  Here in CA, they use that for severe weather alerts and also amber alerts. I think it is great.

  They do that here in TX too, but the Amber Alerts here have a loud shrieking sound like a loud air horn/siren wailing sound after the beeps and dial tone. Speaking of that there is severe weather forcasted this evening.
