  1. I didn't code this ROM hack. I saw the vid on YouTube and the game's hacker had a link for the ROM on it. I agree though. It woulda been really cool if it had been as authentic as possible. I'm not sure how much the hacker was really "into" the project. For example, some creators are passionate about a project to the point of near madness lol. But it's not bad at all. @Kosmic Stardust, yeah I liked Atario a good deal as well. There were a couple other similar SMB hacks I've played as well. Atario Bros. was probably the best one.
  2. Thanks for sharing the app. Will download.
  3. Thanks a ton for putting a collection like this together and sharing it. The level of care and qualiy you've put into it is much appreciated as well.
  4. I see it differently than what sems to be the general consensus here. I think there are a lot of titles of "questionable" and poor quality being released. But there doesn't seem to be an overwhelming number to me. Generally I'm quite pleased with the quality of the homebrew scene of the past 5-10 years...at least as far as the Atari/INTV/Coleco scene is concerned. Games like Princess Rescue & Zippy The Porcupine (Batari Basic...Hi!), Halo 2600, Computer Space/PONG are among my personal all time favorites of the consoles (I have to put nostalgia aside and be objective). The scene where the modern cart production is really obnoxious atm though, is the NES. And that my #1 console. There's a couple sites that are flat out just offering crap by the numbers, and pressing up hard copies of any halfway decent homebrew or hack. But the VCS/INTV/CV scene is really nice right now. My only issue is when the hot titles are pressed up in such limited numbers. I've only been able to procure a couple of the carts I've REALLY wanted the last few years. This "only 100 copies" shit is for the birds. It really seems like the supply is way under the demand for some of these games.
  5. Whoah! Very nice! I wish I was knowledgeable when it comes to hardware modding. So many ideas, so few means. Atm, I need to put a newer GBA SP screen in my GBA SP (NES Classic model). I just unboxed it recently, and disovered that it was released with the original GBA SP screen model, which is dim and generally horrible looking. Should be a pretty easy mod though (famous last words, I hope not!),
  6. The NES version of Pac-Man is good (as I remember it), and this is a neat lil hack to make it stylictically similar to the VCS original. Well isit's like an NES/VCS mashup! http://www.mediafire.com/download/usq9nu6bp4aayjd/
  7. Don't forget that Duck Attack! has a Melody upgrade! If I had to pick one arcade port that I remember having the most fun with, it was Mario Bros.. No need to slaughter me over this. It already went down in another thread, years ago. I know it's flawed majorly. But at the time, it was a blast to me. I was used to so many of those gen consoles having flawed arcade ports. And the 2600/VCS was not to me, probably what it was to most members on here. I mean I love it and all. But, the first video game console that I ever owned, and was fanatical about, was the Intellivision. I got an Atari 2600 Jr. post crash, as it had all these arcade ports, that I would no longer need to hound my dad for quarters to play. Anyways, it's really that Shigeru Miyamoto game philosophy that I fell in love with. Despite MB's flaws, enough shined through that it was a lot of fun to me. No surprise that a couple years later, the NES and I were in a VERY committed relationship. I traded my old minibike frame for two NES carts. I'd love to see a 2600 hack that corrects the flaws, adds nice screens between levels. You know, that super-fine deluxe treatment that seems to be going around these parts all the time now. I thought there was a MB fix hack being worked on, but I haven't seen/heard anything about it. I need to find out. I'd love to see what Sprybug would do with that game btw. Somehow make it better than the arcade original lol. Freaking David Blaine that guy is. Oh and @Albert, PLEASE more ZIppy CIB's. Chris told me you're the one to spindash about it. Oh and please again (more CIB's)!
  8. Wow, I guess when you fell for the VCS, you fell HARD! Yeah I didn't make it in time for the KSC either. I got ahold of Scott and he was cool enough to let me in on one of the last available copies. Unfortunately we has some issues (both of our faults tbqh), and misunderstandings. So I really had "bad vibes" towards the cart, and didn't even enjoy seeing it, or playing the game. That's the reason I essentially sold it for $50...just to get rid of it, and get it in the hands of somebody who would actually enjoy it. I know with patience I probably could have gotten at least $150 for it, but money is FAR from my list of things I regard highly in this life.
  9. Hmm, looks like either I'm blind, or the edit button disappears after awhile. Anyways, I had made a slight error. I didn't purchase the Computer Space/PONG set from CollectorVision, as they were sold out. They were awesome though and referred me to GoodDealGames. The last I knew, they had two sets left when I purchased mine, and I'm wanting to buy the last one (if it's still available). I wanted the colored cart set, but I received the classic old school black carts, which is still cool. Anyways, I can't afford the $150 for another set right now. So instead of hoarding this knowledge to myself 'til I can afford it...I'm letting my kb brethren know about this, in case anybody has been wanting it, but haven't been able to find it. The set includes a download for the ROMs (which is emailed, so you don't have to even open the shrinkwrap, if that's how you roll). I gotta have dem ROMzes, as I don't own a ColecoVision. Oh, and these games were done up freaking proper by the dev (Kiwi I believe). I don't think any of you would be disappointed. http://www.gooddealgames.com/ You'll probably deal with a great guy named Michael. He'll take real good care of ya.
  10. Sorry man! When I logged in that day I wasn't even planning on trying to sell it, though I've been meaning to get rid of it for awhile. Then I saw this thread had been bumped, so I figured I'd throw it out there. It's going to a good owner, that I'm sure will appreciate it. I'm surprised you didn't already own it!
  11. First homebrew cart I ever bought was Duck Attack!. Then Star Castle (the 32,000 version , which I recently sold). The latest homebrew cart/s I picked up are the Computer Space/PONG ColecoVision set. I know they're technically ports of arcade games, but they're also still technically homebrew, as they weren't based off of the original code (well imo and afaik ). Mad props to CollectorVision who were AWESOME to deal with btw, and very accomodating. And the games and packaging were def worth the $150 price tag to me. Beautiful set.
  12. I forgot to add that there's no box or manual. Just the cart, plus the CD-ROM with all of the digital materials. These would be the ones that were posted up for free eventually by the KSC starter. It is a professionally pressed CD though. Edit: The cart is currently on hold/possibly sold status. Thanks to all who responded.
  13. I have a copy for sale. Brand new, and has never even been inserted into a console. It's the transluscent cart that lights up according to the gameplay. If anybody's interested, just send me a PM.
  14. Hey y'all. I meant to post back up sooner, but had some login issues. I appreciate the sentiment, stardust4ever. I didn't take any offense to atariboy's crticisms of this hack (its base games was SMB3 btw). Anyways, my reaction to ab's comments was more of hmm... I'm struggling to explain at the moment lol, but I had the same type of feeling about his comments as Torr did. Some people might look at Van Gogh's Starry Night, and come away saying "I don't get the appeal. I'd like it if it were a photo-realistic painting though". I'm not saying that he didn't acknowledge it's technical merits, cause he did. Some things he said were absolutely true. I guess the main part of his postings that I found baffling, was this part: To be fair, in a way, this hack is pointless. Then again, so is every other hack, and original video game ever created. So I guess it boils down to either you "get it", and like it, or you don't. Either way, there's nothing wrong with anybody's opinion of it. I love this piece of art from infidelity though, as I was really diggin' his previous hack, Zelda: The Legend Of Link.
  15. I've owned the Shield Portable since late last year and can't recommend it highly enough. It quickly became my favorite gaming device, as it rocks at emulation unlike any other device of its kind, which is mostly what I'm into. The problem at the moment for those interested in owning one, is that Nvidia took the Shield Portable out of production recently. The after-market price keeps climbimg too. Stock has been sold out for about 2 months now, and the cheapest NIB Shield Portable on Amazon is $575 at the moment ($589 on New Egg). I heard from somebody on the geforce forums that Nvidia is planning on re-launching an updated version (not the NSP 2)...something along the lines of what Nintendo and Sony do with their devices: revise the hardware w/o launching a true platform "successor". No official word from Nvidia yet though. One of the hardware upgrades rumored, is a new chipset, featuring the Tegra X1. Another mentioned a slightly larger screen as well (5.66"). There's a bit of weight to the rumors of the new portable, as apparantly Nvidia certified a portable device in early March this year. I badly want Nvidia to release either/or an updated Shield Portable, or the NSP 2. Looking forward to the Shield console with the Tegra X1 this May, either way though. Oh, and somebody earlier asked if there's a spot on the web where Shield Portable owners gather, ask questions/give answers, etc.. There's a couple at least: https://forums.geforce.com/default/board/111/nvidia-shield/ http://forum.xda-developers.com/nvidia-shield One more tidbit for Shield Portable owners: Half-Life 2: Episode 1 (which is currently supported/available for the Tablet only) runs fine from my brief testing (and what I read about it) on the Portable. I could swear though, that HL: E1 used to be available for the Portable as well. I got a Google Play card recently, went digging for it on the NSP's TegraZone market, and came up empty. I was like WTF?! I couldn't find any mention of it on the web anywhere either. Either it was available for the Portable for a hot minute, and Nvidia pulled it to have another "Tablet exclusive", or I'm losing (more) of my mind lol. I don't think so though. In fact, I could swear that I ran across it many times on the TegraZone and just passed on it, planning to buy it soon. It's not highly likely that I would have even known that HL: Ep 1 was even available on the Shield platform in some way at all, as far as I can reason. Glad I got it and it runs though. Well it booted and I didn't notice any issues after a few mins of testing. I guess it's possible that the whole thing could fall apart at some point during gameplay, but I doubt it, fwiw.
  16. I bought a Pi B+ earlier this year. I started to set it up, but discovered at a certain point that a USB KB was needed (which I didn't have). Shortly after all this the Pi 2 was released, and I plan on buying one, and a USB keyboard this time lol. Edit: oh and I see no point in the Pi B+. The Pi 2 has the B+'s compatibility, and better specs.
  17. My bad, this has already been posted up. Will an admin or mod please close.
  18. I didn't grow up owning a PC. But when I did get a chance to play on one, Bruce Lee on the C64 was probably my most played and favorite computer game. I've been stalking the progress of this one for what seems like quite awhile lol. This port essentially captures both the fun (and maybe even adds to it in some ways) and the charm of the original, polished and updated for a classic homebrew port worth the wait. 19. Yeah I like this NES version better as well. I'm glad that SMAS on the SNES existed the way it did, but not in place of something as exquisite as this. Glad we got this now.
  20. Since I'm unable to edit my post (or figure out how to), I just wanted to post up that the previous upload isn't [R25]. It's actually the release from earlier today, notated as 04-12-2015 Release Take 2. Since then though, I've revisited the forum that the author (infinity) is hosting the hack, and he has just (HOT off the presses just!) released [R3 Final]. So here's the link for that: Super Mario All-Stars NES (SMB, SMB2j, SMB2, SMB3 Hack + SRAM) [04-12-15-R3 Final]: Link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/f5qsved4vyrb0kv Oh, and this time I also included the proper base ROM for this hack "Super Mario Bros. 3 (U) (PRG1) [!]", for those that like to patch ROMs themselves and whatnot.
  21. This was released recently, and here's the revision just released today. This will probably go down as one of my favorite "demakes", and is an instant classic to me. Awesome sauce job from infidelity, who also released the very impressive The Legend Of Zelda hack: The Legend Of Link, late last year. I tested the game on Nestopia v1.40u6 Mod, and it ran swell. I read that many other PC emus will run it too. I also tested the game on a few NES Android emus, and it ran swell as well. Here's some of infinity's notes, not present in the ReadMe: Link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/zbgsp5xbdi55aqi
  22. Nope. A complete Atari 2600 (or any console really) hacks and homebrews collection is essentially mission impossible. But I still try!
  23. Thank you, thank you. Yeah the date seems like ages ago, by the hacks & homebrew scene's standards...and well it basically is! However, and unfortunately, this was the last/latest set that was posted from this member of this collection. However, and fortunately we do have this collection at all, and it's a good one. Here's hoping for an update at some point though! And thanks again for this set Mark T .
  24. It doesn't appear as if that FileDropper link is good anymore. I tried downloading from it, as I couldn't find the ROM set on my PC, and thought I had lost/accidentally deleted it (or something to that effect). But I just found it, and uploaded it to one of my file hosts (MediaFire). I believe this is the latest releaesd version of this particular set. So here yall go, enjoy. All Atari 2600 Hacks, Homebrews, Conversions, ROMs [v2] (01-14-2013): http://www.mediafire.com/download/5xk7swv6a95mi36
  25. I've never hacked/modded a GBA or NDS, but they can be. I'd particularly recommend that you mod the NDS instead of the GBA, if you're going to. But this is the only way to play the original Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! on those consoles, as official versions replaced "Iron Mike", with a character named "Mr. Dream". If you own a PSP, even better to mod, imo. I have a modded one, and have MTPO on it.
