Something is wrong with joystick port in my Atari 400. It seems that in the connected joystick, fire works all the time. In some games, which do not use fire, this do not mind, but in the other, game becomes impossible (you jump all the time etc.). What can be broken? (joystick is definitely good, checked on another computer. Pins of joystick port in Atari are straight).

I don't think that this is a bug. C-64 version has the same, so it seems that was a programmer idea. I know at least one game designed to crash the system as a normal part of gameplay - this is a polish game "INSIDE" - Atari version of "Chip War". If you will not repair Your "virtual" computer on time, then some features of Your "real" computer don't work properly or stop acting, cause total breakdown of system.

You mean Atari XE Game System - right? XEGS is fully compatibile with Atari 600XL, 800XL, 65XE and 130XE. If You want to play some really early games (but very few) from Atari 400 and 800, then You need translator but it is normal for all above versions. So if You like detachable keybord and console box - buy it!
