You can also get them cheaper, if you don't care about the minifigures, and just get the game tokens. later -1 -

Atari Flashback Classics for the XB1/PS4
negative1 replied to Atariboy's topic in Modern Console Discussion
thanks for all the information everyone. i am looking forward to leaderboards for ALL the games, not just the arcade ones. (the console games didn't have leaderboards last time unfortunately) another feature that would be great, is to have replays of the games, that way hackers and cheats would be easier to see. later -1 -

went ahead and started ordering the extra expansion packs with games. so far the ones i need are going for $5-$10 which is not bad at all, on amazon. so far i got the simpsons one, but haven't tried it out yet. should be getting the rest over the course of the next few months. good thing that they're being cleared out now. later -1 -
It's great to hear that you are having good success with it. I would just add that the xbox support is very questionable, and was the cause of my dropping any support or consideration of ever using or supporting X-arcade in the first place. If you ever get it to work, let me know how. Their tech support was useless, and their follow up was the worst I have ever experienced from a tech company. I will never advocate the company or their products. later -1

Obviously, i'm biased, but I will tell you to avoid them like the plague. I wonder if any of their adapters work at all, I am mostly on the XBOX microsoft side, but never got them to work. Maybe you'll have better luck, but just remember they have terrible support if you have any problems. Buyer beware, later -1

Sorry, but i had the exact opposite experience. My cables that they sent me, at my own cost, 6 months ago, were considered not to be refunded, and has been a support nightmare ever since. They have the worst customer support ever that I have dealt with in a tech company. They have been extremely rude, when I was patient, and asked politely for updates. They responded by blocking my emails, banning me from calling, and I have no recourse but legal means, which I won't do, because it's not worth it for the items I sent them back. later -1

Here is my take on my x-arcade single stick. ------------------------------- 1 hardware - excellent 2 configuration - excellent, emulates keyboards, so you can remap easily in MAME, etc 3 buttons - fine, plenty of them 4 ease of use - moderate, took awhile to figure out which switches to adjust, and then to get working. i bought mine several years, and never had a problem with it for windows games ============================================================== Problems: -------------------- i bought mine for use with and XBOX 360, and NEVER got it to work. i talked to their tech support, and they said they would ship the proper cables, those didn't work, and was never able to use them. I thought maybe they fixed them for the XBOX ONE, so i tried to get those cables, and adapters. NONE OF THEM EVER WORKED either. Tech support and Company ======================================================================= This is by far the WORST company I have EVER had to deal with, They have terrible customer support, never refunded me for the cables that I sent them back, banned me from using their customer support (which is 3rd party in Europe), never replied to my emails and wouldn't take my phone calls I WILL NEVER BUY OR SUPPORT ANYTHING THAT IS X-ARCADE related again, (maybe i should tell you how i really feel). this company is a rip-off artist, and and worst a scam company. Anything you buy from them is at your own risk. later -1

not online, or having DRM issues. but there were still glitches, bugs, freezes, and other problems that couldn't be fixed, because the games couldn't be updated. also, the games were magnitudes of order simpler than current ones. cartridges also limited the complexity and size of games, would never want to go back to 8/16/32 megs cartridges. later -1

Nintendo is no better. they have tiny space on their machines, and you still have to download patches. also some games are so big, you have to buy an SD card to put the whole game on it. all modern systems are like this. you either get used to or live with it. i have an xbox 360, and had a 20g drive, which i got a newer version and bought a 320g drive for $20, i have never even come close to filling it. later -1

hmmm. didn't mean to double post. (can't delete duplicate) the game has sandbox modes, where you can create your own designs in 2d and 3d models, and export them. pretty neat. later -1

you are correct, you have to get the pack, and download the updates to get access to all those arcade games in the main levels. i've never played the game without the add-on pack, but thats how this one worked. later -1 -

blasteroids has never been in a williams arcade emulation ever. from the various FAQ's found online: i am getting 3 non-Williams packs: ========================================================== Back to the future - 720 other 8 Back to the Future! Simpsons - Cyberball: 2072 other 3 The Mysterious Voyage of Homer Portal 2 - -KLAX other 4 Aperture Science 12 are found in the Williams arcade pack. The rest are scattered in the main game. sure, no problem, i just have to dig through some containers to find them again. later -1 -
A very cool puzzle game : Engare http://store.steampowered.com/app/415170/Engare/ $6.99 Engare is a game about motion and geometry. Part puzzle game, part drawing tool, Engare is all about your geometric imagination. By selecting a point on a moving object, players trace delicate shapes in the air and hopefully match the target glyph for that level. It’s a meditation on the dynamics of simple machines and the beauty buried deep within repeating motion. The game also offers a sandbox where players can draw their own geometric shapes and patterns using the systems introduced in the game. It allows the player to export their drawings as images or 3D models. later -1

just to update this with some information since the dimensions part is going offline: i always play offline, i don't have a gold account, and i never use multiplayer either. so, in this case, you need the online part to get the updates and patches (which are always there), and the rest of the game plays in single player mode as normal. i haven't checked 100% of it, but i plan to get back to it, since i haven't unlocked all the arcade games yet. there are 3 that need extra expansion packs, and maybe now they are dirt cheap, and i might get them too. we'll see. so, in conclusion, you should be fine with whatever version you get, you will miss out on the all online stuff though. the game emulations are accessed through a hub, but you have to go through the game to unlock them, and that will take some time. later -1 -
XBox One X came out today, thoughts?
negative1 replied to djour's topic in Modern Console Discussion
i'm a huge microsoft fan, so its cool that they are putting this out. i'm all for the advancement of technology, especially frame rates, resolution and HDR colors. on the other hand, i am sticking with the xbox 360, and have no plans on ever upgrading to xbox one. i am still using a 720p television, and at other times a vga monitor for gaming. (My pc has an ultrawidescreen monitor thats higher resolution). So, yeah if a friend gets it (i know one person, but they don't have a 4k tv), i will check it out. Other than that, i see no point in ever getting one or in any of the games that use those features so i will wait another decade or so, when it might be affordable to try it out. (i usually wait a generation or two before trying a game system nowadays). later -1 -
i'm not a parent, but i don't see any problem with these kind of toys. if you're stucking buying them all, then you didn't set any limits, and it's your own fault if you want to collect them. besides, if you're really want them, get them used on ebay or amazon for cheap. i bought the base set used, and the arcade one also, just to get the arcade games, that was it. never had an interest in getting any other ones, or even playing or making them. in fact you can still play the game without making any of them, just use the tokens on the base set. later -1

the point i'm trying to make is that as is normal practice in the arcade industry, when you have a hit title, the proper way to monetize it is to release another sequel in the arcades, which was standard practice in the 80's. when the vast majority of games of that list that i mentioned had sequels, i'm not sure why you don't think there were 'very few' back then. home ports came much later, and while indicative, any game could have a port to console, whether it was a hit or not, so that really doesn't mean much. looking at the list of top games, shows that the real hits - ============================================ pac man - ms pac man asteroids - asteroids deluxe donkey kong - donkey kong junior space invaders - space invaders deluxe etc, etc being a vector game, or color vector didn't really matter. look at asteroids, it had 2 sequels.... and atari had more quirky titles like quantum (another underrated game).. they also could have made a raster based sequel, much like blasteroids (which is great). too. so format is not an excuse for not making another title. jeff minter has been the sole champion of the game, i have seen no effort from atari, or anyone else to resurrect the game or keep it in the publics eye since the time it came out. later -1
