Agree on almost all of this fully, what a great event for A1up.

Very seriously drooling on the Tempest cab, for Space Duel largely, but also love having the Trak Ball and Spinner with all those compatible games.  I am likely to buy this cab though I'm short on both $ and space, it just looks too great and fills too many gaming needs to skip.  Only change I would have said would be Black Widow instead of whatever Akka Arrg is, but they're going for all TrakBall / Spinner games so I get that.

akka arrh is a super rare prototype that only recently got emulated, story here:

link should point to the prototypes forum (not working for some reason)

arcade 1ups controls are terrible, you will have to buy a replacement spinner and trackball to play the games properly.

It is a nice collection of games.  Buttons are on the wrong side of the trackball for missile command.

yes, they screwed it up in the picture. these are mockups, hopefully they will change it before release.

The Nintendo logo features in the attract mode and also indicates that Killer Instinct is a trademark of Nintendo, rather than rare.  I think its also on the sideart of the real cab (I noticed it was not on the arcade1up's art).  Wonder if the rom will be edited to take that sort of thing out similar to how Ninja Turtles was edited to replace the traditional intro music from the show - I'd think they'd still need some kind of permission from Nintendo if it still owns the TM for the name.

all references to nintendo have been removed on the home versions.

Not that I wish them any bad fortune, but I kind of expect that particular cabinet to not sell very well - it mainly appeals to people who know the full history of arcade games, not really the Big Buck Hunter crowd - and the price could come down fairly soon after release.

i have yet to see a single cabinet sell for a reduced price. in a major metropolitan city.

    not saying it doesn't happen.

but if they don't reduce them in the 2 years i've looked, i doubt they will now.

Really pumped for the Tempest cab, primarily because I think that particular cab design is a beautiful work of art. I'd love to figure out a mod to get Tempest 2000 on it.  Hopefully the control panel won't look too crowded with the trackball and whatever else they might add to make the other games on the machine playable.

the tempest control panel is an absolute mess, and will confuse and confound anyone that tries to play those games on it.

hopefully they will change it before it comes out.

i'll get it, but i'm already planning on replacing buttons, spinner, trackball, and moving the buttons around.

OMG.  Gotta make room and save some $ for a new cab.  Even though I already own the DC version with DC keyboard, this would be a must buy day 1.

Much less if they do an "OTD" series with light guns, HOTD 1 - 4, and Typing!!

  12. been playing the Myarcade handheld pac-man in MAME

(they've also converted the data east multicade and other titles).

got 3.1 million in pac-man (savestates to continue). anyways, there is no killscreen,

it just goes back to level 1 cherry for level 256.

Nice to know there was other versions.
    Differences i noted:
    1 music before every level
2 the last two intermissions repeat until level 256
3 the 5-8th keys, ghosts don't blink, should blink on 6th key though
4 the 9th key is correct, pac-man moves slowly until level 256
5 NO killscreen, the level goes back to 1, cherry
    (used savestates)
    6 eating a fruit doesn't make a sound
7 eating dot sound is wrong
8 red ghost and purple ghost are switched in position
otherwise, its a pretty good clone of the arcade pac-man

  13. bill,

do you know what the roadmap for arcadenet is this year.

i'm planning on buying the legends core, but i really want to play the Atari arcade games on them.

i know i can add them myself. but being able to buy all the atari vault 1,2,3 games would be perfect.

i am only interested in those games, and online leaderboards, which is the reason i would get it.

currently out of the 100 on there, i'm not interested in those ones.

    MAME 0.227

Game switching now works on Multipede, and Klax bootlegs are playable, with working sound.

To Me, Akka Arrh support was the best thing this year. Followed by all the plug and play support, especially the Namco ones.

I'm trying the multipede game support now, and it seems to be working fine now.
