5200 system for $230 or trade for a flatscreen tv?
sqoon replied to Video_Invader's topic in Atari 5200
$100 for that is delusional. Clueless people do more harm than good to video game pricing. -
I picked up a Sega Master System console and games from a Craigslist deal a few years back where somebody used a soldering iron to gouge their social security number into the plastic in 2 inch tall characters. Worst idea I have ever seen, especially in this age of identity theft.

good common ground NES controller with turbo
sqoon replied to grips03's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I think NES Satellite has a turbo function as well. -
I wish there were one.

That picture in the OP has actually been floating around the internet for many years. I remember doing a search for game controllers about 6-7 years ago and stumbling upon that image.

Would be cool if retrozone or some such site could locate the ROM and release it on cartridge.

Hitz was a hit on my cube for many years. Haven't played it in quite a while though

If the box and contents are immaculate, then $100-ish. If the box is worn and manuals and inner packaging materials are missing, then $60-$70 sounds right around my neck of the woods. Hope that helps. Keep us posted as to what you decide to do.

Google Doodle Includes Atari 2600 E.T. Reference!

I fell into that pit and couldn't get out. Must have been that rope I threw away earlier. -
What about the Eskimo who jumps across ice flows in Frostbite? If that isn't racial profiling, nothing is.

Video Game Archive Indiegogo Campaign!

How detailed will the data sets be? Scans of instruction manuals, jewel case inserts, labels, etc? -
So did Imagic actually receive a cease and desist letter to stop selling VCS Demon Attack? Seems strange because there were lots of them sold.

Where does the game cartridge plug in on that thing?

I had a 5200 joystick with a broken trace once. The only way to track these down often is with an inexpensive continuity tester. I ended up buying a replacement cable off ebay for relatively cheap and the problem was solved. You also brought up a good point. Those cable wires are at least 30 years old. I would not kink or bind them any more so than absolutely necessary. I have seen NES and Xbox controller cables ruined by people wrapping the cable tightly around the controller for storage. Not a recommended practice. All my controllers go into plastic storage drawers with cables lying in relaxed and untangled states.

Soak a toothbrush in 91% isopropyl and scrub down into the controller ports vigorously. All dirt and grime should be gone.

TALES FROM THE GAME ROOM 05: MATCH 5
sqoon replied to Tales from the Game Room's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Biggest issue for me is the price. I don't know about pricing on Elektronite games, but $40 is about the tipping point for my budget. Lately, especially on the Colecovision side, all the releases are priced at $60 each. -
Yah, he sort of dropped out of sight after offering some nice looking labels. Sad to hear about the poor service. I never could afford his complete sets so did not know.

I will say that although I enjoy playing this game some, it does get repetitive quickly. I only wish Imagic had changed the level design much like Nintendo did with Donkey Kong. Maybe instead of always climbing identical buildings, the beast could have been stationed atop the Eiffel Tower, leaning tower of Pisa, Space Needle, great pyramid of Giza, etc. Hey, maybe that's an idea for an ambitious homebrewer out there.

TALES FROM THE GAME ROOM 05: MATCH 5

What's Ashley, ground beef? -
There was a guy who posted on these forums and over at Sega-16 who printed professional looking end labels for 5200, Jaguar, 32X and N64 game cartridges. Search for "end labels" on these forums or over there. I think he may no longer be making them though. They were also kinda pricey because he only sold complete sets. I seem to remember a complete Jaguar set going for over $100.

TALES FROM THE GAME ROOM 03: WORM WHOMPER
sqoon replied to Tales from the Game Room's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Thanks for the insightful review. I have always wanted this game, but it continues to elude me, mostly due to crazy prices. I do have a game review request: Tron Maze-a-Tron. It is just such a strange game that I have never fully understood the premise or complete goal in the gameplay. -

Ashley, I like your reviewing style. No excessive headbanger music and lack of expletives that are so prevalent among the youtube game reviewers these days. Something I missed in this review: Are diagonal rows of 5 or more items scoreable as well? -

Now I have that song stuck in my head. -
I am surprised that ebay allows auctions like this on their site. I remember the days when DMCA laws were rigidly enforced by the ebay police.

TALES FROM THE GAME ROOM 04: DRACULA
sqoon replied to Tales from the Game Room's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Considering how the console wars played out in those days, it always struck me as ironic that both Mattel and Coleco garnered licenses of Burgertime for their respective systems. You would think that one or the other would have demanded exclusive rights to the home version of that game.
