  1. good, that liberator bug always bothered me. i never could get that far playing from level 1, (which you have to do for MARP), so that's why i couldn't test it. you can choose which level to start from in the game if you continue, so i'll have to check that out. there is a still a bug with minor graphical glitches of sprites staying on the screen though. the ROMS are supplied by the manufacturer. NAMCO supplied the ROMS for all the NAMCO games, SEGA for the SEGA games, etc. They only used an early version of MAME for the rampage, atari 12-1, asteroids, centipede machines. everything else has been MOO, or others, such as the ones code mystics did for Star Wars, NBA Jam, and now Outrun. They don't need MAME, because they already have their own emulation and options they want, without all the overhead. Most games dont support dipswitches, scanlines, etc. later -1
  2. Personally, I can't stand force feedback, and vibration, and always turn it off, its annoying and gimmicky. Also, it wasn't force feedback in the original, it was just vibration apparently. The wear and tear, and the added cost make it impractible, especially with the expensive cost of it. The cabinet is almost sold out, and I'm sure the standup will sell very well too. later -1
  3. Some of that might be true. But I trust the companies with the licenses. Star Wars was never quite right in MAME (wrong colored flashes), and is proper in Arcade 1UP. Liberator has a bug which doesn't allow play after a certain level (Never fixed in MAME), code mystics fixed it in all their versions. I've played the MAME version of Akka Arrh, so I'll know whether there are changes in an officially emulated version. I don't know Maze Invaders closely enough to see the differences between the MAME version, and the official Atari Flashback version either. So whether they got the Rom from somewhere doesn't really matter. If they had it on their own, it would be exactly the same as the dump, because it's the same information. It's all about how you use it. considering that only a handful of people would have ever heard about it, i doubt its much of a selling point. i only got it because i knew what it was. most people will play it once, and probably never play it again, and go back to centipede or missile command. later -1

  5. Does anyone know how Maze Invaders was licensed also to the Atari Flashback Volume 3 digital collection. It is from 1981. https://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=18871 That was another prototype game that was eventually released after not being commercial either. Another great game that I'm enjoying on the XBOX one now. later -1
  6. Arcade 1up only used Mame in gen 1 cabinets about 2 years ago. Ever since then, they've redone all the emulation through MOO. These are standalone custom emulators that only work with those particular ROMS. Once I get the machine, I will see what the copyrights and trademarks say about it. later -1
  7. this brings up interesting questions. so atari had the code, and licensed out the rom. they wrote their own emulator of course to run it. also, what does this mean for other unreleased games (marble madness 2) does this mean they might come out too. did the rom owner have a part to play in all this. questions, questions. later -1
  8. Of course. I'm pretty sure i've played all dig dug spinoffs. later -1
  9. if anyone has a centipede replicade for sale or trade: later -1
  10. 1 lightly used QVC 4-1 Centipede Partycade, or 2-1 Ms. Pac-Man Countercade Would like a working Centipede Replicade. Let me know if you have one. later -1

  12. 3 new partycades from HSN (ugh), I will be getting the centipede 8-1 for akka arrh, and ms pac-man: https://www.hsn.com/products/arcade1up-8-in-1-pac-man-partycade-arcade-with-8-games/9647340 ms pac-man centipede 8-1 later -1
  13. I think there was always a demand for Pac-Games. It's hard to get tired, when they come out with a side scroller, or a hybrid pinball game. SO how is that the same. Its a completely different genre. Although baby pac-man did have the maze elements in it too. later -1
  14. Akka Arrh, officially released. Atari License. Excellent. Will have it next week and report back. https://www.hsn.com/products/arcade1up-8-in-1-centipede-partycade-arcade-with-8-game/9647339 Looking forward to it. later -1
  15. centipede, tempest, street fighter 2, dragons lair, asteroids, 1942, missile command, ?, ?, ? later -1
  16. tempest replicade : day 3, spent 2 more hours with it, played several games, 1 game took about 45 minutes or so, and got up to the yellow levels, with some continues in the reds... score : 273k round : 34 So at this point, i probably won't get much further, because it will take weeks to get better, and get to the light blue levels, the invisible levels, and the green levels. (which i've never gotten to without savestates). anyways, the dial is fine on it, and the buttons are the real issue, so forget about ever trying to master it. will keep an eye out for centipede, and eventually dig dug, if it ever comes out. later -1
  17. i got the replicade tempest on monday. due to work and other things. i have had 2 full hours to play it, including another hour today. there's nothing to note about the cabinet or the game, that hasn't been said already, by pretty much everyone: 1) quality - excellent 2) artwork - excellent 3) sound - very good 4) price - expensive 5) weight - light for its size 6) spinner - two sizes, incremental 2 things to note: i think default out of the box, is the initial version a) apparently there is lag b) apparently there is some inertia effect I didn't notice either one. not sure which version you had, but you never mentioned a firmware upgrade if you go through these steps : https://newwavetoys.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/43000490770-tempest-firmware-update-to-address-gameplay-lag it 'fixes the issues' i did NOT do this. =========================================================== ergonomics - terrible, this is a toy, meant to be put on a shelf and looked at and not played seriously start buttons - miniscule fire button - miniscule super zapper - miniscule small spinner - tiny larger spinner - still too small spacing - is scale to arcade, but here, feels very cramped, and for an adult trying to use the 'spinner' is futile, because your hand will rub against the right side. (for comparison my arcade has the reverse problem with your hand hitting the left side panel, to use a joystick) ============================================================== gameplay thoughts after 2 hours of playing. -------------------------------------------------- i had to pretty much put my right arm, and elbow vertically upwards to use the spinner in some way. day 1 - hour 1 =============================================================== the first several games i played (starting at level 7) lasted a few waves. after about a half hour, i got to level 16, the last of the blue waves, and scored about 110k, most games lasted about 10-15 minutes. some games i restarted from 7, others i continued from higher levels to keep going on. day 2 - hour 2 (today) ================================================================ after kind of getting used to the spinner, it took about 20 minutes to get up to the red levels (level 17), and the rest of the half hour, played the game until about level 20 before calling it quits to write this review, and take a screenshot of scoreboard. Got to 134k : Verdict : you can play games that range from 5 min-30 min easily, if you start from the beginning, i think my highest game i played for about 20 minutes to get the high score. Spinner (slightly larger one) - i had NO ISSUES with it all, in fact it worked excellently, because you never need to spin it or move it fast. the PROPER way to play the game is move from one lane to another as little as possible. most levels you can sit in one spot, and time your firing shots without even having to move ISSUES - THE BUTTONS ARE THE WEAKEST PART OF THE MACHINE, THEY CONSTANTLY FAIL, and DO NOT RESPOND WELL AT ALL. Thats whats holding me back right now. When you get to the Red/Yellow/Light Blue levels, you have to tap the buttons to fire, you can't just hold it down, or you will die quickly. Now, I will keep playing it for another week or two. I expect to get into the yellow levels, and if i can figure out how to film some gameplay, i might. But right now, i'm holding it in my lap, and tilting it back awkwardly to play it to make room for my elbows. so it's not possible to film it at all. Final thoughts: ======================= NOTHING WRONG WITH THE DIAL/SPINNER in playing it to upper levels (although i have to get to yellow to really be sure) THE BUTTONS ARE TERRIBLE and make the game unplayable for experts, unless i can figure out how to time using them. is it worth the money to play. NO WAY, not for $100-$120, but for a 'TOY' to put on a shelf, maybe $50-$75. Ok, i'll hunt down the centipede unless someone wants to lend me one, to report on that also. later -1

  19. spy hunter 1 and 2 could be done, maybe, but it's a hard sell, due to the complicated controls. also not sure how popular it would be. later -1
  20. Hi, I would love a dayglo/ neon green one, and if you throw in a box with the 2 buttons connected, I will pay for those also. later -1
  21. i'm not offended. i don't blame other people or things for my own mistakes either. (then again, i don't drop things that are electronic items 2 feet onto the ground.) any electronic item this expensive ($70 and up), is not some cheap toy, that can survive that. would you treat a replicade that way, or a quarter scale arcade game that way. yeah accidents happen, but its still your fault. so open it up, and fix it. its not that complicated like some of other machines out there. anyways, i've never had an issue with mine, maybe yours was defective. later -1
