Mine just arrived in the mail. Couldn't be happier!

I can buy loose, working DMG-01s all day for $20; that's just the going rate. (my local Play'n'Trade, Game Trader, ax's sale, etc.) And of course, I pick them up off craigslist and yard sales for anywhere from $5 - $10, usually with a handful of games. I even get lucky on eBay every so often and win a low first-bid lot. (Picked up a working DMG-01, CGB-001, and two carrying cases for $25 shipped a couple months back.) As for boxed systems, I've seen those go for anywhere from $25 to north of $50 on eBay, and there have been listings on Yardsellr that also have them going for around the $40 mark. Although as you mention, there's certainly a difference among hard-core collectors between "boxed" and "pristine boxed"; personally, I'm willing to accept a bit of rubbed edges and pressed corners if it means saving a significant amount of cash. But then, I'm not the type to keep my collection behind glass, either. Or maybe I'm missing something--what's a "b/w GB box"? (Not sure what the "b/w" stands for; black and white?) Is that something different and more collectible than the standard DMG-01 box? I did a quick search and ran across this (looks like the Japan release), so I was wondering if that's what you were talking about.

You paid $40 for a GB Classic box minus system and game, and you think it was the world that was sleeping that day? The box would've had to have the Nintendo seal printed in literal gold for me to pay that much. But hey, glad you're happy with the purchase. I suppose that's ultimately the metric upon which we should rate the cost-effectiveness of our purchases.

eBay prices: $40 tops. AA prices: probably no more than $30 with super cheap shipping (and that's assuming the box is in good to great condition). Of course, as with all things, they're utlimately worth whatever the biggest sucker who wants it is willing to pay. (Hence the reason so many sellers insist on listing FO instead of just an asking price outright; they're hoping to catch that cross-section of eager sucker who wants what they're selling and who isn't fully aware of what it can be had for on eBay, Yardsellr, eCrater, et. al.)

Keep driving heavier trucks over the bridge until it breaks... Like others, this makes me wish I didn't already have a sizeable SNES collection. If anyone's looking to get into SNES, this is the best opportunity you're going to run across. Better jump now before someone beats you to it.

Paid $40 shipped off eBay for my unboxed stick a few months back. Wouldn't have minded have a nice box to put it in and the manuals to go with it, but I don't know if I could have justified paying an extra $35 or so for them. Still, 'grats to whoever picked this one up. Now bring on the 3DO hard shell carrying case.

Yet another smooth transaction. Bought a couple Sega CD games, a 7800 cart, and a 2600 Adapter for my Atari 5200 from him. Got here super fast and nicely packed as always. Thanks ax!

MG gave me a good deal on a boxed Atari 5200 in great shape. Package arrived and it was packed to be hurricane proof. Great guy to deal with, excellent demeanor, and did right by me 100%.

Does the PowerBack still hold a solid charge? Or are the NiCad cells long since dead?

Pardon my ignorance, but is Pacman on the INTV a rare cart? And if so, why? Seems like that would have naturally been a big seller.

The picker shows have really jacked up people's expectations of what "vintage" electronics (and really vintage anything) are really worth, cash-wise. Sure, there's more people into the hobby then ever before. But still--when I see a loose NES console with no games listed for "$200 firm" on craigslist, I just have to shake my head and mutter a curse against those stupid shows like Storage Wars. Sure, no one has to buy these at the ridiculous prices. But the sad truth is, these stupid-priced listings have the effect of artificially buoying prices overall as people are "educated" when they see these ridiculous listings to think that those are the going rates. Sort of the same way most antique shops seem to have started pricing their stuff according to the highest BIN they can find on eBay. Ridiculous. About time for a vintage videogame crash, I'd say.

Shoot... I was just up in Bowling Green picking up a boxed NES last night. If I'd known you had this for offer, I might've driven the extra bit to pick it up.

Ah, the good ol' AK2. Best flash-cart for the DS, bar none. As I recall, it was compatible with both the DSi and the XL, but I don't remember if it would work in a 3DS or not. I could probably Google it and find out but.... meh.

I seem to recall ColecoVision's Expansion Module #1 being rather a large seller, especially with Coleco using it to drive their "CV has the biggest games library" advertising campaign. Pretty sure that moved more than a few CV units. Not to mention Expansion Module #2 (trackball). I don't rightly recall if that one was a big seller or not, but it was by far the best hardware add-on for a classic system I've ever used. Awesome, awesome quality trackball, that. As for the CV Wheel and Super Action Controllers, even though they were (at least at some point) referred to as "expansions", since they didn't actually plug into the CV's expansion port I don't really think they count. And yes, Sega CD was also a big seller and helped give the Genesis at least some competitive advantage against the SNES once Sega started losing ground in the great 16-bit console war (I well remember the excitement of CD-based games as the age of optical media first started taking off). The 32X on the other hand was a monumental flop that should never be used as an example of a system-selling add-on.

I'm wanting a 3DS, but I'm already stretched way out for the month. Besides, the first-run models are only going to get cheaper over the next couple years, so no harm in biding my time. Seems like a great buy on this lot you're offering though, RS. Someone who's in the market for a 3DS with a respectable library of games out the game should definitely considering making an offer here.

Bought a disc+manual copy of Guardian Heroes for the Saturn from AoD. Arrived quickly and in perfect shape.

I guess it was because the screen was grey (or green) scale, but I never minded the GB Phat screen so much. But with both the GBC and the original GBA, I could never seem to get a comfortable balance of lighting and glare. That being the case, I can't recommend the V3 Ultra backlight for the original GameBoy highly enough. http://www.nonelectr...239db61fc775020 It's a fantastic, affordable, and easy to install upgrade to the old GB which makes it a joy to play in any lighting scenario.

A great buy, this one. SMB Deluxe is my favorite entry in the Mario franchise, and is fantastic fun when played on either a GBA SP or the Gamecube's Gameboy player. (Not so much when played on the GBC's woefully unlit screen.)

I bought an identical one of CobraDVS, and it is indeed a thing of beauty. Doesn't take up any more space than a loose Genny sitting in some old carboard box. Plus, you don't have to worry about box crush, so stack away.
