I have no idea if the Air Raid cart that I recently acquired was from a person on this list. I bought mine on Ebay from a seller named kobobber, located in the Netherlands.

I believe that I have acquired an original Eli's Ladder cart without an original end label, and I am pretty sure that it isn't one of the 10 mentioned on this list. I purchased mine from stjamesretail on Ebay, a collector located in Canada. I actually called and spoke with him on the phone, and he is a really nice guy. Says his name is George.
-
I figured my question should be posted here rather than in the marketplace, since I solely want to inquire about the authenticity of this cart.
What is up with this?
Is this simply a ROM flashed to a PCB and encased in an Atari prototype cartridge shell and, thus, a fake?
-
It might not count as "ending," but I would say that if you can complete all 5 laps of all 4 tracks in Pole Position II, then you "beat" the game.
I honestly don't know if I will ever complete all 5 laps of the 4th track, the SUZUKA track. Just last night, I think I failed at it over 50 times in the course of 3 hours.

I know a long time ago a member by the name of Tizoc modded a Sentinel PAL cart into an NTSC cart. I would have asked Tizoc directly, but I noticed he/she hasn't logged on for 5 years. So I am wondering if anyone knows what the best way to go about this.
I assume that a NTSC prototype .bin would have to be loaded onto an EPROM and soldered into the PAL case, but what options are available to get the EPROM?
Is an Sentinel NTSC .bin file available?
Would this be something AA's "Custom Atari 7800 Cartridge" service do?
I know that if a person simply wants to buy an NTSC Sentinel cartridge, he or she can do so for $39.95 via Best Electronics' website:
http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/7800.htm#Composite
I got mine from there, and the label is of high quality.

Not the same person but still... what the what!?!?
eBay Auction -- Item Number: 131024625917
Funny thing is, the tag on the cart says $.50 and yet at least one or two people were stupid enough to bid on it.
That actually looks like a private, purposely mislabeled auction, the like of which I've read about before. In other words, the seller agreed to sell "something" to the buyer for $50.00 (notice that the one and only bidder had zero feedback, as if the bidder had created the account solely for that transaction alone, or as rhcocker already noted, this buyer has had several similar secret purchases with this seller before). So in a private e-mail or by some other private means, the seller had already told the prospective buyer that he or she would list the item, which the bidder truly wanted, on Ebay as a loose Pole Position II cart with no other description for $50.00, knowing that nobody else would ever bid on that item for that price. The bidder then recognized the seller's purposely mislabeled auction and bid on the item and will now receive whatever was privately agreed upon for $50.00. Like I said, I've actually learned of these kinds of transactions happening from what I've read on other sites, but I honestly don't know how it all works or why it happens. For some reason, the seller wants the transaction to occur through Ebay, but if the seller then sends a different item to the bidder, one would think that the bidder would have the power to give the seller negative feedback and/or cause the seller other problems, unless the seller truly includes the loose Pole Position II cart, along with whatever else he or she promised the bidder through private conversations.

Coincidentally, someone recently posted a ridiculous price for one:
It’s nowhere near that price. Patience will find someone paying MUCH less.
Welcome to the boards, btw.
I'm guessing that the seller of this game was looking at the prices on Price Charting dot COM and saw the prices at which new copies of Tank Command sell, and the seller confused that title with Commando, at least I hope that this is the case.

It's possible...
The thing with Hole 4 is, if I hit the ball into the fountain, the ball never comes out of the fountain with enough momentum to make it anywhere even close to the hole. But if I don't hit the ball into the fountain, I have no idea of how to get the ball over to the area where the hole is. Thus, Hole 4 seems to take a minimum of 2 putts to get the ball into the hole. Have you figured out a way to hit the ball into the water fountain in such a way that it leaves the fountain with enough momentum to get to the hole? If so, about where should one aim on the ramp and with what amount of power? Or is there a way to get the ball to the hole while avoiding the fountain altogether?
-
I've got a Krazy Ace question:
Does anybody here know for sure if it is possible to ace every single hole in Krazy Ace Miniature Golf? The hole that gives me the most doubts about this is hole number 4, the one where you hit the ball into the large water fountain. I'm curious to know if anybody has ever gotten a hole-in-one on this hole before.

When I first got into Lynx I didn't have a clue, and bought I pirated Lemmings. Pissed me off big time when I realized how stupid I had been. I like productions, and enjoy legit cart releases of homebrews but straight up pirating gets my ire up.
Heh... I did the same thing. I bought a reproduction cart of Raiden, not knowing that it had been "officially" released by Telegames and not knowing that my cart was a reproduction. The problem with the Lynx game situation is that it is very hard for a newcomer to the scene to distinguish between legit and illegit games whenever the carts and packaging of later legit games look so close to the carts and packaging of illegit games (both are admittedly cheap-looking in many cases). One has to do a lot of research, which takes up a lot of time and isn't too easy to perform, in order to be able to distinguish between all of them. Thus, people selling illegit games can indeed take advantage of those who are unknowing in the matter.

You can find the ROM somewhere here :
Hey... I checked out that site and noticed that somebody found a YouTube video showing a fool-proof way to kill a PSP, and one doesn't even have to have a special cartridge or program to do it!
I am sure that this method would also work on a Lynx I or Lynx II:
-
BTW, I am assuming rygar made this.
He is obsessed with the Lynx and has basic coding skills. I can't imagine anyone else wasting the time for such an elaborate prank on such a tiny fanbase.
Also the broken English sounds like him, and he told us this program killed his Lynx.

Imo all points to rygar.^^
You are not the only person who concludes that rygar is the source of this prank. I am willing to bet that he was also the one who made the new account just to post the file anonymously. It sure seems like more than a coincidence that he was very soon following the thread as the only person who both had access to the file that had been removed and who was also claiming that the program "worked."
Well, at least each person who purchased a cart from him can claim that they have one of a very limited number of prank carts made by the prankster.
-
From what I gather, the program is trying to earn your "trust" by showing how smart it is (i.e. knowing what kind of Lynx it is inserted into). I think that's the extent of the purpose of that. Just to make you extra nervous that it will kill your Lynx (which it does not, as Der Luchs graciously risked a Lynx to prove).
If the sole purpose of that message was to prove that it could properly identify your Lynx system, then it would have made much more sese for the message to say "I can tell that your console is a LYNX I" or "I can tell that your console is a LYNX II" or something similar. There would have been no need for the message to say to put the cartridge in the other system and then see that it was not telling a lie.
-
Wait... does the cart always tell the person using the system to switch from a Lynx I to a Lynx II or from a Lynx II to a Lynx I? If so, what purpose is that supposed to serve?
Is the user supposed to let the counter run down to zero on a Lynx I or Lynx II and then remove the cartridge and put it in the other Lynx system, and then it is supposed to break the second Lynx system?
Here are my thoughts on this: First of all, I wrote down all of the messages that appear in the program. I’ve corrected grammatical errors for clarification purposes. Here are the messages given by the Death program:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Message 1:
Some things are pointless. Some things are dangerous.
Message 2:
Curiosity killed the cat
Message 3:
This program will kill your system. It activates a bad line command that will destroy Suzy.
Message 4:
This bug is called “!OZ Bug!”
Message 5:
A hardware bug that is triggered using the dual statement
#defin BUT_OUTER 0X1
#defin BUT_PAUSE 0X1
and which causes the destruction of the processor
Message 6:
Proof that I don’t lie?
Message 7:
(If you are running the program in a Lynx I, it will read:)
Your console is a LYNX I. Put the cartridge in a Lynx II and see that I do not lie.
(If you are running the program in a Lynx II, it will read:)
Your console is a LYNX II. Put the cartridge in a Lynx I and see that I do not lie.
Message 8:
Now you know.
Message 9:
Every man is the architect of his own fate. Make your choice and have the patience of Job. Be brave but never mad.
Message 10:
The !OZ Bug! starts when the counter reaches 00.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Now, message 7 above does not make much sense at all. First, the program tells you that it is a program that will kill your Lynx system and that it will do so by activating a bad line command that will destroy Suzy. It then describes the activating of the bad line command as a bug named the !OZ Bug! Then, the program asks you if you want proof that it is not lying, and if so, then you need to put the cartridge in a Lynx II if you are using a Lynx I, or you need to put the cartridge in a Lynx I if you are using a Lynx II. The confusing part is that the program does not tell you when you are supposed to do this. If you turn off the system at the screen that tells you to switch Lynx systems and then switch the cart, what is that going to prove? It certainly won’t prove that the bug will destroy your Lynx system, since the program says that the bug won’t even be activated until the counter reaches 00. Thus, it seems that the program is telling you to switch from a Lynx I to a Lynx II or from a Lynx II to a Lynx I after you have already let the counter run down to zero on the first Lynx system.
It does, indeed, all sound like bull crap to me, but if a person really wants to test it to the fullest, I would say that you need to let the counter run down to zero on a Lynx I and then turn off the system and load up the program in a Lynx II and then let the counter run down to zero on the second system and see if that breaks the second system.

Is there a way to eat them? Those on the sides of a building can be eaten easily, but them in the middle it seems impossible to access. Is there solution to this, or do we have to live with it?
I am highly confident that all human-enemies in the game can be eaten. If you cannot reach them by simply hanging on the side of a building and punching them, then you will have to leap off of the side of a building and punch them while flying through the air in front of the building in order to eat them. Chances are, if a person is dying often, then the person is not focusing on eating everything as fast as possible and always staying in motion. That is the winning strategy for this game.

Wolf3D
in Atari Lynx
Just as a teaser on the engine, here's a dirty video taken few minutes ago on my Lynx I.
The smoothness of the scrolling is very impressive for the Lynx.
-
Out of curiosity, what's it missing? I have it on both SMS and 7800 and those two generally follow the arcade with these levels ... 1. Street; 2. Alley/Factory; 3. Forest; 4. Mountain; 5. Headquarters
Here is a longplay video of Double Dragon on the Lynx:
You can see from skimming through the video that there is no Mountain level in the Lynx version.

Wolf3D
in Atari Lynx
I found a couple YouTube videos which show different versions of a Wolf 3D Demo for the Lynx:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKCj1drkkag
Looks like the Lynx would have the ability to handle a finished version of the game rather well.

but from Telegames is the Chip-on Version like my Copy of Desert Strike...
Not the usual Curved Lip Cart
Telegames must randomly decide what kind of cart goes in their boxes, because I ordered a complete in box copy of Double Dragon from Telegames just a couple of months ago, and the cart is the usual black, curved lip cart. The box also looks just like the official box that the game originally came in back when it was originally selling. The instruction manual, however, looks like a very cheap printout. It seems that they took a scan of one of the original manuals and just printed images of the pages on a single large sheet of paper that folds out almost like a poster.
Video 61 sells "brand new" copies of Double Dragon for $99.95.
http://members.tcq.net/video61/lynx.html
If you want to order from them, I would first ask what exactly the cart, manual, and box will look like before paying.

The link that MrBland gave above, so this one: http://d.hatena.ne.j...=*[ATARI LYNX]/, shows two screenshots of "Poker 110," which is also called "Homebrew Poker" if you download it from the site in MrBland's list, and which is also called "Manga Poker" if you buy it from the aforementioned website. So they are all the same game.
The game that looks very similar to it in MegaPak 1 is not a poker game but rather is Blackjack. Blackjack has the same solid green background and cute little manga character that deals you the cards in Poker 110 = Homebrew Poker = Manga Poker, but you play the Blackjack card game in MegaPak 1 instead of a poker card game.
EDIT:
Actually, the youtube video given at the above site shows some nice gameplay footage of Poker 110 = Homebrew Poker = Manga Poker:

Pricey Gauntlet looks like a repro
in Auction Central
Posted
I have spoken with this seller personally over the phone and he is a very nice guy. Unfortunately, it just seems that he has not performed much research into things over the years before making purchases. Thus, after talking with him about some of his carts, I am firmly convinced that he bought carts over the years off of auction sites, not knowing at all whether they were genuine originals or not. Thus, if he tries to sell some carts without firmly stating if they are originals or not, it's because he himself does not know.
As for this copy of Gauntlet, which is still up for sale at the moment, I must say that it is very strange that the label on the cart matches what appears on the front of an original box for this game rather than what appears on the front of an original cart for this game. This does strongly seem to indicate that it must be a reproduction, unless Answer Software happened to make 2 variants of the cart.
Does anyone here happen to know who would have made a reproduction of this game using the image from the front of the original box? As far as I know, the reproductions made by Hozer did not have this type of label on the carts.
