The game I logged the most time on was probably Asteroids since that and Combat were my first games, and being an only child I didnt get to play Combat that much. Kaboom! is definitely the game I've logged the most amount of time on recently.

I'll have to try that!
How hard did you have to bang it?????

You have to do it fairly hard and try using your right knee like I did. Of course I take no responsibility if anything unfortunate happens to your system.

...well not really. I just hooked up my "new" Atari (thanks CPUWIZ!) and plugged in my fave game Kaboom! As I was plugging in the paddles I accidentally banged the machine. The screen kind of blanked out for a second and then the score 252525 popped up and my buckets shrunk down even though the difficulty switch was still on B.
Ok, not the most interesting story in the world but thought I'd share it. Too bad I didnt have a camera on hand so I could submit it to Twin Galaxies (kidding).

Cords
in Atari 2600
I want to buy a 2600 or 7800 off of ebay but I often notice all the necessary cords do not come with the product. Are these easily available at a store like Radio Shack?
Thanks
Tom

Thanks for retelling the story Ze_ro! I had never heard it before. I have played it recently on MAME and it is a pretty cool game, albeit a little hard to control with my keyboard. No question, it was technologically ahead of its time and an underappreciated game. At least the fishies in the Pacific will appreciate it.

The 5200 controllers, and Atari's fiasco with "I, Robot" probably won't show up (Since their E.T. fiasco was worse, and that didn't make it very high), but I think they deserve a mention.--Zero
Can you please explain the fiasco with "I, Robot"? I've never heard anything regarding this and would love to hear the story.

Kaboom would probably be my favorite. The funny thing is, I never even owned the game as a kid but I just remember constantly borrowing it from friends or playing it at someone else's house. Some of my other faves are:
Asteroids
Combat
Space Invaders (never really cared for the arcade version)
Solar Storm (just discovered this one)
Ms Pac Man
Jr Pac Man
Frogger
River Raid

Since you all seem to have extra joysticks, I'd be willing to take 2 off your hands.
I just hooked up a 7800 a week ago but I dont really care for the ProLine joystick. So if anyone has a couple of 2600 joysticks to sell please PM me. -
Tempest, thanks for the info. I'll look for an updated rom.
NE146, I have the Williams collection for the PC and PS1, but for some reason the PC version is really choppy even though it ran smooth on the piece of crap 386 I once owned. The PS1 Robotron is impossible to play with those controls.
And thanks for saying 2 million is a good score, but I'm sure the world record holder isn't losing any sleep at night.

Arrgh!!! I'm full of frustration right now. Let me explain...I was just playing Robotron (yellow/orange version) when I had finally beat my current high score of about 2 million. I was doing great (even had about 8 men left) when the game suddenly froze and reset. This has happened before but never at such an inopportune time! Does Robotron have a rep for crashing often or is it just my bad luck? It seems to happen about 5% of the time I play which is a lot considering how much I play it. I would just play the version I bought as part of the Williams collection but that version doesn't play smoothly on my system. Any insight appreciated.

Berserk question
in Arcade and Pinball
Posted
My father-in-law is looking to get rid of his Berserk arcade machine. I would take it off his hands but dont have the space. Does anyone know what the approximate market value would be? The cabinet is in good shape and I presume it works fine although it hasnt been turned on in awhile. Any info much appreciated.
