  1. I worked on this over the weekend. I followed the instructions very closely, but with these two minor differences:

    • The controller I used was a model NES-004, not a model NES-004E. They look exactly the same on the outside; they're both the standard rectangular model. The interior layout is the same as well, except that the NES-004 is missing the two resistors in the upper left (R1 & R2).

    • Rather than hacking the cable off of my 7800 controller, I used a Sega Genesis extension cable (all the wires on the inside were color coded the same).

End result? It didn't work. Pressing "right" on the controller registered as "up," and that's it. No other buttons responded. I checked with a multimeter, too; I wasn't even getting signals on the other pins! I'm thinking maybe the wires on the extension cable had the wrong color codes?

    Anyone else tried this successfully?

  2. Well, I think they're designated CX78, but I could be wrong.

Anyways, you know what I'm talking about: the NES-like joypads released for the 7800 in Europe. I'm thinking of nabbing one or two...are they worth it? Good quality, control, ergonomics, etc?

  3. Here's what I'm looking for:

    Alien vs Predator (Jaguar)

    Rayman (Jaguar)

    Missile Command 3D (Jaguar)

    Syndicate (Jaguar)

    Doom (Jaguar)

    Raiden (Jaguar)

    Cannon Fodder (Jaguar)

    Commando (7800)

    Ikari Warriors (7800)

    Ninja Golf (7800)

    Xenophobe (7800)

    Ms. Pac-Man (7800)

Atari 7800 joypad controller (the NES-esque one)

    I don't care if they're cart-only. I just want to play 'em.

  4. Here's what I've got. All games are cart-only, unless otherwise stated:

    Baseball (7800)

    Batman (Game Boy)

Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones (NES)

Freeloader (GameCube) Boot disc to play import games; complete with case and manual

    Food Fight (7800)

Golgo 13: Top Secret Episode (NES)

The Hunt for Red October (Game Boy)

Star Tropics II: Zoda's Revenge (NES)

I accept Paypal and money orders only. I'm a very responsible seller; I've got 180 feedback ratings on ebay, all positive. See? :D

Want to trade? Here's what I'm looking for:

    Ikari Warriors (7800)

    Ninja Golf (7800)

    Xenophobe (7800)

PM me with offers. Please don't ask "how much do you want for (item)"...just make me an offer, willya? ;)

  5. You can get them from www.play-asia.com, as well. That's where I bought my front-lit GP32. :D

CaSTaway ROCKS on the thing, too. Plus, it gets updated nearly every day!

To answer your question, Han: You can either use PC-Link (the official software for your computer) to transfer files, or just buy a SmartMedia cardreader, which is a lot faster.

  6. High price? it's $50 more than a GBA SP right now and it kicks the shit out of it and will play everything the GBA has. I think if a US company picks up the GP32 and mass markets it, it will slay the giant.

    Mock :D

The GP32 is $80 more expensive than a GBA, and the GP32 fronlit is $110 more expensive than a GBA SP. That's quite a large difference. Not that it stops me from wanting one, of course. ;)

  7. No, the GP32 links up to your PC (for media download), it won't work on a Mac so if I had one, I'd be limited to playing the poor selection of game carts they have on offer.

Mind, if I had an iBook with MAME, that WOULD be my portable gaming needs sorted.  This iMac DOES have a handle on it, but I wouldn't want to carry it far:)

    Look here:

    http://www.deadcoderssociety.tk/

Plenty of Mac GP32 utilities. :D

Plus, if all else fails, you can run Virtual PC.

  8. I need a photo of the main circuit board; specifically, of the resistor marked "R3." It's underneath the heat shield, so remove that, otherwise you won't see it. The resistor is on the top of the board, over on the left, directly above the "1993" copyright. If you can't provide a photo, I at least need to know the exact value of the resistor; mine needs to be replaced, and I don't have the old resistor anymore. :(

  9. Hope you're feeling better soon.  If you get hooked on Rayman, check out Rayman 2 on the Dreamcast someday, very good sequel.

And don't forget the recently released Rayman 3!

Oh, if you can't find the original Rayman for PSX, the GBA version is a damn near perfect port.
