  1. This one works amazingly well. The only complaint is S-Video looks like garbage on SNES and N64 so it's obviously a tech issue with Nintendo for some reason, but the composite upscaling looks great anyway. enKo products Mini AV RCA Composite & S-video Video R/L Audio To HDMI Converter With High Speed HDMI Cable (6.5 Feet / 2 Meter) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KXDS77M/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_gTpAzbCJXY4EF
  2. That's the one. $45 not including tax and or shipping. Worth it. Looks great. Sturdy cable and the S-Video is very carefully separated from the composite cord to avoid signal interference. You already got a CRT so this may not matter but I'm using a very affordable upscaler that takes composite and S-Video and does a great job. Enko box for $50 on Amazon and I'm enjoying playing on my big TV.
  3. Yep looks and works great. Their extension cable works fine also. More than I can say for crappy ones I got from Amazon for Sega systems.
  4. S-Video cable from Best Electronics works perfectly! Thank you for the great recommendation!
  5. Then you guys are most likely correct and the cord is defective. Especially considering I'm using S-Video and Composite successfully with same set up for other consoles. @Madman People asking questions to understand something does not equate to them arguing or refuting your explanation. If I disagree with something I'll say so.
  6. Haha lol. Glad you guys have a sense of humor. I have no problem buying from Best. Bradley Koda has been extraordinarily responsive. I'm impressed. My question was "do you lose any picture quality having both composite and S-Video combined on one cable vs. an S-Video only cable? I understand you won't be using both at the same time. Here is how Bradley responded which is interesting. He seems to think there is a difference in cables PAL vs. NTSC: Q. I recently purchased an S-Video cable from the UK, but no sound and the picture is black and white. A. Normal Jeremy. The UK PAL standards for Composite Video and S-Video out signals are different than the US NTSC Standards. They run their TVs a 50 Hz and 220 / 240 Volt
  7. Simmer down with the attitude there skippy.
  8. Per the Best website, their cable is cleaner, better picture quality. Not sure if a valid claim or not.
  9. Has anyone tried the combo cord? I imagine in reality it would be minimal picture quality difference between the combo cord and S-Video cord.
  10. Thanks! Their website is a little busy so I want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Looks like they have one S-Video cable which is a combo cable for $45? Normally I'd prefer a dedicated S-Video cable, but if this is the best (no pun intended) option I'll grab one. Their game prices are very reasonable also assuming they're in stock.
  11. Thanks guys that helps a lot. You said buy the cable at Best Buy? They have them?
  12. No I'm not nearly as handy as many of you guys on here. I'm a RadioShack fix it at best haha. *past tense *
  13. Something like this? WD-40 Specialist Electrical Contact Cleaner Spray - Electronic & Electrical Equipment Cleaner. 11 oz. (Pack of 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AF0OFVU/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_RquxzbCA3YA5F Or should I do the cotton swab, rubbing alcohol approach? Two different games displayed the same with black and white and no sound. Composite works great for both.
  14. I purchased an S-Video cable from a UK seller on ebay. He thought it would work fine. It displays only in black and white and no sound. I found a thread on your forums from Google search, but it was really old which is why I'm starting a new one. In that conversation people were talking about faulty boards, soldering fixes etc, but also someone pointed out that a UK cord wouldn't work properly on NTSC system. Is that all it is? Wrong S-Video cable? If so do you all know where I can pick up an NTSC Jaguar S-Video cable?
  15. I really would like a copy of Towers 2 for the Atari Jaguar. Somebody from this site was going to sell me a copy a couple of years ago, but I was broke and couldn't do it. If someone is willing to sell me a copy of Towers 2 for a reasonable price I will buy.

I can't believe not many people have finished the game. It's still a great game today. It wasn't insanely difficult or anything. I admit it is definitely freaky though, especially playing the marine. The marine scenario is really the heart of the game even though I love playing the Predator and Alien. I've beaten all three. The alien mode is probably the easiest.
  17. My main reason was for getting a Jaguar was that it was the newest thing out. I always have bought the next best thing. I got it by mail with Tempest 2K and Cybermorph. I didn't necessarily buy it because it was Atari or anything like that. I have been playing games since the 2600 though. It was just a cool system which I figured out shortly after had a plethora of crappy ass games. The good ones however are still worth playing and until I bought a PS2 finally the other day I was actively playing my Jaguar. It is pretty original looking so that's nice I s'pose. I would never invest in the cd add on. Not enough games for it and it's expensive. If you're collecting that's one thing, but I'm in it 100% for the games. I've been twiddling my thumbs about buying Towers II, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Saw some movies on Battlesphere and I wasn't impressed. If you had it networked with all your friends, then it would be cool.
  18. I'd appreciate it if you guys could go into detail on exactly what SCART and DVI are, how they are different, and how they compare to S-Video and composite. Also what they are compatible with, what tv or monitors are required, and so on and so forth. I'm always happy to get the best picture I can, but I don't like to use monitors just because it's not worth it to lose that much size for a sharper image in my opinion. Unless I was rich and could afford a mega-size monitor or something.
  19. Sorry for the screwed up link. No the site material is 100% original and none of the material there is pirated in any way shape or form. I did a request for a Wolfenstein Jag remix. A DJ there was cool enough to do a Wolf remix, but he said he did it off the PC version, and since I haven't played the PC version since I was a kid I don't know the difference musically between the two. It was a very dark and cool tune though that he did, and because he used clips of Hitler's speeches off and on throughout the song a bunch of conservative weenies complained that it was pro nazi and some other bullshit, when the obvious mood of the song was meant to be oppressive therefore indicating the seriousness of that time and how depressing it was. I don't think you will find a cooler site than this for retro-gaming and music. I am a huge fan now. I highly recommend "Zelda, the music of my groin" and the Kung Fu remix for comical enjoyment. There are so many cool songs though that I can't name them all. Just check it out and you'll see.
  20. Thanks for answering my question, stupid as it was. On my basic Radio Shack switch box I have S-video for one system plugged into port #4 (just giving an example) as well as a composite/video =) cable plugged into #4 also for another system. When I want to play one system or another for that specific port I just unplug and plug in the stereo cables for that port. Both my S-Video and composite work fine plugged in. I don't see why you would need another box just for composite or just for S-video. My box isn't exactly high quality either. Unless I misunderstood the original question you should not have problems using both on the same box.
  21. Actually I spaced on the N64. What "is" the difference between a cassette and cartridge? I always thought N64 games were cartridges. Also as a follow up question, how much more powerful is the N64 in comparison to the Jag?
  22. No one has responded to my question: Is composite the same thing as the yellow video cord?
  23. http://www.remix.overclocked.org/index.php If you haven't heard of or seen this site yet then you owe it to yourself to do so. It is retro-gaming heaven.
  24. It was and is cool because it was truly a new thing at the time and one of a kind today. As far as I know the Jag is the most advance cartridge system to date, and the whole two 32 bit processors running together or 64 bit if you want to call it that was the best thing out at the time not counting the 3DO. Some of the games are truly unique and awesome. I mean AvP goes without saying. I still play Wolf 3D often. I'm going to pick up Doom one of these days. I own it on my Playstation, but I never played the Jag version. I agree with whoever said that 3DO was their favorite system. I love my 3DO. The 3DO had some really sweet titles in their library, plus the whole cd thing was awesome.
