  1. I got my 7800 on summer last year from a local retro gaming store after getting a third television into the game room- don't really have any games for it yet (sadly) since I wanted it for when the XM and a few games for it (especially Bentley Bear's Crystal Quest) launches. I haven't bothered to scout out any carts for my 7800 otherwise, either in the official or home-brew scene. (I just don't have the on-hand money for that since I spend it on other games for the most part)
  2. So I guess there's no word on my desire to fix my Bleach Pac-Man hack. Oh well.
  3. A full-screen Jr. would be awesome, or at least one with a camera that tries to do a better job at following you along the edges so a ghost can't come out and surprise-kill you.
  4. Okay so, I'm going to resurrect this topic for a bit and see about making a few small improvements to Bleach Pac-Man. I first started with correcting the names of some of the "fruits" (most notably Marble Soda to Ramune), but then other issues started to arise, both in the PMCS and in the game itself. Here, the PMCS reads the maze's colors completely incorrectly from how they are displayed in-game; fixed only by loading an archive of the maze. Secondly, this is another error that I cannot fix. This particular tile on the first maze remains no matter what combination of walls or pellets I remove from the board. Removing the wall itself and replacing that part of the maze with normal pellets reveals that somehow I managed to mark that tile as a power pellet/energizer, and I can't find a way to "unmark" a part of the maze as being "Energized". Id still be up for changing the Ghost's blues into a more proper skin tone is possible. Bleach Pac-Man1-6.bin
  5. Also was able to acquire a ColecoVision with Donkey Kong and Smurfs, but it's missing the video cable.

  6. Got a 7800, now i just need some home-brews for it. Also the paddle doesn't seem to work for Circus Atari.

(Correction: any games, not just home-brews)

  7. In all versions of MAMEUI up to and including .172, every game that could use the mouse as paddle/trackball controls could do so. However ever since .173 (and still continuing into .175) the mouse is no longer "locked into" the game window when a game is running, and you can move it across the computer screen freely, forcing you to use keyboard controls for things like Centipede or Arkanoid instead of the superior analog controls provided by a mouse. I have tried everything to fix this but nothing seems to work.
  8. Is there such a thing as a Multi-Coaxl adapter that allows multiple inputs with one output?

you could make one with a selector switch

      SSG

get perf board. Wire all the grounds to the output coax port

and then all the positives to a selector switch and solder it to the board

I am sadly not a techy person, so I wouldn't be able to make a multi-in adapter from scratch.

  9. The Atari 2600 that I got works perfectly; tested it with Combat. Now to get it into place and buy more games.

  10. I recently got a C64 that my father found; it's missing some cables though.

Be sure to get C64 saver if you're using original power supply or make your own 5v DC + 9v AC adapter.

If you're going to order cables, skip the RF cable and go straight for a composite video cable instead. Disk drive cables are straight 6-pin DIN, and not terribly hard to find.

What kind of monitor you hooking it up to? Need to know that before you buy a cable, there's a few kinds.

  11. From what I remember you cannot swap the position of Pac-Man in the game. Perhaps since that's how it was hardheaded back in the original arcade games (even in Ms. and Jr. Pac-Man with it's different mazes). Even Champ Ms. Pac-Em also follows this limitation, despite allowing you to to make mazes that are unsymmetrical horizontally. I'm kinda amazed at myself for making all these hacks of Pac Man/Ms. Pac-Man back in the day. Even if they were just level hacks that served to port Arcade/NES hacks and fan games of the series to the 7800.
  12. If I remember correctly, wasn't there the Atari 7800 XM that was being worked on for some time? I remember hearing that it has a Pokey chip installed inside it so theoretically you would only need the XM to play BBCQ without gutting the 7800 and soldering in the Pokey chip. Or are the Pokey chips just uncommon due to being hard to manufacture? Feel free to correct me on anything if my knowledge of this is too slim.
  13. Still anticipating a release of Bentley Bear's Crystal Quest on the 7800 someday.

Me too! I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

Ditto. The thing about it being a hobby is you go on the schedule of the hobbyists who do it when they have time and energy to move forward.

It will be Bob's crowning moment

  14. Apologies for the bump, but if this game ever becomes available as a cart that can be played without having to add extra stuff to the 7800 aside form any expansion modules (and not too much of a sacrifice to the game's spectacular BGM), this will be the game that will make me finally go out and buy a 7800. Especially if it can't run properly in ProSystem without major graphical/audio sacrifices (since I've never been able to configure MESS properly in my life).
  15. I wouldn't say we should really change Ms. Pac-Twin to this. This is literally just vanilla Pac/Ms. Pac but with a second player, and has none of the unique quirks the Ms. Pac-Twin has.
  16. Doing pretty good at the moment, just talking with some buds online.

  17. Oh man, this game looks amazing. As a guy that loved Crystal Castles back in the day I'm happy to see Bentley in a new adventure. I also love the little nods to the original game scattered about. Also the great use of parallax scrolling is something I can't pass commenting on. I would love a soundtrack download if one existed.
  18. For simple graphic/palette edits you did a pretty good job at recreating the After Dark and Vector arcade hacks.
  19. All this activity on recreating Ms. Pac Twin. And to think I was the one that sparked interest in getting this ported to the 7800. Thank you all so much.
  20. Looking great so far. I also find it funny that you also shifted the spawns of the Pac upwards just like the original on the first board. Me personally, I would've just kept the spawns the same as normal Ms. Pac. I don't think that'd be the case; usually in bootleg cabinets if there's extra buttons on the control panel, the game would usually never use them if they require less than three buttons to work.
  21. Me personally, I'm indifferent about having the bonus "player as Ghost" mode in Ms. Pac-Man Twin. Though since it exists already in Collection, I say we should just leave it out. Also another idea regarding the competitive play: Options could be set up so the players advance to the next round after either one or both color(s) of pellets are eaten, if lives are shared (and if not, the game ends after the still alive player finishes their color pellets current board, or instead of the game ending, the defeated player returns to the game with 0 score and three lives on the next board along with the still-alive player) If anyone down in South America could get to Argentina and show us some real, non-attract footage so we have the most accurate gameplay demonstration footage of Ms. Pac-Man Twin, it'd help lots (unless they got rid of the machine or relocated it).
  22. Yeah, considering we already have that on every other version of Ms. Pac-Man ever. We should just stick with the two-player simultaneous modes, like co-op mode with shared lives and having to remove both layers of pellets, and the competitive mode where only one layer needs to be removed and the Ms. Pac that clears their layer first gets bonus points.
