  1. good point sharky - it looks well complicated - I'm gunna give it ago - but it's about time a vintage 2600 programmer-programmed some sort of developement suite - there will be new games all over the place then.

If I can do it my first game is gunna be called atari safari, Ive designed the cover already & got the concept - no-one will guess, it's to obscure :P

  2. This new PSX (if released) has great specs - it blows the xbox out of the water on paper - 120gb hard drive - xbox has 8gb!! etc etc

I'm more than a little PS2 biased (can't help it) but your mistaken if you think this is a higher performance PS2. The large drive is for MPEG recording and would not be fully utilized for most games. The chipset used will have some slightly different features but most of them will not effect gameplay or performance, they are designed to improve it's function as a "home server" type of product.

Taking the IOP from USB 1.1 to USB 2.0 will not make it a better game console for example.

Yeh I know - extra storage, modem & a few other quirks - what is it with 'console' manuafacturers - they add expansion slots & connectors to systems & rarely ustilise them - I though the big gap in the PS2 was meant for a removable hard drive?? why don't they just make this - or even a standalone hard drive & modem??? Why spend loadsa cash on this machine IF it is a PS2 in disguise - Sony maybe 'pullin a Nokia'

Then when the xbox2 is released (I can't see microsoft being any more witty than sony in naming their next gen console) it will probably top that.

I'm sure it will sell well if Sony don't shoot themselves in the foot & say the PS3 will be released 12 months later - I would wait for that. This is probably the PS3 - I can't see any company spending money on R&D-marketing etc just to push thats aside a year later - even for a huge corporate company like sony - that is suicide.

I rarely play games on my PC & I did buy a PS2 for the dvd player - OK so dvd players are cheap as chips now, but when ps2 it was launched dvd players were about half the price - so it was & still is a good system.

The fact that this new one could be an all-in-1 machine - memory stick cards, mp3 etc etc attracts me to that as I have a sonyericsson mobile/cell phone - so with brand loyalty & cross-functionality I think sony are onto a winner..... I just hope it has bluetooth aswell.

The next xbox will surely have many features a PC has aswell - all next gen consoles will all end up that way.

There is a better review here:

  4. Yeah the emulator idea sounds goods - more games-less space - You'd have to be houdini to cram a NES, SNES, 2600 etc etc inside a wooden case - but it would be the challange to make a single system 'arcade 2600'.

Or you could just buy a brand new Cocktail table & spend alot of mony & save alot of time.

You're bound to have these in the states (UK website)

  5. Blackdog: It still hurts talking about it today(losing my 2600 not the divorce)

I like someone with the right priorities :D

Godzilla: you should see the cd-32 version (or see it running on an a4000,) the tmapped pc version is pretty spiff too. but on pcs of the day, it was a LOT choppier than it was on my a4000...

I could have bought an amiga CD32 the other day with frontier - will keep a look out if it's that good.

I used to have the PC version of frontier. But it ran in DOS, & I ain't got a clue about run:///blahblahblah - I'm from the point 'n' click generation  - I couldn't get it to run. I spent days on that game on me ST.

Oh & my ignorance is decreasing - I am working backwards though consoles & computer programming - just about to learn C, C++ etc - then perhaps I will look at DOS commands - lol :?

  6. yeh I'd second that - where are the women gamers?? aren't many here in England

Atari clothing  - brilliant - embarised.. never - In the UK, most people recognise the logo.

Others just see it as one straight line with two curved lines either side & not think twice about it. Just think it was a symbol.

  7. It's a shame - Atari could have been bigger than Sega & Nintendo & even Sony's PS2 today, if they hired the right marketing guys & were still going strong today  - that was what let them down - all Atari fans know what great games & systems they made.

The lynx the best???? It was better than the Sega Game Gear in my opinion - except for the TV tuner that had.

I don't have or saw a Jaguar in action - but I'm gunna buy 1 soon to add to my collection.

  8. I'd love a moog ;)

Ive got a Marshall stack, so I'm pretty happy there.

Heard of a french group called air - they moog it up & play pong in their ''sexy boy'' song/video - It strangley sounds like they have picked a riff out of the Gouls & Ghost's game on the ST aswell?

Moog & Atari - They go together.
