What NES Game(In your opinion) Has the Best Theme Song?
MadZiontist replied to bluejay's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Super Mario Bros. has the most iconic soundtrack. It's amazing in that regard. I haven't heard many of the NES soundtracks in a long time, so it's hard to say. I'm personally a big fan of the scores of The Legend Of Zelda (iconic in its own right) and Metroid. Zelda (Title Theme): Metroid (Title Theme): -
Kurt Cobain playing GameBoy

It's really subjective. While it's tough for me often to get how somebody could prefer Bleach over Nevermind or In Utero, I have to remind myself that it's a matter of taste. They all have such a different style from one another, and evoke different emotions. Personally, I find Bleach to be primitive to their other two studio albums. But it has it's own unique sound that strongly resonates with certain people. -
What sort of price range should I expect for a Vectrex CIB? Ah, thought I heard sound in the PDP vid I saw. Basically what I'm looking for is an adaptation that doesn't exist and probably won't. I'd have to either program it myself or at least be a game director on a project involving its design. I don't know how to program, though I'd like to learn. Getting to a point, even if I started now, to where I could program what I want, the way I want...it's just not happening right now. I did hit up Kiwi awhile back, asking about hiring him to code it. He was too busy at the time. I don't even know what the going rate for such a thing would be. That might not be feasible for me. Anybody have a link to the "Game Director Signup" thread? 🖐️

I checked out some info on it and a video. It sounds and looks really good to me. Not exactly like I was thinking, but I plan on getting a Vectrex now! I've been thinking about it for awhile. It really is a system that emulators can't do justice to. Still would like to see a port with the real name "Spacewar!", closer to the original and on a more accessible platform. But I really like it so far. Not bad. The sounds are kinda much. Too far off from what I'm wanting, plus I want one on a console. Yeah I linked those masswerk versions in the OP. I'm going to need to figure out how to emulate them on a console. I think you can run the PDP binaries in M.A.M.E. which makes that doable. But... Took another look at the PDP original, and read up on it again. Apparently it was originally a 2-player only game. Would especially make that perfect for the INTV Amico. So I guess I'm ammending myself here. I would like something strongly rooted in the graphics, physics, and sound of the PDP original, but with gameplay adapted for a one player mode as well. So far it looks like the Vectrex port is the closest to what I want (if it does have a 1 player mode as well?). I remember seeing somebody on AA post awhile back that they were going to start working on a Spacewar! port for the 2600 (I believe), but nothing ever materialized of it.

The original video game. I think a faithful port is maybe the most sorely missing game from the classic console scene, and gaming in general. It's a grievous omission from a historical perspective. I know there was a 2600 port of it called "Space War". I read that it's sort of a loose port, particularly with the visuals. There was the cancelled "Spacewar 2000" for the Jaguar. There's the excellent looking JavaScript port, JS-Spacewar, but it either has to be played in a browser or a JavaScript front end? (are there any good ones for Android?). Then you have the PDP original, (which can be played in a certain version of M.A.M.E.? but without sound?). I'll have to read up on that again and see what the current status is for running the PDP binaries. It'd be nice if there was a fully playable, user-friendly PDP emulator. I don't think M.A.M.E. (or whatever is currently out there emulating PDP games) is it. What I really want to see though, is a faithful home console port! One that accomplishes the look, sound, and play as close to the original as possible. On a classic console, playable on original hardware or via emulation. I think it would maybe look best on the Vectrex, but play better on the Intellivison or ColecoVision. The ColecoVision would probably give it the best shot to perform well. A port with additonal modes/variations, with new, fun, interesting gameplay mechanics would be great. A modern version with an unlockable classic home port would be amazing on the INTV Amico...but only if the retro port isn't just tacked on, and is true to the original. Most important though is a PDP faithful recreation. I could see CollectorVision doing something like this, considering their excellent Computer Space port by Kiwi. It would have been a dope Chameleon launch title! Why has this not been done yet?! If so, is it some low-key project that might not turn up on search engines that I could be enlightened to?

Very very nice! Maybe one day get this into a website form. Edit: with links to download ROMs!

I liked that meme enough to remix/remaster/remodel it! Bonus items: http://www.mediafire.com/file/t8eujjrwr3p8etn/ As far as the Intellivision Amico: It looks like the Inty brand was put into the right hands! I'm very excited but do have some concerns. Some design choices range from dislike to concerning. I don't like the appearance of the console. I think it's competant, and am encouraged that there will be one in the design scheme of the original INTV, but I have yet to see it. Also for some reason, I can't find a way to sign up for the newsletter from IntellivisionntErtainment.com to be able to get one in the original design. I've tried 2 different browsers. Also the Amico console image on the homepage is SUPER blurry from both of the 2 browsers I've tried (Firefox and Vivaldi). Can't make out any detail. Not sure what's up. Maybe your site is unfriendly with heavy duty network security? I've at least allowed all scripts. Also it would be cool to also have a choice of an Amico in the INTV II design as well, which was the Intellivision I owned growing up, and my first gaming console. The biggest issue for me though is the controller. It doesn't look very ergonomic for one thing. The circular pad seems to be a fine choice so far (won't know for sure 'til I use one though). But the lack of tactile buttons on the front face of it is a HUGE issue! I understand that there's some on the sides, but those don't feel the great to me for many uses in gaming. I also understand the desire to implement a touch screen into the controllers, but not at the expense of real tactile buttons on the face! Maybe offer an alternative controller with tactile buttons. Touch-button gaming is so unappealing to me for most games. Though I love the Android platform and its emulation scene, I could absolutely only be truly be happy on that platform by using either an attachable controller with the device in landscape mode. That or my preffered Android gaming way: the Nvidia Shield Portable and Shield TV. If an alternative tactile button controller is not an option, consider being more radical with the touch screen, and also add front facing tactile buttons in addition to the touch screen. Maybe take some inspiration from the Dreamcast and Nvidia Shield Portable and evolve the controller to appeal to a wider audience. Anyways, that's all for now. Really excited and impressed with just about everything else so far! Amazing work Tommy and the rest of the INTV gang!

Sorry about that to you and anyone else for that. Had a world of errors yesterday. It happens sometimes. Too bad we can't edit the OP in TapaTalk. But this link should be good to go: NES PONG (infidelity): https://www.mediafire.com/download/p4ccp82nm9h81k7 -

I used to love that Nintendo 1st party wrestling game, early on its lifecycle "Pro Wrestling". -

True dat. I have an NES set in a box that has some relatively minor dings/dents, but is in fantastic shape overall. And this is the set with R.O.B. and the Zapper, so it's pretty dang old. It obviously has to do with the manufacturing process/materials mostly, as well taking care to not be wreckless with the materials in storage.

Crash Bandicoot 2600 could be cool. [emoji848]

Yeah the most experience I have with that sort of stuff would probably be taking a 2xSided 2xGames 1xFDS ROM, and splitting it into 2 individual bootable ROMs. So no virtual disk flipping between sides A and B. I'm still sorta surprised I managed to get it done without too much trouble. It was just one of those projects where things seemed to fall into place. Hey I went to send you a PM, but your profile oddly reads "banned" and there's no button to message you.

Yeah I hear ya. I have an NES and an Everdrive. It would be nice. But hey, at least they're freely distributed for emulation use. Sadly way too many devs/pubs of homebrews/hacks won't freely distribute their ROMs, despite their cart runs selling out. Anywho, speaking of RetroUSB, they don't like to restock often, huh? I'm really wanting a CopyNES. I have a cart I've been wanting dumped for years. This Kazzo I bought is about as helpful to me as trying to dump the cart with my Keurig.
