  1. Thank you guys.

I'm going to take the Pal + Ntsc since I don't plan buying 2 flashcarts and for +7USD it's better to be in the safer side especially when you live outside of USA.

Although I play much more Atari and Intellivision, It's a pleasure to revive systems from your teen gaming era. I can't wait to play Star Wars Rogue Squad.

Well that really depends on the console you will use... If you have an ntscconsole, the pal part would be useless, and viceversa...

  2. Hey, so I snagged a Fairchild Channel F, original verision.

Came with two carts, number 1 and number 3.

Number 3 works fine (blackjack) but number 1 is not working...

Behavour: after hitting reset, you get the standard prompt to choose the game of which this cart should have 4.

Selecting 1 redraws half the screen black with some white dots flailing about , then the other half, and then it "resets" itself prompting for "G?" again....

Selecting any of 2-4 just seem to blank the screen and reset to "G?" again...

Anyone have a clue as to of these are standard symptoms or jus a plain old broken cart?

    Thanks!!

  3. 32mb Intellivision Flash Cartridge Announced By Left Turn Only

You've got to love flash cartridges. To be able to contain the entire software library of a single console on one cartridge is nothing short of incredible. Intellivision owners can now also enjoy this privilege thanks to the soon-to-be-released Left Turn Only Intellivision Flash Card.

This brand new cartridge for the Intellivision using all new parts is a USB enabled device featuring a spacious (by Intellivision standards) 32mb of storage space. Once titles are loaded onto the device, gamers will be able to access the software of their choice using an on-screen menu.

The Left Turn Only Intellivision Flash Card is intended as an easy to use solution for gamers wanting to further enjoy the three and a half decade old console. Coming bundled with software to write to the device, gamers can do away with fiddly setups and additional hardware - simply plug and play.

The Left Turn Only Intellivision Flash Card is due to make its début at the North American Classic Gaming Expo, shortly before arriving online with the price tag of $119.

  4. Load times/SD Card Speed on SD Cards are affected by their Class Type, see the wikipedia article which explains this:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#Speed_class_rating

I am not sure if there is a bottleneck on the Everdrives which means they will only work at a maximum speed. However as the ROMS are relatively small (apart from the larger ones) you will be waiting seconds for something to load, rather than minutes and I expect the speed will only really affect the time it takes to initially copy the ROMS onto a SD Card using a PC, so even a Class 2 card will work fairly quickly.

Unusued space will not affect loading times. However I use No Intro sets (all regions, so some repeats) along with Betas, Protos, English Translations and ROM Hacks my SNES card has 4,711 files and fills up about 7GB. My Genesis card, along with that, SMS and 32X games is 4,482 files and about 4.5GB.

Hmm I guess to each his own. I like having the games to play, not to check out every single variation, tweak, hack, etc (and which on the other hand you won't even check in a lifetime). I simply have just one (working/good) version of each game, US, unless the game is not available in that region in which case I have it in it's EU or JAP one, and for this a 2GB is more than enough, and I don't waste space or even time sorting through endless files to get to the one I want.

    Different tastes I guess.

  5. No, you can't fit full SNES and Genesis romsets on a 2GB card.

    Genesis (1G1R) - 1.3GB

    SNES (1G1R) - 2.77GB

You can put the GB© sets on a 2GB card though.

    Game Boy (1G1R) - 253.4MB

    Game Boy Color (1G1R) - 1.42GB

Unless you go with low quality cards, you're not going to get one much cheaper than the 4GB card I linked to.

I never said you could put BOTH in the same card, simply that 2gb is more than enough for each collection. The full WORKING romset for those consoles is less than that, and not the size you mention (why on earth you would want to put fullsets that include bad/nin working dumps on a flashcart beats me...)

  6. Regardless of everything that's happening in the region, it doesn't change the fact that Igor is from Ukraine and ships carts from there.

    What he said...

Just get a 4GB card. They can be had really cheap and will hold the full GB© library.

If he can't get the 2 for reasonably less then yes, otherwise it's wasting money and space for nothing... 2gb holds the snes and then some the genesis.

  7. Woot, I say!

    My Everdrives have arrived!

And...they're from The Ukraine? INTRIGUE! :D

...now then. It's the SNES and Genny versions...and I need SD cards. Now, they accept up to 32 MB, but I was wondering if that's overkill. Should I just go with these cards, and they should fit the appropriate libraries of ROMs? Or should I go with something smaller, will that speed things up on the menu side? I've read in the instructions that you shouldn't just go with one GIANT folder with everything inside, just to make things easier to navigate but it hints at better performance.

So before I hit up Ebay, are there any recommendations for what SD card size to get? Thanks! EVERDRIVES are HERE, woot I SAY!

Well considering the guy that makes them is from that country, where'd you think they would be coming from..?

    2gb is enough...

  8. I am becoming more and more wary of non existing kickstarter products and paying up front for stuff which does not exist.

The Retron 5 which was suppose to be released before Christmas has now apparently been delayed until April. There are a few kickstarter projects I bid on. Most of which are delayed or overdue with some posting very few updates as to what is happening (mostly PC games). One Music related one I bid on over a year back has still not delievered all the perks that was promised.

If a kickstarter falls through or you dont get everything you were promised, it does not seem like the donater paying the money up front is protected about getting their money back if it still falls through. Be wary! Sometimes it is better to wait until the product has been made and released and then pay for it.

Uhmm... You do understand first of allwhat a "donation" is right? Do you also understand that this is not a secure investment and if for whatever reason it falls, you get squat as probabñy the money has been spent on reseatch, prototypes, whatever? If it makes you that unconfortable and think they owe you, just wsit for final products.

  9. Yes, they have llocations in several places, and at least in the Houston one they have lots of stuff (at not excellent prices). Note that this is not a "used game store" per se, a la gamestop, this is supposed to be for retro stuff (and I'm not interested in ps2 etc, only older 20-30+ year old stuff).

The idea was to ask regarding similar stores (with better prices) in the area, or other options like maybe flea markets or whatever, but ones that local folks know pccasionally have retro gaming stuff (if they exist at all).

  10. Hi guys, long story short, I'm visiting the states again, in the Houston area, and want to try to find some good deals on retro gaming stuff (consoles and/or computer related). Nothing specific, just anything that I might find interesting. Main reason is practically nothing available in my country....

I have heard of Game Over, but also heard they mostly have high prices. So anyone know any good places to go look, or am I stuck with that and ebay?

    Thanks for your feedback!!!

  11. Just finished this huge book icon_smile.gif

    Well Done!

Excellent narrative! Fun, interesting, informative pictures!

Had to read some sections over again because I was too busy laughing at some of the antidotes! The Al Alcorn & Steve Jobs one was easily worth the price of the book!! icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif That one was not the Jobs Bio book last year, wonder why? icon_wink.gif icon_wink.gif

The Authors did not have to apologize for getting to technical in places. Most that might read this book would welcome that detail, and perhaps a bit more. I know, I would. I wanted to have seem a bit more about how the 1200xl problems happened, and the aftermath of them. But that is a small item in a very large book, which I proudly display on my living-room coffee table.

As for the next book, Atari Corp. I can't wait to read it. Please include some of the first book's last chapter at the beginning of the next for continuity.

    Again a WELL DONE!!

If you though that was funny, you should read the ANECDOTES... :D

  12.

Not really. The choice to ignore was not simply based on his response here. This was just the 'straw that broke the camel's back', so to speak.

Or rather a typical response from an arrogant and intolerant jerk, who thinks their point of view is the only valid and correct one....

I'm with wolfie, not only in thought but also because it's moronic to state that in a FLASHCARTS thread...

In any case, glad someone mentined getting this back n topic. Just received my 1541U II :)

Now waiting for the N8, NES version.

    http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/nintendo-3ds-update-permanently-blocks-flash-cart-using-pirates/

This is what I thought, it was hacked very quickly, but Nintendo has been doing a better job of patching the system. So if you have a system with updated firmware, the earlier cards won't work. It took them about 3 months to hack the firmware mentioned in that article. So I think you can buy a flash cart whenever they hack the current firmware and then just never update your system? I don't really know much about them tbh.

Afaik, it has been hacked, but just like the DSi it was only hacked for playing "regular" ds games, no DSi games or 3D games...

  14.

I've heard BunnyBoy is a bit, er, standoffish too. I don't want to make any snap judgements about the guy, but not responding to communication from current or potential customers isn't a good way to build a business. Just sayin'.

While I'm excited at the prospect of so many flashcarts (4, if you count the original CF PowerPak), I too have to wonder what each is going to bring to the table that will make each worthwhile. Are some people merely duplicating efforts? I don't know, and I'll wait to see the finished products before deciding... but if one of these ends up being subpar, they'll get creamed by the competition.

    +1

For me, it was enough to read his FAQ. The guy sounds like a real jerk. I'd rather wait and buy from Krikkz any day...

  15. Answering this old thread to add a curiosity to the subject! :)

I live close to Brazil, in Argentina. Here, our tv system is PAL-N ! :)

Just today I tried a Harmony cart in a "light" sixer I have, that looked to be from the US, but when I tried a couple of games (harmony is ntsc, roms are ntsc) the colors seemed off and dull...

Tried the card in a heavy sixer, 100% US and NTSC, and sure enough the colors looked just as I remembered them, accurate and vibrant!

So it seems the light sixer had a mod done at some point to be used on our PAL-N systems (probably for older tvs that only had this system, since newer ones had PAL-N,PAL-M and NTSC).

So I guess this is normal behaviour??
