I'm very sorry to hear that, he was always very friendly to me. Wherever he is, I hope he's doing OK. Sorry, I'm not trying to derail the thread here. I also have a couple of ball-modded CV pads I got from Yurkie, and they're pretty great too... definitely a massive improvement over the stubby regular sticks. I've never like the "buttons on the side" thing, though. At least they're easier to press than the ones on the Intellivision pads.

I use an NES pad with a convertor that I bought from the.golden.ax years ago, and it's fantastic! I wonder whatever happened to him, btw? He seemed like a really great guy, but I never see him around anymore.
