  1. This is something new they started doing. The problems I see with it are like this. First the seller is going to spend time looking through the list to see if they have any the person is looking for. Why bother with that when the seller can just list the item. The next thing is they will probably ask for a good price since you are telling them you want the item. Like walking into a thrift store and saying. How much is that? then they quote you some high price. Like 9.00 for pacman when the rest is .50 cents but the one you picked up didn't have a price tag and they won't sell it without one. later, ussexplorer
  2. I didn't think a computer / game system was a bad idea. at least at that time. Since really almost all home computers used a television. But, I always felt there was something wrong with all of them. Few examples. 1. atari 8 bit used re-released carts. No a bad idea but what if you have a 2600. Would have been nice for an adaptor. 2. The adam had that horrible printer for a power supply. 3. No enough support for the computer when it came out. Like the intelivision. 4. Even ibm pc junior had cart slots. But I never saw that many carts. I always found the computer to be a seperate beast. Complete with monitor/televison, printer, floppy disk and tape requiring its own table. I passed out a atari xe because it didn't take 2600, 7800 or 5200 carts. silly me, if I was to pickup all the carts during the day that came through the thirft store I would have had a good selection of carts. Now I hardly see any atari computer stuff and thus not interested. Now look at it today. My idea one day is to build a computer specificly for my enterainment center. Complete with a nice CRT projector with vga input. Tv tuner card/capture card and nice audio card to play and record stuff from my audio system. Plus play games with it, using a wireless keyboard, mouse, and remote. You know the type. Plus what is that again. Myth tv software? later, ussexplorer
  3. I would be interested in knowning the outcome for the holiday season on each retro unit. This $40.00 flash back unit should be interesteing compaired to other units lowering in price to around $15.00. I sortof hope they all have a good year in sales with these tiny consoles to encourage a bigger selection next year. I do admit some of the items I see now is really starting to turn me off. My wife asked me what one I wanted for christmas and I didn't even pick anything really atari. I loved the Activision and really loved the namco joystick. If I had the money I would defently purchase one of each. To be really honest. I'm still looking for one of those 128 in 1 nes clones that looked like a ps1. Once again put on the back burner do to money. Plus that is a little off topic. One more thing: Thank goodness we have one finally with a power supply. Later, ussexplorer
  4. Picked up a loose pagemaster for sega gensis. $1.49 compaired to $2.99. It was there half off sale at savers. They have a few other items like a high defenition sega gensis that I passed on. later, ussexplorer
  5. Two garfield books. One I already have but it is currently at my dads house. The other I didn't have. .75 cents each. Both really good condition. Next was a damaged label defently was a rental loose Guantlent IV for the genesis. What type of mutiport type do I need for this? notice it will have up to 4 players. Oh price of that was $1.99. Not to bad. Not to good. later, ussexplorer
  6. I have a few joysticks. I can't wait to run across a decently priced tac-II stick. The last couple I ran into was 5.00 used. Ouch. But that is okay since I got one or two that needs tlc first. later, ussexplorer
  7. That sports one is horrible. I pass up so many sports games. I get so pissed when I see a stack of sega cd games. Just to find out they are sport titles. sigh. Oh, I do love mappy though for some strange reason. later, ussexplorer
  8. This is what I found at walmart. Only one left. I didn't have the cash for it. It also really pissed me off. Sonic 1 - got it already Altered Beast - got this one already I beleive Golden Axe - got this one already Kid Chamelean - Don't have this and don't care for it Flicky - Have no idea what this is and probably don't care for it. Robotnik's mean bean machine - I want this and don't have it. Really now, one game for $24.00. Cheaper at the store about $17.00. Couldn't they have just loaded this up with only arcade games or just all of the sonic games or something. Were the heck is outrun? so on and so forth. 9. Found one of those atari flashback units on ebay two weeks ago. I didn't say anything about it since I figured one of you guys would notice it and post it.
  10. When I first saw a system a few years back. I wanted one since it looked like a psone. I known exactly what it was. I did not care at all. This was before I had a nes or some game carts. To bad I was a few dollars short or I would have headed home with it. Why, oh why would I purhcase one. Even if I known it was compleletly against the law. Because, I didn't want a gameboy and not all games was being re-released. I wanted a nice full screen and my hands are big. Sure the game boy is getting bigger. But the screen is so small and well you could plug it into a television. But, that was even more money. I had a snes and found that game boy snes adaptor but that was only for black/white games. I didn't want to spend an arm/leg to purhase an oudated console/games/controllers/etc. Plus this thing had a familcom slot in it. Do I really need to go on at what makes them so special. Oh, I do hate the n64 controller designed one. Later, ussexplorer
  11. I was snooping around and found something I have not been able to verify. Apparently there was a cable mfg for the version of game gear that took the TV tuner. That plugged into the same spot and offered you to plug it into the television. It was also to be used with the nomad. That the later version of the game gear will not work. I seen the cable with connector around on ebay. I have not got around to ordering one yet and trying it. later, ussexplorer
  12. Yea there is a few areas around here that are flood areas. That you have to be carefull to find this out from the city or what not officials. Since the first thing the insurance company will do is say. Oh you look you are in a flood zone and we don't cover that. They also make it clear it is not up to them. it is up to you to make sure you have coverage for what you need in your area. Sigh... Laters, ussexplorer
  13. To bad they don't have the man power. Depending on how long the units been under water. They could hose them down and dry them out. Yea, the wood would be qustionable on each unit. But as long as they was not plugged in. One could high pressure those out to a point and dry it out. Pain staken process. HOpefully they had insurance. laters, ussexplorer
  14. I got one for you. It is so light and small the first time you accently pull on the controler it flies off the shelf. I myself wish they would make a sleek compionent based system. Yes, I saw that all in one unit they was selling. I don't want that though. Just a game system. Heck it can be slim that way as long as I can stack stuff on top of it or something. So I can stack it in-line with the rest of my audio/video pile of goodies. later, ussexplorer
  15. Well, I was in Wamart and they are stocking for christmas. With tons and tons of handhelp a/v classic and even new games. I added them up and figured I would least need 120.00 at about 20.00 a peice for eatch unit. So I decided to hit the walmart site and found even more stuff. I admit some of them I'll never purchase. Like snow board, sponge bob, disney and what not. But Atari, intellivison, and check out the arcade legends space invadors. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product_lis...430&sb=61&bti=0 laters, ussexplorer
  16. After months of not finding anything Atari. I found one Atari 2600 RF remote joystick. Looked almost new. This will go to replace one I have that is missing the battery cover and does not work properly. I did look all up and down for anything else in the thrift store but nothing. Perhaps some other guy picked up the rest. Brand new battery in it to for the most part. Later, ussexplorer
  17. Um, did I catch it rigth when they said the genesis came out and the super nintendo followed a year later? I thought it was longer than that and in this area until sonic came along. The genesis was really not to be found. What was this Odyssey patent on video games being shown on tv? If that is the case wouldn't odyssey still be destorting that patent today in some form or another? I loved all the different game footage and thought the repo of the games was great. It does show in some area and probably most. The arcade needs to be backed up with some other type of business. Like in boise the arcade is backed up with other rides, pizza, tickets, and what nots besides just quarter machines. Yea, I noticed it did jump around a bit and some of the images was never matched to anything. The blind girl thing was strange but not unheard of. They should have stuck all the educational stuff in one educational section. They didn't get into some facts like why the video industry crashed except for third party vendors. They did a okay job about the computers and games. That is about all I remeber about it. Geez I wish I had some of those games though. mmmm laters, ussexplorer
  18. They should use the old atari comercials for that under 50 bucks part. That is so funny. I got one for you. The controlers can upload stuff. how about that? So you plug in a box to port two and boom you have more games and such. Hmm, wonder how many people will paint this white or put wood grain sticky paper on it. Snicker. I hate that big red label. I was thinking on removing it if I get one but then again. why ruin someting tha twill be worth 100.00 in thirthy years. LOL. Need to remebr keep the box. Hmm wonder if the box will be like the original red box. that would be cool laters, ussexplorer P.S. when will the laser disc unit be read for it? lol
  19. depending on the design. It might be possible to add a cart slot. Wait, perhaps we can send one over seas and get them pirated. Then it will have a faircom slot. lol laters, ussexplorer
  20. sh*t I though tempest was older. I'll be 29 in october. Thus, finding the systems used at yard sales in 80's. later, ussexplorer
  21. Years and years ago I passed up a tron contoller with a hashed cable at a thrift store. Silly me. later, ussexplorer
  22. I would say it depends on when it happened. If the game came out, paid itself off and then died. Then it got trashed. Then the price went up for working or not. Like in all items. If it was already up in price no matter what. Then the person probably didn't know. I wouldn't have known. Especially before running into this website. Now I know better. later, ussexplorer
  23. Well since I look at pictures before I read. I looked first then read the article. First thing that hit me was most of them looked gutted for parts. Thus, I didn't feel to bad. I don't really feel to bad for conversion too. We have all ran into conversions and some looked pretty good. Others look like sh*t. Well then again the arcade you run into is sortof the same way. Some are nice and clean with good look conversions compaired to just a monitor chucked into something. As for stuff in sheds. That isn't do bad, yea weather isn't friendly but still I bet most of those are par par and as most people say on the forum. If these are left overs from arcades. They are mostly 100% dead anyway. laters, ussexplorer
  24. Actually those markups look on par with me. It is common for some items now to be marked up 100% and I'm not talking diamond rings. Plus if you look at the new suguested retail prices they are through the roof. I remeber back in the day when I started working on computers. My boss said it was normal to mark it up 100% so the computer would run around 2,300 when it cost 1,150 to purchase and assemble. I'm talking those old XT clones. WHen I left comptuers in 97 a 28% markup was nice. But mostly we saw 23% or even 18%. Heck once in a while when we sold computers to schools it was 12-13% ouch. Now you have to remeber the store I worked for delivered, setup, installed any additional programs, answered any questions, and took phone calls among other things all for free out of being kind to the customer. Now you think well that ins't bad but lets say a item dies in the computer or a person wants you to keep going to their house. Yea their is a limit but still that 23% markup could be gone in like three visits or less to a house. laters, ussexplorer
  25. To bad you didn't see a sign there. If they considered it dumping then it is considered trash and unless the city has a ordinance against taking trash. It is all yours. later, ussexplorer
