  1. I have a stack of carts I play all the time. The rest just sit nice in a box until I decide to play them. Reminds me of going into the arcade. Hmm, Died at that game, time to go play another. Well back to the other game.

  2. After talking to my younger brother. He explained he doesn’t want the Intellivison II anymore. This system was the last system I picked up that was different. I set the system up and he couldn’t keep his hands off it. So I loaned it to him explaining when he got board of playing the system. I would take it back. That was over 4 years ago. Now I start to wonder if I have too much. Part of it is the room to store everything. Another part is opening up the can of worms that comes with each system. Should I collect just the game, controllers, manuals, boxes, and other items for each system? I have in my mind a small list of items for each system. Lets face it. I don’t even have a place to hook all the systems up at once. The thrift store finds are getting harder to find. Sure they are out there but not like they use to be. E-bay seems to be way overpriced for a silly little $.50 cent carts. Yard Sales are the thing of the past for me. I’m too busy to make it to each sale. The only reason I luck out for the thrift stores is they are on the way into or out of town. Then one of the main things is cash. I admit there are a few items if I had the bucks I would like to purchase. I have decided on thing though. Not to give up hope. Not to sell off my entire collection. For once in a blue moon that all mighty deals that make me smile from ear to ear is still out their waiting to be found. So I leave you with a list of systems and small ideas.

    Atari 2600

(Over 100 different games with the idea of collecting more. For a good trade or thrift find if I have the cash.)

    Atari 7800

(Any game that I do not have. If I walk into a place and they have a good deal and I have the cash. The cart will wonder out with me.)

    Intellivision II

(I have my eye on the Atari 2600 adaptor. If I find it in the wild, with a really good price. I have yet to see any games in a while. At least worth collecting for this system. I got manuals, games, and templates all in good condition when I picked up the system)

    Sega Master System

(Limited amount of games. If I find one I like in the wild I’ll pick it up. Wife and I both have a list)

    Sega Genesis 32X/CD/PowerBase

(This has been an on-going internal argument. I passed up several Sega CD games just because I really didn’t want them. I still have a few carts and Sega CD games on my list to pickup. But that is about it. My wife also has a list. One strange thing is I’m looking for a mouse, light gun, and decently a memory cart. If the items show up for cheap. I have this shop I need to get back to checking with. They get stuff in all the time)

    Sega Game Gear

(The first thing that comes to mind is replacing the plastic cover. It is all scratched. This idea came along after scoring a small pile of games in the wild. Yes, I know the replacement plastic is cheap. But, we are talking money here. As for games not really that interested. I guess if I find another pile of games. Sure why not.)

    Super Nintendo

(A few games my wife and I heard of still need to be purchased. But nothing else is on the table. No controllers, books, manuals or anything.)

One game system I would like to add is the Sega nomad. This is on my list due to the amount of Genesis cartridges we have. This leads us to the ps/2 system. It is in the works. My wife and I both love the games on a ps/2. Plus with several hundred cheap ps/1 games out there. It is a simple quest. Just need to cough up the money for the system.

Well, that is my two cents worth. For those who can see this big picture go ahead and comment or post your woes. I don’t want to sound like collecting gamming sucks. Yes, love to smile when I get a great deal. It just can be overwhelming at times.

  3. I assume one could just e-mail nintendo and that would solve everything. I did read on the site saying retailers only stocked new game systems. So I guess if you had the right channels. You could order a nice stack of new nintendo systems. I know if I had a video game store and those units was U.S. version I would order a couple of pallets. One of NES and the other SNES to sell.

  4. I asume you used a filter. Believe me it started out to be clear. But in order to shrink it down to 15k. It turned fuzzy and my brain was mush when I was done. Thanks for the clear avitar and to the other who gave me a thumbs up. On another note I was thinking of doing a 7800 linux cartridge but remebered somebody else aready did linux.

    Thanks Tons,

  5. My younger brother explained to me he does not play my intellivision II anymore. So he asked me if I wanted the system back. I'm like, YES! So when I get around to picking it up (Nice 200 mile drive). I would like to find the Atari 2600 add-on. What is the proper price for one? I would ask if anybody has one laying around but, I don't have any cash at the moment.

Moving sucks when you spend so long away from the game systems you love. :)

  6. I was thinking of scanning the important pages. Most of the book is nothing compaired to what we know now. More people ever pickup a soldering gun and are not afraid to fix something. Tear into it or whatever. So I really don't need to include thinks like, if you have a bad rf unit. You can try it with another one. It did give a note on how to check it with a volt meter though.

As for the tittle. I tried to think of something that would fit. The space is only limited to so much in the subject. I need to try to refine it to fit more information.

  7. When I get a peice of hardware with a peice of plastic over metal or plastic I leave it on. Providing it looks good. I have ran into a very few peices of electronics that it didn't look good on. I prefer having a peice of plastic (even beat up a little) to protect the item. Then one day out of the blue I would peel it off when it looks like bad.

  8. I would hope the answer is yes.

"Repairing your home video game" Copyright 1984 DATAMOST Inc.

This book I picked up a few years ago. I figured it would come in handy if I needed to repair my 2600 woody system. The Atari 2600, 5200, and Intellivision is covered pretty well. The of the systems listed is basic trouble shooting.

    Covers the following system:

    Atari CX-2600

    Atari CX-2600A

    Sears Tele games

    Sears Video Arcade

    Matel Intellivision I

Tandy Vision (Can somebody fill me in on this machine?)

    Sears Super Video Arcade

Atari 5200 (Seperate Chapter for this)

The book starts out explaining what tools is needed. Followed by an understanding of basic eletricity (Switches and Volage). Then it covers simple trouble shooting like RF adaptor (Swap and replace). It moves on to cover specific problems like a b/w picture for the Atari 2600.

  9. My brother in law informed me the manager that was working at the local software etc. got canned for stealing over 40,000 worth of stuff. Like ps2, game cube, and other systems. Then would turn around and sell them as his own. This was brought up because a guy (former software etc employee) that is training next to my brother in law noted the manager and wondered how he got hired at this new job.

  10. Yes, I heard about the laser disc story too. I'm interested about the video signals. Not that I know what I would do with them. Basic over ride for the expansion port is the way to go. So then you could add just about anything to the system.

  11. I read something about sega not being happy with their supplier in the U.S. for the Sega Master System. Probably got it from this group. Reminds me of when IBM went to DEC (Digital Equipment) for a operating system for their soon to be new PC.

Another stange note. I cried when I found out Atari was sold to JTS for a small amount. I wanted so badly to purchase what was left. If I only made some few wise stock market choices. It would have been easy. To bad I don't like to take risks and never invested into stocks. For instance I was told about the IOMEGA zip drive. Way before hit the maket. Believe me that wasn't the only product. Then again you have syquest that died and at one time I heard great things about that company too.

  12. I hope all the employee's that got canned go and file unemployment. All they would need is at least two employee's and time to fill the paper work. The owner would have to prove they stole stuff.

At least that is how it works in Idaho

  13. The guy who purchased the small video store next to the computer place I worked at was really cool. He had his own private collection and one of the main reason he purchased the video store. Yes, it did have some nintendo/genesis games. He took the rare ones home for his collection. He was very open about his policy to employee's. In fact I could even request a good deal. If I wanted him to lookout for something. He said he would have no problem. H*ll, I didn't even work their. If I owned a store I would just make sure the employee knows the store is a business. Not a personal trading ground. So if a rare item comes in. They would pay a fair and probably discounted price. I was always loose on charging for service calls on computers. So I don't see how I would be any different their. As long as a profit was keeped up. I probably wouldn't care.

  14. My 7800 is a beat up. That is fine with me since after getting the used system. That will be my main system for use. What pisses me off is the condition the 7800 metal/silver bar is accross the top. Looks really bad compaired to the rest of the plastic case.

Any help on fixing it up? Making it look good?

  15. When I picked up my used 7800 from a thrift store was a few weeks after reading you could hookup a 2600 power supply. (After purchase of a simple 1/8" mono jack from radio shack) For some reason their was tons of 2600 systems but hardly ever 7800, 5200, and 2600 jr. systems. Especially power supplies for the 7800 and 4 port 5200.

  16. When I moved to this new city with tons more people I expected something better. What I got was the same as before. Overpriced items, pay before you enter the door, and the same group of sellers in both towns. If you live in Idaho you understand the Boise, Nampa Idaho thing. Nampa Idaho is about 13 miles from Boise.

As for the pawn shop. Their was a pawn shop I picked up a camera from. My wife didn't like going in their because he smelled of pot. He was also hauled off a few times. He did have good rates on most of his eletronic stuff. That is the reason why I picked up the camera. $150.00 with lenses compaired to just $130.00 for the same camera without lenses.

  17. Companies will use any thing in their favor. All they have to due is make sure the information is based on facts.

I remember an automobile lot saying they are the biggest, sells the most, and a few other things in a certain area. So when I drove out to this dealership. They were in the middle of nowhere. It was facts since they were the only Auto dealership in that area, just as they stated on their commercial.

  18. I was wondering if somebody on this group was smart enough to make a cable to interface the 7800 with a computer that would allow cart downloads from the system. Another idea was a cd-rom that could be hooked up with all the roms burned. Then you could boot up the 7800 and the cd-rom take over. Like the Sega cd add-on to the genesis.

Also did the expansion port come with a cover? If so mine is missing.
