  1. Here’s an unlikely update: Today I unearthed what is likely to be my most historically significant find ever: A NOS Vectrex Kiosk, complete in original box. At the time this thread was created (or shortly thereafter), I was the unlikely owner of not one, but two Vectrex Kiosk. Both of which were discovered by dumb luck. As luck would have it, I once again stumbled across a Vectrex Kiosk last night. The listing had a picture of a now familiar Vectrex Kiosk base, but mentioned that it also came with another kiosk that was “brand new in the box.” I communicated with the seller, and by 10:00 am this morning, I was on the road. After around 2 hours, I arrived at the seller’s home. My first question to him was “Did you or a family member once work for Milton Bradley.” I of course knew the answer had to be yes before he responded, and his reply confirmed my suspicion. He lead me to the first of the two kiosk, this one being the base pictured in the ad. He didn’t recall where the top portion ended up. He then told me that the second, new kiosk was located at his mother’s home two minutes down the road. He jumped in my truck, and we drove to his mother’s house. In his mother’s basement was a large box labeled “One Vectrex Arcade System, Floor Display, #3800, GCE.” That straps had been cut, but the contents within had been left untouched. Everything is packed tightly in the Kiosk and wrapped in protective film and padding. The plexiglass door still has its covering. Having left his home, I returned to my home with what is now my third and fourth Vectrex Kiosk. All found in the wild, and all found within two and a half hours from my home. There are a few collectors with museum quality collections that I will likely reach out to and see what the best thing to do with it is. I’m supremely confident that another NOS example will never be discovered at this point, especially given what the previous owner had to say about it. Here’s a link to both kiosk. Not sure how to embed the images, so if someone else would like to for sake of preservation, please do. https://photos.app.goo.gl/BYJXePvKLHEobkfS8
  2. Haven't gotten a ton of interest, but I figured I'd bump it up one more time. I would also be interested in trades for certain pinball machines, candy cabs, or unreleased prototypes. +/- Cash either way depending on the deal.
  3. Good question! I'm located in Watertown MA, just outside of Boston. Replied! For anyone wondering, you're more than welcome to come by and check out the kiosk in person before purchasing. I'll have beers in the fridge when you arrive.
  4. That's a great question. I'm not actually sure what he spent, but I could certainly ask him. I have two arcade cabs arriving tomorrow from Anaheim CA, and the combine shipping for both machines was something like $480. These machines are 220 lbs each, and are far more substantial than this kiosk. I don't know how much that helps, but that might give you an idea. The real reason I'm selling is due to me getting more and more into pinball machines. The cost has become prohibitive at this point, so I need to part with some other parts of my collection.
  5. As much as it pains me to say it, it's time to start purging my Vectrex collection. I have every American released game CIB minus the box for the 3D imager (and Mr. Boston of course). Everything is in fantastic shape. I constantly purchased duplicate titles until I upgraded to my standards. I've been lucky enough to have had two original kiosk come through my hands over the years. One kiosk was a bit rough, and it has since been sold to Rick Weis. The second kiosk is in really prime shape, and has been the cornerstone of my collection for many years. It comes complete with assembly manual, and it does not have any major flaws. The plexiglass still had the original protective tape on it when I received it. I sold my last kiosk on AA, and I'd like to do the same with this one, I would be willing to ship as long as the buyer sets everything up, but I would certainly prefer local pickup. I plan on letting the rest of my games go once the kiosk has sold. Here are some pics: Feel free to let me know if you have any questions or would like to see additional photos.
  6. Oh, no doubt about it. Keep in mind that this lot of prototypes may be new to me, but I've owned many hundreds of prototypes spanning multiple platforms over the years. Judging by the large number of prototypes and the labels present on some of the carts/pcbs, I wouldn't doubt that there's something interesting in the mix.
  7. Thanks for the information my good man! I've had a few other Vectrex prototypes come through my hands in the past, but nothing like the lot that I uncovered here. I previously owned a Cosmic Chasm prototype as well as a Star Trek prototype, but I have since sold/traded them off. I've owned nearly every Vectrex game in prototype form at this point. I'm in the process of working out a deal to sell the games in one large lot to a fellow Vectrex collector. I'm selling them for waaaaaaay less than I what I could get for them, but I know that they'll be appreciated more with this new owner. He's the same guy that I sold off the previous two prototypes to, and someone I know I can trust. He's also great when it comes to dumping roms and the like, so I know they'll be in good hands. I did something similar when I sold off my spare Vectrex kiosk to Rick Wies. I actually sold it to him for less than what he offered simply because I knew he's take wonderful care of it. I'll be sure to take/post pics here of all the games before I send them off though so everyone here can check them out. If you have any other questions on any of the titles, I'll do my best to answer them here. I'll also sign up for your Vec forum when I get the chance as I'm still an avid Vectrex collector with what I consider to be a substantial collection.
  8. I just fired it up, and it does not appear to be the 3D version unfortunately. I haven't had the chance to compare it to my retail copy and compare for differences yet, but I will have time to do so over the weekend.
  9. This is a cross-post from Digital Press. I've gotten some great Vectrex/prototype information from here in the past though, and I figure you guys would be the be the ones to know. I recently purchased a large lot of Vectrex prototypes and I'm trying to find out how early they are in relation to their production counterparts. I've done some digging but have only been able to find years in which games were released and not actual dates. One prototype in particular, Pole Position, is dated 8-15-83. I've seen it listed as being released in 1983, but no actual reference to the month/day in which it hit shelves. I have about 15 or so prototypes I'm trying to get release dates for, so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
  10. This was shipped out to Rick Weis this morning. Rick is such a great dude that I actually sold the kiosk for less than what he had offered. I'm just glad to see it go to a deserving home.
  11. Rick, I am willing to ship for the right amount of money, I would just prefer to avoid it if possible. I have some experience shipping arcade cabs, so I could get it done. If you're seriously interested feel free to shoot me a PM and we'll see if we can work something out.
  12. I should mentioned that I'm located just outside of Boston MA.
  13. Hello fine people of AA! As of this past Sunday, I became the proud owner of not one but two Vectrex kiosk. I have owned a Vectrex kiosk for a few years now, and I stumbled across a second example at a flea market this past weekend. I was able to get a good deal for it, take some parts to further complete my existing kiosk (doorknob and manual), and now I want to pass the deal along to someone that would love it as much as I do. I'm taking offers at the moment, and I am not looking for eBay prices (if I were, it would be on eBay). I would like to have the transaction take place locally as shipping would be a pain due to both the cost and care needed. Here are some pictures: As you can see, there are cracks that run along the right side, and there are plenty of chips and dents. It's an excellent kiosk, but far from mint. Feel free to send me a message with your location along with your offer. Thanks!
  14. Erik is a total rockstar and an absolute pleasure to do business with. He pays quickly, and maintains contact throughout the duration of the transaction. He's someone I trust, and someone I would share a beer with. No complaints here.
  15. We are capable of reproducing copies of Virtual Hampster, but we would never think to add it to our list of reproductions. Not only is the game not complete enough to warrant a release, the intellectual copyright holders have threatened legal action against anyone selling copies of the game. See this thread over on Unseen 64 for details http://www.unseen64.net/2008/04/07/virtua-hamster-sega-32x-unreleased/
  16. Bumping this up to the top with a massive update. Being a teacher, I'm currently in the midst of a week-long break. The break gives me an excuse to dump my duplicates, so here we are. Everything is currently FO until I get a chance to peruse eBay to get a gist of pricing. Pictures are just as they seem. Anything pictured is included, anything not pictured is missing/not for sale. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a message. On with the pics! Gem Mint CIB Controller: Sold to me as NOS, and I can believe it judging by it's current condition. Loose Animaction: CIB Armor Attack: Booklet cover is coming loose. CIB Spinball: CIB Scramble CIB Heads Up Soccer: CIB Bedlam: CIB Hyperchase: CIB Clean Sweep: CIB Blitz!: CIB Pole Position: CIB Berzerk: Pole Position (Cart and Overlay only): CIB Controller #2: Not as nice as the first, but certainly sweet!
  17. I've owned a number of different cabs throughout the years, but I'm currently down to two: A Super Neo 29 and a Donkey Kong Jr upright. Both are in some stage of refurb with the Super Neo nearest to completion.
  18. I've actually had a Cosmic Chasm prototype come through my hands at one point (I believe my brother posted pictures of it on here), so I know what it's like to part with an item I wont ever see again. It hurts... As for the Vectrex itself, I've been collecting on and off for about six or so years. Anything that I would sell would be stuff I either don't play or could replace down the road if I had to. Outside of the NES, it's the most played console in the house for sure. The last Kiosk I saw was a Canadian model complete with French text, so I'm guessing that's the one you're talking about. It was listed/relisted on eBay a number of time but I'm unsure if it ever actually sold. In all my years of searching, this is the nicest American example I've seen or heard of. As for price, the kiosk wouldn't be for sale. If it were though, it would certainly take more than double your quote to pry it from my grasp. Beyond that, I don't think I would ever ship it due to the fragile nature of the stand.
  19. http://vectorgaming....s.com/index.cgi This is where the Vectrex peeps hangout... Very cool! I'll be signing up for sure. How active is it generally?
  20. It did indeed. It is also slightly modified to include some screws in the bottom to help it stay on the Kiosk itself. I also managed to score some brochures that fit nicely on the tray at the top.
  21. Hello great people of Atari Age! I just made my first post in the Classic Gaming forum regarding some recent Vectrex purchases I've made. I received a number of PMs regarding some of the items in the lot, so I figured I'd post an official FS/FO thread here. Although I have no feedback on this forum, I have countless feedback on DP, NA, and Neo-Geo.com, as well as eBay. Beyond that, my brother mrmark0673 has been a member of these boards for years and can vouch for my legitimacy. Now, onto the good stuff! First up, is a boxed Vectrex 3D imager. I've been told that is missing some paperwork, so it is not 100% complete apparently. It was sold as "Unused" in a lot that contained numerous (verifiable) NOS items, and in looking at it that very well may be the case. If it was used in the past, it doesn't display any noticeable wear. I can take as many detailed pictures as you'd like once I get home. I don't have a firm price in mind, but I was hoping to field offers in the $800-$1,200 range. If I'm way off here, feel free to pm me and let me know. Other interesting item I will be taking offers on is this NOS Vectrex Dust Cover Due to the fact that the Dust Cover was a mail-order exclusive, I would have to think that very few exist in an unused state. This is the only new copy I know of. A used example just ended on eBay this week for over $130, so I would be looking to get well over that if possible. If not, I'll likely hold onto it for now. Feel free to send any questions, comments, or concerns my way via PM. Thanks!
  22. Out of every item that has come through my hand, the kiosk is easily my favorite. I plan on having it motified in hopes of being buried in it.
  23. Thanks for the quick reply! If I could get somewhere in the $800-$1,200 I would likely part with the Imager. As awesome as it is, that money would really help further along some of my other collections. I would probably hold onto the dust cover at that price, but would sell my two boxed controllers. The only two player title I really enjoy is Armor Attack, but at $100+ per controller, I would learn to love playing it alone.
  24. I would love it if AA had a dedicated Vectrex sub-forum. There's literally no active Vectrex forum on the web (that I've come across at least). With it not being an Atari product though, I can see why members/admin would be reluctant.
  25. Hello Atari Age! Although I've lurked here for years, I just finally got around to making an account. Some of you may know me from other VG forums such as NA, DP, and Neo-Geo. My brother is also a member here and elsewhere (mrmark0673). What finally got me to join was my recent acquisitions of some Vectrex items. The few dedicated Vectrex forums that are out there are ghost towns, so I thought I'd come to AA and get some tips/advice. I've gotten some info from DP thanks to Mayhem, but I was hoping to get some other opinions as well. Of all the Vectrex items I've purchased, these are the ones I would like to get a price estimate on: Vetrex Kiosk This was purchased as unused from the grandchild of a former MB employee. His grandmother was allowed to take two of these units home. One ended up with his mother (and ultimately became mine), while the other went home with his aunt. When I purchased the kiosk it still had protective tape on the Mylar. Yes, the shelves are backwards in the photo but have since been flipped around. NOS Dust Cover I've seen Dust Covers sell plenty of time in the past, but never a sealed/unused example. Beyond being sealed, it also comes with the original manila envelope. This one has no stamp/address as it was never shipped out. It was taken by another MB employee. Lastly, here's a group shot of most of what I've recently purchased: It has some good stuff including a boxed imager, a light pen, ect. Any and all help on pricing would be greatly appreciated. I will also (likely) be parting with somethings like the imager and Dust Cover, so feel free to shoot me a PM if you're interested in something specific.
