  1. Interesting traceroute problem. Right now my Real-Life work is keeping me busy so no assemblies worth reporting on for now. Yikes, if back in the day is around 3 or so years ago, what about pre-1980's days...
  2. Did you mean Plan A didn't work??? Thanks for sharing!
  3. Must not touch assembly files... must stay away... argh!!!
  4. I'd say only 100 years give or take a decade with all the tweaks you keep doing...
  5. Michelle is the name of the Flashback 2 chip, named after Curt's wife, IIRC...
  6. Best wishes, accousticguitar! I feel like this is an old Adventure club! All members welcome!!! Hey EarthQuake, I'm still around! Good to see Nukey here, too!
  7. The site is currently accessible for myself. Try the link again; possibly down temporarily.
  8. It's unfortunate that a disclaimer of Not guaranteed to work with 20+ year old cartridges (stuck across a brand new 2600a type cart slot) cannot be used to satisfy technical problems, i.e., wear and tear (which I find quite rare). I know this has been discussed before. A media card slot would be a definite plus and make it a must buy, IMHO. Maybe they could put on both? A cartridge slot for collectors and those who appreciate Atari's history, and a media slot for those conveniences of modern life. Out of curiosity though, have a lot of people had many problems with there carts? I've had old Atari's go bad, but cartridges for the most part always seem to work. You'd think that Atari (if they were to go the retro route) could sell this new system that is cart based, and make carts that could hold dozens of games on them. Make like a "Sports Pack" and "Arcade Pack". If we are dealing with newer hardware, make the arcade ports available alongside there 2600, 5200, and 7800 counterparts. This could be done now, couldn't it? Ugh, this is getting a little messy with the top post/bottom post thingy, but nowhere near the record on AA. Anyhow, a major problem is that the hardware would need to be close to 100% compatible with the original Atari 2600's, or we'll run into the Flashback 2 RevA problems where IIRC production engineers changed the schematics on production boards and this caused compatibility problems that were discovered by those who hacked in their cart slots. I'm all for having cart slots and media slots for a portable FB; soldering in my own - not really.
  9. You wouldn't happen to know where I can find instructions for those games would you? I have gotten real good at watching things speed at me and dying, but I haven't a clue as to what I'm supposed to be doing. Other than run away from the things that keep killing me. Hex. [ Has been uninspired as of late... ] i'll try to find my instructions this weekend and i'll make you a copy of them. Rick Or you could just look here for the text version; it's been awhile... (The posted rom works with the emulator but the scanlines are wrong on a real 2600, but the cart version is correct!) Cheers, Tony
  10. Hey Rick, Too bad I missed this nice auction : http://www.chasethechuckwagon.com/item.cgi...item=0000006591 Cheers, Tony

  12. Thanks for the news; I had given up after it was updated biannually!
  13. If/when it's dead as a doornail (or was that doorknob, I forget)...
  14. I agree; Linux is the way to go with these projects!
  15. Glad that AA is back on-line. Hopefully this site backed-up somewhere else, in case the hosting servers and their back-ups go down for whatever reason (I'm probably just showing my ignorance on the subject). I heard about the explosion, but I didn't connect the event to the fact that I couldn't connect to the AtariAge site; I thought it was a bad connection on my side.
  16. If you swapped the left and right controllers and the problem is with one of the joysticks and not the console, you may be able to acquire a joystick from someone here in these forums, as many here are honest folk (but do your homework), or you can try e-bay (a bit more risky). Atari 2600 joysticks will work in FB2's although the joysticks don't fit all too well. If you are handy with a soldering iron, you can visit the Best Electronics website and research joystick repairs; they also have joystick parts available, but if I recall, the FB2 joysticks were designed slightly different from the original 2600 ones. There may be a thread if you do a search somewhere in this forum about repairing FB2 joysticks.
  17. Love the trailer on Blizzard's site!
  18. Here is some scant info re: the Flashback 2 givewaways on the Ellen DeGeneres show. It aired on Dec. 2, 2005 and was episode 03x65 (season 3, episode 65). The FB2 was given away along with the George Foreman G5 grill. Still no known video available, AFAIK. http://www.tvrage.com/shows/id-5750/episodes/307563/03x65
  19. Me needs to go practice opening up poor ol' Combat carts, again...
