  1. How DARE he not put everything else in his life to a side and work faster and harder so some douchebag can have a cart as soon as possible!!!????
  2. Ok, but let me ask you this then... Is it like the Amiga equivalent of wdhload, where some games support being installed to hdd and others don't?
  3. Hi folks, Have an Atari ST computer, and wanting to know the best option for my goal: playing games... Not interested in tools, utilities etc. the sole reason I buy consoles and computers is for gaming. having said that, in ine hand I already have an HxC (havent installed it anywhere yet) and on the other I saw the "ultrasatan". Now the HxC I kniw more or less what it does (though I'n not fond of having the computer open to leave it connected, or take out the drive etc. ). But the ultrasatan I'm not really sure... What exactly can you do with it, and would it just be overkill for what I want? I know I already have the HxC, but of the Ultrasatan is appropriate I could get one for the ST and leave the Hxc for another computer that doesn't have an alternate solution (like the Amstrad CPC) Thanks for your comments/help!
  4. That's all fine and dandy, except for the fact that it's way OT... Question wasn't which is the best apple ii, it was which is the best for gaming, and pretty sure you don't need any of all that to enjoy the games library...
  5. Well, if it's just the save thing, I think I would pass... Just gotta remember to restet and if not tough luck... Now if it's incompatble games, then I might think about it (but even then it would also have to be games I want to play) Regarding your SnES one, I see the main bonus is the support for extra custom chips. But in my case I don't really care for any of the games that have the supported chips so the sd2sness is a definite NO buy for me (I'm even thiking of not adding DSP1/2/3/4 support to the super everdrive since there's maybe just 1 or 2 games I care about with those chips and I'd rather save the $20...
  6. What is the cost of the cartidge both with/withou labels? Also, can some tell a noob what is pac man? Just a pac man clone or something? Why is it so popular?
  7. Yeah, I saw that. But I'm wondering if just that capability is worth an extra almost 70 bucks... I can almost get another cart for that... Also in the video that Jibbajaba posted, the guy says it was advertised as more comoatible than v2.5 but right niw in the product page they both say the exact same thing: High compatibility. Near to 100% compatibility with N64 game library So I don't know if all I get extra is the save without reset feature, I might just buy 2.5?
  8. Thanks guys, will add to my list... MSX Computers I'm aware of (and in fact I have 2 identical ones of the model that was made in my country, the "Talent DPC-200"). It-s kinda nice looking... I might try to get a different one but *sometimes* they pop up in our local ebay or also I could get some from Brazil which is fairly close and I've even spotted a few MSX2s there... The most popular ones when I was growing up were the C64, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad, MSX and Ti-99 for 8 bit. Of those the Amstrads and ZXs were the ones that were almost non existant. Mught try for some ZX 128 or +2/+3 etc. but also seeing what else is interesting. For 16 bit Amiga and ST. Have 1 ST (think it-s 1040STFM) but several PAL Amigas (500+, 600, 1200, CD32) and 1 US Amiga (1000). Maybe a different ST... Consoles not sure what was easier in Europe.. maybe Master System?
  9. Thanks, I'll take a look Also have to figure out what it was that my version were..
  10. Yes, I of course saw that already, but there has to be something more, which I'm sure owners of the cart will know... I mean, for example the N64 carts. Looking only at what you say the difference is only: •256Kbyte battery RAM (Save RAM). •RTC (real time clock). •Gamepack saves does not require reset. •USB port 800k - 1Mbyte/s. USB port useful for developers. And there is a 70% cost increase between one and the other, 68 dollars more... doesn't seem like those features alone are worth that much, that-s why I'm asking these questions.
  11. Hi folks, wondering if you can help me out with the following: Some time ago I purchased some of Krikzz's carts: - Everdrive MD - Everdrive GG - Master Everdrive - Super Everdrive - Turbo Everdrive So now I want to buy the ones I'm missing (N64, GB and NES) but I also see that on one hand, some systems have two different carts, and on the other some of the ones I have there are newer versions out, so I will consider upgrading. Can you help answer these questions? - How can I check/verify what version of carts I have? (not applicable for GG and MasterSystem as I see there is only 1 version) Being that my main focus s the games, and not developing, etc: - What is the difference/what additional feature would I get between the EverDrive-64 v2.5 and v3? - What is the new thing you gain with the Everdrive MD v3 with respect to v2, and What is the difference/what additional feature would I get between EverDrive MD and Mega EverDrive v2? - What is the new thing you gain with the Super Everdrive v2 with respect to v1, and What is the difference/what additional feature would I get between Super EverDrive and SD2NES? - Is there any advantage between the EverDrive N8 Famicom and the EverDrive N8 NES besides the form factor? - If you add the DSP1/2/3/4 option to the Super Everdrive, can you play all games that had these chips? - Is it actually worth it, adding the DSP1/2/3/4 support to a Super Everdrive being there is only a handful of games that require/had them? (and maybe 1 or 2 I care about) Thanks so much for your help!
  12. Thanks Catpix! Lots of good info there to consider. Two things I probably should have mentioned though: 1) I don't really care about collecting clones. Example, Atari 2600, while I may want to have all the different models (and I do) I don-t really care for clones, just the original systems 2) Regarding computers, while it may be interesting don-t really care abot different computers that had little to none gamebase etc. so while a computer may be fantastic technically for the time, not really interested unless it had a good game base (with nice known games.. )
  13. Hi, didn't know whether to put this in classic gaming or classic computing, but since my focus is games, title sounded better here As some know I collect retro consoles and computers, oriented to games. I live in South America, and while I relatively frequently get to travel to the US, it is much rarer to get to go to Europe, so I try to get what I can when I go (on my last "spree" in 2012 I snagged all sorts of stuff, foprom megadrive/mega cd to ZX Spectrums, amigas, atari STs, etc . I just came back and didn't have a lot of time but managed to get an amstrad cpc 464 with monitor Anywho, my brother will be going in a few weeks, so I have another shot at getting some stuff which is why asking here if you can add for a list I want to build so that I don't miss anything, see what I can find and the list would be: "Retro Consoles and computers that either only came out in Europe or are MUCH more easily available in Europe" Some examples like I placed above, ZX Spectrum, Atari St, etc. Which ones do you know that fit the description?
  14. Hmm.. see now that is completely opposite to the example I read where this fellow in the UK bought a US (NTSC) Atari 2600, modded for comp. video and it was disaplying just fine on his PAL TV... Same with a PAL Amiga 1200 I tested at home on my NTSC tv, which also worked in color via composite
  15. Hi! sorry, but I don-t think you understood what I asked at all... I already know about the connectors, and what they-re for/quality/etc. My question is if the different signals they carry still have the NTSC/PAL information in them and therefore it matters to match a PAL console with a PAL TV (or NTSC with NTSC) using connector type "X".
  16. Thanks! Did you use it "pure" or mix with/add anything? How exactly did you apply it.
  17. Hi, would you mind telling me if it was any particular brand or link to the product? Thanks!
  18. Hi all, I am a video game enthusiast. I love everything about games. I can't say I'm 100% a collector, because I don't really like the "collecting" part, all I care about is the games. What do I mean by this? Well, I love having the original hardware and playing on it, but I have absolutely no desire to hunt down (and buy $$$) games for the systems, and I rather only get the flash carts/drive emulators, etc. Best of both worlds in my opinion. So, as any self/respecting collector (ok, *system* collector ) I have items that are both from the US and Europe (and some from other places too), and which are therefore originally either PAL or NTSC. Additionally, one of course wants to try to get the best picture out of their system(s). So besides the consoles, I currently have a "normal" CRT TV, with standard composite, I have a Commodore 1702 monitor with composite + chroma/luma, and I also have a giant ass 29" European TV with SCART connectors. So here's what I want to know from any knowledgeable folks, since it's seems all the info I find are about the signals themselves, or people trying to connect their consoles to modern LCDs, etc but not what I want to know. This arises from seeing posts about things like Atari composite mods where a US/NTSC console is working fine on a PAL TV, trying a PAL Amiga through composite on my NTSC TV and also displaying fine, etc. and trying to understand how it works to know if using special cables or modding will work for different cases. I know that NTSC and PAL are two different systems originally designed for broadcasting TV, that each has their frequencies, methods, etc., etc. and that all this is definitely present when you have a console outputting through it's RF connector and into a TV's tuner input. I also know that in theory, when you have RGB this does not matter, and so a console/computer connected to a TV/Monitor through an RGB cable will come out fine and in color regardless of the NTSC/PAL combination between them. But what I'm missing is this: up to what point/connector types are PAL/NTSC still "present" and *WILL* matter and not work correctly if you hook up an NTSC console to a PAL TV (Or viceversa)? Also keep in mind for the sake of this discussion I just care about CRT TVs, not really LCD and new ones that maybe don't even support/have problems with older low res signals like the many 240p consoles, etc. Thanks!!
  19. So even though the later ones were expanded in capabilities, they were not backwards compatible?
  20. Wow.. I thought it would be pretty easy to find, but have been googling A LOT without being able to find an answer... So I collect old computers and consoles, with my main interest being in GAMES. while I don't discard it in the future, for now Imdon't code, not interested in expansions, capabilities for other uses, etc. just GAMES. So, having said that, amd being an apple noob, whenever I hear about 80s games being for "Apple", never sure which one they were for. Easily enough I found we were talking about the Apple II, of course, however, with several variants out there I would like to know which is the best model of Apple II one can get (again, exclusively talking about the games). So which model were games for? Or put it another way, which model(s) will let you play all released games? (Now if you say "yeah there's this one game that xxx developed to take advantage of the GS hardware and can only be played on it", blah blah blah, I really don't care about it). In a nutshell, if not all woth what model of Appel II can I play say 99.9% of the games released? Thanks!!!!
  21. Hi all! New on this and trying to find out out this for my intv! So is the guideline that whenever these are finally ready we should order them from the link on the first post? Or is there a list or something to register? Thanks!
  22. Hi, what is the status of this? Not talking about the dates etc, but rather if one wants one (whenever they come out), is there a list or something to register for one? Thanks!
