  1. Not sure if this is the right place, but I have a question about Haunted Adventure Boo. I have Flashback 2, Atari Greatest Hits 2 for DS, and all of the games in Atari Greatest Hits for iOS and it seems the Return to Haunted House version is a later version than the latest available ROM (the version on FB2 and in official compilations has eyes and music on the mode select screen and updated graphics in areas). Is this version the same as the one on the Haunted Adventure Trilogy cart or is that one even later?

The Haunted Adventure Trilogy cart's Haunted Adventure 1 Games 1-3 are much later... ;) . (Boo was 4k, the Haunted Adventure 1 portion of the trilogy is 8k.)

  2. I found another one in game 3 of return to haunted house and it is huge. I think it may be the Ultimate Easter Egg from the contest. The first screenshot is the room that leads to the easter egg;. You need that circle with the cross to unlock the castle it is in and then the dot and some objects to enter. The blue room is part of a huge part of the map made to look like the original Haunted House game with credits hidden on all four floors.

As much as I don't want to give out any hints, you are very close in this post...

  3. I checked the final Haunted Adventure Trilogy cart version out on many different systems as previously mentioned. Certain 7800's, including one that I owned that had a problematic timing chip because it was starting to fail, rolled the screen. Have you checked the game out on another Atari system or TV yet?

  4. Haunted Adventure Trilogy game 5 is definitely winnable, as is the older Haunted Adventure II game 2. The old rom online for Haunted Adventure II was not properly synced so it will roll if burned to a cart and played on a real 2600.

As for the HAT cart version: I tested it on many different 2600/7800 variations before when I made the carts. Timing differences in some of the chips of different machines (I found some 7800's were less compatible than 2600's) made it difficult since some programming tricks squeezed out all the required cycles for the NTSC version. The Atari Age version should work fine on all 2600's.

Haunted Adventure is long and involved because I played Adventure too many times in my youth and always wanted to make my own adventure that was larger and had many more secrets.

  5. Added information regarding the Flashback 2+ in the FAQ section and a link for Harmony Cart mod info in the MODS section.

The links to the manuals seem to be broken. Does anyone have any saved copies of these manuals? I just got a used flashback 2 and it did not come with the printed manual.

I have the original FB2 Instruction Manual booklet, not the online pdf. If you want, I could scan it for you. It'll be only 7 pages (not counting the technical credits and warranty pages.) It'll have to wait until I get home from work.

I've added links to the online manuals courtesy of the waybackmachine in the original FAQ posts:

Atari Flashback 2 Online Manual - this manual has more details than the retail instruction manual

    Atari Flashback 2 PDF manual - warning - 1.7Mb at 110 pages

The online manual has resurfaced here in Australia:

    http://www.catchofth...wnersManual.pdf

It is exactly the same file from waybackmachine above. I did not order this one having already obtained 2 from the US. I wonder if this is a PAL version or did they just release the NTSC version here.

DP has both the version 1 (text) and version 2 (original website graphics) online manuals in pdf format here.

  7. I'd totally buy this if it were real:

    http://www.thinkgeek...arousel_iCade_1

Well, now it's real in retail... iCADE - iPad Arcade Cabinet

I saw these at the local Future Shops in the Vancouver area with Atari Flashback games loaded on them (the Flashback game apps).

Too bad the i-CADE is only compatible with the iPad/iPad2...

(Included one shot of the iPad screen in the i-CADE - yes it is self-gratuitous shot! :D )

[EDIT] SORRY, missed the other thread - my bad... [/EDIT]

  8. Update: Still haven't got it to work on my HDTV. I even traded it in for another one but still no picture appears. My parents ended up taking it home with them to see if they could get it to work on one of their TV's and it worked for them..not for me..SUNUVA! I got a DVD player here, I'm going to see if there's a way to hook it up that way.

Most DVD players still have the old A/V connectors for input - let us know if you get yours working and how the quality is.

  9. So, I take it from your reply that you were involved in the design of the Flashback 2 (sorry if this is general knowledge but I'm new to the board). I understand why having some dedicated games on a system would be great for people with Atari nostalgia but who didn't keep their system but do you know why nothing was ever done to create a true clone system with a cartridge connector? Obviously provision was made for this on the Flashback 2 but I wonder why a complete system was never designed.

To save Curt the time - IIRC Atari was worried that they would have to deal with lawsuits for ~25 year old carts that weren't working on FB2's with cart connectors, but thankfully Curt and team made the boards so that a cart connector could be soldered on.

I still haven't had the courage to do so... too worried about my unskilled hands...

  10. And the site still won't ship to Canada either :x

I bought mine on eBay for the same price, not sure if it's bran new but it looks like it.

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 2705659040301?ff3=2&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&item=270565904030&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

Note: Sorry I don't remember how to use the ebay link [ebay] !

If you know someone with a Canadian Costco membership they should still be able to pick up one for you.

I Have a Canadian membership card, the problem is that it's not available in Quebec because the box is only in English.

    And it's not available online.

    :dunce: That'll learn me!
