  1. The Virtual Boy was such an underappreciated system, and so far ahead of its time. (Ocular Rift, anyone?) It just needed a few design tweaks (wearable without the stand, full color LCDs), and it would have changed gaming as we new it back in its time. Oh, and they also probably should have given it a name that didn't make people expect it to be the next Gameboy. Suffice to say, I love me VB. I have mine with the original box AND the Blockbuster rental case. (Best way to store your VB, hands down.) And I'm down to only needing Jack Bros to have a complete US collection. Not all CIB, unfortunately, but still... loose cartridges are best anyway for a system that I actually play on a regular basis.
  2. Thanks ax! Looking forward to see what surprises are in store.
  3. Bought an original Gameboy DMG-01 lot from Yurkie for a good price. Arrived super quick and was very well packaged; no damage at all during shipping. Great seller and I look forward to dealing with him again!
  4. Kills me that I had this game back in the day, but stupidly traded it in towards Double Dash. Terrible, terrible move from the days before I knew better.
  5. It would be if you were using regular rough sandpaper. But using 2000 grit paper with gentle pressure only removes the most superficial top layer of grime and oxidization on the contacts without stripping the brass. Like I said, I've only ever encountered one cartridge out of hundreds I've had to clean that I couldn't get to work. Don't knock it till you've tried it when all other cleaning methods have failed.
  6. It really just depends on whether you get lucky on eBay or not; you might get one for as low as $15-$20 if you hit a listing that ends in off-hours. Current BINs are pretty much worthless as a data point, as any that haven't been bought yet are naturally sitting because they're priced higher than the market is willing to pay. It's only relevant to look at the completed listings, as this shows final auction prices and the BINs that have actually sold. That being said, I priced TMNT a couple months back, and it was averaging in the low $30s (after shipping), so $38 shipped might be close to the going rate now. But seeing as this is AA, I think it's generally expected that sellers here will do at least a few bucks better than what you find on eBay. Otherwise, what's the point of buying from a private seller as opposed to someone on eBay where you have tons of buyer protections?
  7. Got my set, and they are indeed awesome. Not nearly as big as the Space Invaders set, but perfect for sticking up on a wall in your game room. Get a some neon blue, green, yellow, and pink neon paint, and you can make an authentic-looking, blacklight-reactive Berzerk playfield. Great stuff; CC does good work.
  8. Model AGB-001 or AGB-101? (You can tell by looking at the back, or by checking to see if the light-adjust button on the front makes it dark or lit versus dim and bright.) I think the silver one is AGB-001. Also... why no PayPal?
  9. Does the two-port 5200 use the same power supply as the 4-port?
  10. No offense, but the pricing on most of your games is just way too high. Loose disc 3DO games almost never go for more than $10, maybe $20 for Star Control 2 if you're lucky. You can buy complete Dreamcast system for $30 at any Play'n'Trade or Game Trader, and $40 for a model 1 Genesis is just right out. Please understand I'm honestly trying to be helpful here, as I really appreciate anyone coming into this forum and offering items for sale. But you're just not likely to get many hits posting eBay BIN prices for your stuff.
  11. It's really easy. Just use Windex on a Q-tip, then wipe both sides of the contacts with a dry cloth when you're done (you can use a stiff piece of cardboard or an old credit card to mash down the cloth against the cart's contacts. And for REALLY dirty or oxidized carts, get some 2000 grit sandpaper and an old credit card (or better yet, a plastic specialty game cartridge cleaner), then fold a strip of the sandpaper over the card/cleaner, then lightly rub back and forth over the contacts until they're nice and shiny. (And if the game was truly bad to begin with, you should expect to see lots of greenish residue on the sandpaper when you're done; that's the oxidization coming off.) Follow that up with a Q-tip+Windex, then finish it off with a dry cloth. Using the above, I've never failed to get an NES, Genesis, or SNES cart working in a good console. In fact, the only cart I've never been able to fix was an "Army Men: Sarge's Heroes" for the N64, and I'm pretty sure that as filthy as that one was, it must have been left in a half-drained toilet for a few days at one point in its history.
  12. Can't believe it took this long. SMW and SMA alone are worth at least $30.
  13. I don't know that they should -always- replace the 72-pin. Most of the toasters I've picked up work fine without replacing the 72-pin; instead, I just polish and re-tension each of the front pins, and they almost always work perfectly after that. But I do think they should at the very least advertise to what extent the console has been refurbished prior to sale, and also clearly state the terms of the guarantee/warranty that they're offering. That being said, it's not a big deal. I mean, I can replace a 72-pin in all of 10 minutes with nothing but a Phillips screwdriver, and they cost less than $10. But yeah--I haven't ever sold an NES that I hadn't first thoroughly tested to make sure it was working perfectly with several games; just seems like that should be a given. But it sounds like the shop where you bought yours didn't adequately test yours before selling it.
  14. Well I've got 8 or so working 2600s in the closet, so I'd be happy to sell one of them to a fellow enthusiast. But I have to imagine that shipping a medium-sized package from the US to Sweden would be cost prohibitive. Anyone here that can chime in on the expected cost of sending a VCS to Pewdiepie-land?
  15. Do you also have an NTSC television to play it on? Also, is there any particular reason you don't want to play the games on a PAL VCS (Atari 2600)? I always thought they were all but identical, sans the minor difference in refresh rate.
  16. Nice seller. Bought a CIB NES title off of him. Game arrived quickly, generously packaged, and in great shape. Look forward to his next sale!
  17. Hello all! Recently picked up a PC Engine and a copy of the excellent Street Fighter II Champion Edition for the system. Great, great game, except that the PCE gamepad's paltry 2 buttons makes playing the game with some characters really kludgy (but about on par with playing the Genesis version on a 3-button pad). I know of at least one gamepad for the system which has 6-buttons and works with SF2:CE, that being the Avenue Pad 6. So if anyone has an extra one of those they'd like to sell for a reasonable price (say, $30 shipped), I'd love to take it off your hands. I've seen a few listed on eBay from Japan for around $45 shipped and up, but I just can't bring myself to pay that much for a game that I'll really only use for one game that gets played at most a few times a year. Thanks guys! - m@
  18. Sorry--didn't see the confirmation that it had sold.
  19. Repeat customer here. Bought a PCE games lot off Jimmy for a great price. Package arrived in 2 days and was very nicely packaged. Great seller!
  20. Wow... that one has really jumped up since the last time I checked on it. Did one of the more popular YouTubers do a recent review or Let's Play of it?
  21. Lol... Skylanders is like crack to my nephews. When they come over, it's all they want to play in our movie room; never mind the thousands of games I have in the upstairs Man Cave. Be sure to post on here if you're going to be selling your Skylanders; I might be able to take some of those off your hands to hold on to as future birthday presents. Just try not to do anything that you're going to horribly regret later. What's the harm in a couple tote bins stacked in one corner of the nursery? Or better yet, install some high shelving and raise your child under the loving gaze of a hundred battle figurines.
  22. G.I. Joe and Operation Secret Storm are the two gems in the lot. I think they generally go for $70-$80 CIB last time I checked. Not sure how the rental stickers would impact the going price. I think the rest all generally go for $30 or less.
