Anyone got the inside scoop why that's a problem?
capcom has different licensing rights for asia, europe, japan, and north america.
happens with all their games.

Here are some new and updated all fruit patterns for you dirt lovers to check out. These recordings were done using MAME .220 and the Rev 2 romset (digdig). The dip-switches are set for medium difficulty, 3 lives to start and extras at 10k,40k and every 40k. These patterns should work on any of the Atari/Namco romsets as long as you match the difficulty.
If everything goes right you can score around 553,300 points by the end of round 31 without any other excessive dirt digging.
Rounds 1-11
Dig Dug All Fruit Patterns Playlist

but its amazing, even getting the fruit on the 2nd rock drop at the end of some of the levels.

there were several mentions of pre-orders for it quite awhile ago.
these are limited runs, so they always go up when ebay prices go around.
that said, tempest is still pretty cheap, as its not as popular.

The Atari offering has Defender pictured, but titled Star Ship. And Pole Position says Indy 500. Par for the course today!
probably due to licensing
33 minutes ago, jgkspsx said:While that ridiculous contraption looks really appealing, it’s hard to imagine they got licensing agreements with Atari, Namco, Williams/Midway/Warner Bros, Activision, Konami, AND Taito for this thing. Doesn’t pass the smell test. If it IS for real, Evercade need to work on their license dealmaking game 😜
why wouldn't it be real, arcade 1up had minature mockups of atari, colecovision, and commodore mini units in their 2020
CES, or E3 show.
probably finally just getting them approved.
they also have several new titles coming out in mini-coleco handheld shells at some point.

But yeah, props to them!
Do you mean the screen, or the graphics on the screen.
Neither one is right, and neither one looks good, so I'm not sure what you're commenting on.

I like that it will have multiple games and HDMI out, but moving forward, I think I'll just collect the Atari cabinets in this series. I'm not even sure about Missile Command, although I played the hell out of the 2600 version as a kid and occasionally played the arcade game, it is a real downer of a game.
I've only seen and played this version, maybe it was an american one only:

Arcade 1up selection can be good, but control mapping is terrible. Fortunately the vast majority of players won't have a clue or care,
because its 'paperboy'.
Not like 'star wars' or outrun, etc.

8 hours ago, Tanooki said:Probably I haven't seen Basic Fun there trying very hard anymore as they used to. MyArcade has been at it but these deluxe models with Contra and Space Invaders but the premium price I bet is an instant turn off to most people who aren't die hard fans when you ask $50 for it even if they are well done. I wouldn't drop that on either, but if I ever saw one in a clearance bin, second hand or whatever for like 1/2 or less sure. I liked the $20 price point Basic Fun had, and they didn't even cheap out including batteries, but MyArcade was at $35 and you had to supply your own so I ignored them entirely. I think they both did great work on their NES ROM based choices they gave, and then the later ones such as Spy Hunter which was done from the ground up (though why why why 1 button so it's gun or secondary weapon) or even the increased hacks to NES stuff bringing completeness that Rampage had which added in the missing werewolf.
I think if you're going to get a premium one out there, SNK did it right, so did Sega with their blast city that stayed in Japan annoyingly. Sure they're over $100 when they came out, but the game library and build quality is more in line with that.
They could both re-release everything, and do it right this time. Use the arcade rom, put in a better joystick thats centered, and change the cabinet form to look more like an arcade cabinet, and then I would re-buy everyone of them that I would like.
I don't care about the price, so thats not a factor.
Since I have the Namco classics compilation, I don't ever need to buy another mini arcade again, unless they put out an arcade game version of a game that is not already on there.

it can't possibly be any worse.
14 minutes ago, x=usr(1536) said:I'm not sure if it's just my perception, but it really seems as though the short amount of time between cabinet releases is noticeably resulting in a 'quantity over quality' approach.
the legacy line up is to cover all the old cabinets, and people can get rid of those, and consolidate 3 of them into 1,
it also gives new owners much more bang for their buck. and the quality is much better than the earlier cabinets.

Even their site now states they are not carried in store. Oh well, one less reason for me to go to brick and mortar retail and I don't want one bad enough to try and have it delivered and probably damaged by our inept delivery services.
There are about 60 on ebay right now. Half are decently priced starting at $120.
I bought a used Centipede one for $100, and it was fine.
But there are new, unused ones too.
They're not hard to pack right, and have plenty of protection.
I've gotten 4 partycades, and 3 countercades in the mail. Haven't had one scratch on them during shipping.
I wouldn't go higher than $150 for a brand new one.

I have the 2 game version with super pac-man.
I can get 300,000+ on both games, the joystick is terrible, but ok for casual players.
Will be replacing with an arcade quality joystick though.

Are these tiny screens playable? I love Ms. Pac-Man but an 8” screen just seems rough.countercade 8 inches are fine, since you're sitting right in front of it.
the partycades are 17 inches.
YES, i'm crazy, but i've even played the replicade 4/5 inch screens for tempest and centipede.

20 minutes ago, Tanooki said:Good to know. I just don't have the room at all anymore for party cades (no surface) and wallcade (no empty wall) to house that.
actually, you don't have to give up any room for it. it's only slightly wider than the countercade.
they come with rails, so you can just put it on table, like you do with the countercade, and when
you are done you put it in a closet. or you can put it on a door. you do have a door, right.
there's always ways to make room for it.
the 7 other games are way better than any countercade will have, unless you mod the countercade.
you should do that, there are many kits on ebay, which allow you to connect to the video adapter.
the newer countercades have a different video adapter compared to the old ones.
i will never mount mine on the wall or door though. a table or desk is enough. i even have some on the floor.

i had 3 countercades. down to 1, just dig dug, which being modded.
there are tons of countercades on ebay, and they are getting cleared out in stores like walmart for $60
there is a large thread about countercades and partycades here:
go to hsn or qvc, if you want to buy the 8-1 ms pac-man, pac-man, centipede or asteroids ones.
https://www.qvc.com/Arcade1Up-8-Game-PartyCade-Portable-Home-Arcade-Machine.product.E234105.html
best to wait for a sale, as they usually go for $200
whichi is why they cost more, but have more games, bigger screens, and more room for the controls.

its centipede and missile command. I had one, and gave it away after replacing the terrible trackball in it.
partycades / wallcades have either 4 (gave that one away also), and 8 games on them.

Arcade 1UP - Series 1 Countercades
in Classic Console Discussion
Posted
they won't put that many games on the countercades.
get the partycade instead, most have 8 games on them, better larger screen, more room for the controls, and a much better price for value.
only problem is that some games have control issues, especially the trackball ones.
