Assemble the mounting hardware

    - Print up a few more boxes

    - Put a video together showing it in action

All twelve units are now accounted for!

When I started out on this project I was trying to make a more cost effective Major Havoc roller controller that would easily work with MAME. It wasn't as easy as I though it would be (a lot of trial and error), but I think I've achieved what I set out to do. The price for this controller is going to be $75.00 plus shipping (includes hook-ups for two buttons). To put that in perspective, that's a quarter of the price of the current offerings for a controller like this. I will be contacting every person on my list when I'm ready to ship. After that, I guess I will start a new list. :)

For now here's a picture I took of all the assembled Master Havoc USB wheel controller units:

    MH_layout.thumb.jpg.c97b8ffb3fab60fb6493da0c18bd709c.jpg

Yes, that's 13 units. One is an extra for myself. I personally like the "Red" controller. So as you guys can see, one person did want a controller with a different colored wheel. Unfortunately, nobody wanted a "Black" wheel.

    So, more to come...

Great. Glad to hear about the progress, and looking forward to it.

Other than the layout forcing you to play Missile Command with your left hand on the trackball....eh.

Perhaps DIYRetroarcade will release a fixed panel for it.

    Guess you weren't paying attention:

I doubt there are any expert players that it will make a difference. I can get to about 100k.

But I know that you will only need to worry about the delta base missiles after level 8 to pick off the smart bombs.

Most players aren't good enough, and won't care.

  4. I'll be getting it at some point. Will fix the button layout somehow.

I'm part of their official Q and A team now, so can't say too much more about the process.

I do report all the current issues [hardware and software], and potential future software issues to them.

Whether they want to fix them, which is mostly software ones, is up to them.

The design is what it is.

I thought with some time, the price would maybe go down?  Looks as though it went up $20 though to $149 for the Pong experience.

Theres on ebay with no bids for $99, and another one sold for that amount. Another sold for $125, but then there was a crazy one that

    went for over $200.

I like the PacMan Countercade I bought a couple of weeks ago so much, that today I picked up a Centipede model. Just spent about 30 minutes playing Centipede, and really like it.  I also tried out the included Missile Command, and it wasn't so great.  The problem is that by the time they squeeze its 4:3 landscape layout onto the portrait display, the bottom and top couple of inches of the screen go unused.  I think they should have gone with a portrait game that uses trackball instead.

I still don't know why they didn't put millipede on there. I had one, and gave it away to a friend.

This was after throwing away the trashy trackball, which is useless, and replacing it with Glens trackball,

    which plays so much better.

I recently got the Namcot Collection (asia-eng) release in a trade, realized it was half of what this topic has which is the 8bit version of Pacman CE.  I really wish Gaplus was on there, but being outside my region I can't even add games to the shelf on the thing either, it's not sold physical locally, and the digital price I'd need at least a 50% off sale to tempt me.

I'm kind of surprised how decent the PM CE game turned out given the downgrade to 8bit standard NES style limitations.

Its not that hard to do scrolling mazes, and color palette changes. Maybe the music was the hardest part.

Their biggest investment into a non-Mortal Kombat Midway arcade game is making that dumb Rampage movie.  It would be nice if WB cared more about the old arcade games that they control.

The Rampage movie actually made sense, concerning the plot, and putting all the videogame references in it.

Mortal Kombat movies have had their ups and downs, but the animated ones are very good, as was the webisodes.

The new movie might be ok.

This item is finally back on the AtGames e-store for full price ($30), but it’s not clear if this product has undergone any updates.  Also, it’s unknown whether any of the usual retailers might carry it, hopefully at a discount.

    @Bill Loguidice ?

I'm not sure it needed any updates. I've never updated mine.

Also, just keep looking on ebay, or amazon, how much cheaper do you want it to get.

That's pretty cheap already for what it does.

All of which is fine.  Being perfectly honest here, I really have no interest in either his or Arcade 1UP's cabinets, but I am always interested in seeing different (or reproduction) designs for arcade controls.

I've installed and used the Ultimarc ServoStik a couple of times in the past, and was pretty impressed with its quality.  It'd be interesting from my perspective to see how this one compares.

When compared to prosumer, and arcade quality, the price is always the factor.

If you spend more, you're getting a hopefully much better product.

So Glen's will fit the more budget conscious consumer, with good quality hardware.

The problem is that I haven't found anywhere in Canada that sells PartyCades, yet there are at least a dozen different chains that carry the CounterCade.

If you can recommend either a Canadian seller or an American retailer that won't charge a fortune for shipping, please let me know.

There are always several on Ebay, but I wouldn't pay more than $200 for them. Some are around that price range.

Wow! -- this is easily the most un-ergonomic "joystick" that I have ever seen. Is it really intended to be a functional system or just some bizarre display piece?

I would pay Cdn$10 (US$7.96) just for the novelty of the thing, but no more.

Both functions, art piece, and playable.
