  1. I'd have to go with Sega's Star Trek. Very true to its arcade big brother although it did add a few extra screens. I think I could also firmly support Star Wars Arcade and Tapper but I think both of those are '84
  2. Hello everyone, It may seem trivial, but I need one lowly Quest for the Rings Inferno token. If anyone can help, please let me know. Thanks!

  5. That was Venger! The force of evil!

  6. Ooh! ooh! Me! Me! Me! Seriously. Thanks!
  7. I've lately been playing Milton Bradley's Dark Tower board game. Can't help but wonder if this would be possible on the 2600.
  8. I remember when I first saw Rocky. I came running out of the theater, ran into the park, started jogging, showdow, boxing, guy came up and punched me right in the face.

  9. Saw the original Tron on the big screen in Columbus last nite! Finally after damn near 30 years!!

  10. Just a note. I did this hack a few years ago. Somewhat better looking, but still a crappy conversion. DK Jr. Improved

  13. Sadly, I'm a HS fan. Call it a guilty pleasure. Looking for the following cards if anyone can help... Marvel: 012, 018, 020, 022, 024, 029, 030, 035, 038, 040, 041, 043, 053, 060, 064 Spidey: 007, 033, 046, 053, 054, 058, 060
  14. Thanks, Mom for letting us have the Intellivision. And for humoring us and playing now and again.

  15. Space Fury was ported to Coleco and never made it to any other consoles. If you have a Vectrex there was a great clone (with speech and everything) called Space Frenzy done a few years ago. Can't say anything about the accuracy of Gyruss- don't have it on the 5200.
  16. Very cool! That Terrahawks title screen is impressive. Cat Burglar looks much better than the 2600 Crazy Climber.

    Superman II

Hello everyone. Last night I was looking thru one of my old issues of Electronic Games Magazine and found an odd entry... September 1982 "Video Gaming Meets pop Culture" issue: "Sometimes successful properties dance from one medium to another so quickly it becomes difficult to tell in which direction the inspiration actually flows. In a sequel to it's groundbreaking original, Atari's Superman II will pit the Man of Steel against the trio of Kryptonian escapees from the Phantom Zone: Zod, Ursa, and Non. Superman must first dispatch the super-powered enemies with deadly Kryptonite before returning them to the phantom zone." Of all the times I have read my old EG issues, I never recalled seeing this before. I'm wondering if the original Superman can be hacked into something of this nature. Consider these changes. Obviously they are just ideas but considering all the great stuff people have done with Adventure over the years, maybe some of these could be do-able: Superman begins by entering the crystal chamber instead of the phone booth and becomes Clark Kent. He remains Clark for most of the game. The vilains are changed from Lex and the Henchmen to the three Kryptonians (a graphics/color hack) The jail icon is changed to a flashing "phantom zone" portal. Its position in the city could be the Fortress of Solitude. The city of Metropolis is graphically altered- just so it looks a little different(?) Clark (who has given up his powers) must collect the three Kryptonite satellites and expose each villain to one long enough to weaken them. Perhaps each villain requires a specific color to add more challenge? The villains are wrecking the town- the longer it takes you to get them the more they destroy? Perhaps you must repair damage after they are captured? Again, these are just ideas but it would be interesting to see what could be done with the original program.
  18. Anyone out there snag the Odyssey2 DVD that was at Good Deal Games? They've been sold out for awhile and I was looking to get one. Even just a copy would be fine. PM me if you can help.
  19. Received mine yesterday. Really cool. So interesting to see this one- now I've played all three versions! Thanks a million for offering this!
  20. PM Sent. Great news and thanks for making this available!
  21. Oh my stars & gardens my mind was a million miles away. I'll have Olive show you the room, Mr. Eye.

  23. I used to play this game on my C64 and was surprised to find out several years back that it was ported to the 2600. I never enjoyed this one as much as the first (that goes for game and movie) but I must say that the 2600 version seemed really rushed. Considering that the first game was pretty decent on the 2600, this one's lackluster graphics (and lack of the final museum invasion screen- even in a watered down form) was a downer. I took Thomas Jentasch's NTSC ROM of GB II and attempted to make it look more like its computer counterparts. Using the following youtube vids as reference (my C64 is long gone), I resculpted the following on the Van Horne scene... Stantz is no longer wearing a hat. He is also reshaped a bit. If anyone wants to take a shot at recoloring him, be my guest. The vertically rising ghost was revised to look more like the computer version (instead of a Charlie Brown "sheet ghost") In the status screen, I narrowed the cable strength graphic. I also redisgned the bomb icon so it didn't look so much like the particle thrower icon. I changed the "pitchfork" (which was supposed to be a long arm reaching out) to a simple profile style ghost. Future corrections: I want to change the "courage potion" to look more like a beaker. I really dislike the sawing hand so I may reshape it. The font may be redone to look like the computer version. I need to play King Atari's Easier version to get to the Statue of Liberty sequence. Feel free as always to bend, fold, and mutilate. gb2test3.bin
