  1. Got my Wii after December 11th and I have the old strap. I picked it up this past Sunday (the 21st) along with a second remote (which I believe also has the old strap). Looks like I'll be getting some replacements. Those newer straps look tough.
  2. The only thing computer related I've thrown out was the Apple monitor that came with my first computer (a PPC 6100 variant that I still use). It made a high pitched noise and the screen would start to wobble. Banging it on the side usually helped...for a little while. Finally it got to the point where it would completely lose it. The picture would go wobbly then zig-zaggy. I chucked it with no regrets and replaced it with a bigger ViewSonic.
  3. Yep, Trade-N-Games is the only thing I miss since I moved out of St. Louis almost 2 years ago (not knocking St. Louie, BTW). I'd stop in every once in a while and always had a pleasant experience. Very much unlike walking into a GameXchange where you get stared down by bored employees standing around with thumbs firmly inserted in rears.
  4. I like the boxes...probably because that's all I have. For storage, I gut standard CD jewel cases and break off the booklet tabs. I can squeeze 8 games in one case.
  5. Wow those were some quick replies! Thanks for the advice. Looks like I'll hit Best Buy and do some wireless router pricing. I'll have to put it in the basement. Any ideas if I'll have any trouble with the signal passing through two floors? (they're wood)
  6. I have this exact same dilemma. Technically I should pick a game that hasn't seen much use but noooo I usually grab something I've already beaten. I've often thought about slimming down my collection to games I'll actually play (as opposed to games that are fun to play but still don't get played). Many times have I gone through my list and weeded out (on paper at least) games I'd like to sell only to chicken out. It's a sickness really. I don't even seek out full-on RPGs anymore (by full-on I mean turn-based 80+ hours of gameplay, etc.) just because I know I don't have the time to sit through them. Although recently I've been entertaining the thought of collecting all the Final Fantasies for GBA/DS, now that 1-6 are available
  7. I live in the same building where I work. The downstairs has 5 computers on an ethernet LAN (the router's in the basement and is not wireless). I live upstairs and am curious how to go about getting my Wii (and DS for that matter) onto this network. Option A: get a USB wi-fi dongle for one of the PCs on the network. My concern is signal strength. Not sure how powerful those things are. Option B: get a wireless router and tap into the wired router in the basement (is this even possible?). Option C: are there any other options? I'm usually pretty tech-savvy but when it comes to networking, I'm happy to get my own two computers talking. Thanks in advance! Jason
  8. I share the same feeling for a couple systems I own. My only fear is selling a console and finding (or hearing about) a great game for it that I might be missing out on. My 5200 doesn't get much use. I have 9 games for it, all of which I already own on other systems once or twice over. I've always wanted to own Rescue on Fractalus and I've heard great things about Space Dungeon so I hang onto it. The jury's still out... Long ago I had sold my 7800 and its games to a friend only to buy it back about a year or so later. I now use that 7800 to enjoy my Cuttle Cart II. You just never know what may come along in the future that'll make you glad you kept your system. On the other hand, if you don't really feel the love for the system, maybe it'll be better to sell it to somebody who might enjoy it more.
  9. Looks like I'll be hitting Target before they open Sunday. We're supposed to get a bunch of snow Saturday night. Should be interesting...
  10. Order shipped! Thank you Al! *wrings hands in anticipation*
  11. I saw 6 PS3s at Best Buy. They didn't have an onsite surgeon available to donate a kidney for it so I passed.
  12. This was a tough poll. Gotta go with the original. Love the game mechanics and interface. Also, it was my first Zelda and left an indelible impression. My list: 1 Legend of Zelda 2 A Link to the Past 3 Ocarina of Time 4 Windwaker 5 Minish Cap 6 Link's Awakening I've finished all on the list except Twilight Princess (still need a Wii), Oracle of Seasons, and Majora's Mask. The Oracle games are probably my least favorite. They're both difficult to pick up where you left off if you put them away for too long Plus the dungeons seem to be overly convoluted. Four Swords was okay but I'm not too sure about the replayability on that one. Also, it seemed more like a "variation" or "arcade version" of Zelda than an actual Zelda game.
  13. I thought the visuals were pretty good considering what the Lynx is doing (filled polygons), even if the frame rate is chopperific. The controls kill it though. I find that tapping left and right on the D-pad helps a little. I loved the arcade game and until Midway Arcade Treasures 2 came out the Lynx version was my only outlet to playing this game.
  14. My order is still processing but I've had nothing but great dealings with Al. A big hearty thanks to Al. Stellar service and a top-notch site!
  15. Mine's still processing... Looking forward to 5 new games, an AtariVox, and 2 issues of VGC. Oh yeah!
  16. Took a break from Metroid Prime Echoes. I'm at the "morph ball puzzles" part and I keep getting vaporized about 3 or 4 levels in. I'll return to it someday. Gotta beat it before Corruption comes out. I haven't played Resident Evil (for Gamecube) in years. Those damn zombies latch onto you before you can stick 'em with that pocket knife.
  17. I'm still waiting on mine . I hear that the Toyshop Trouble addition to my order is the reason for the delay. No biggie, although waiting is getting harder and harder... It's kinda like the reverse situation of having Zelda: Twilight Princess and no Wii to play it on!
  18. This should have been a poll! - Did you notice that there is no poll this week? () Yes () No () There's a poll of the week?
  19. I'd go for a PC Gaming forum. Preceding topics with [PC], [Mac] when applicable would prevent it from needing further sub-categorization. This should probably be in the Web Site Comments forum...
  20. Not that I'm supporting the cause but if I had to wager a guess, the reason people want to see a "win" scenario is because they don't want their particular system to "lose" and therefore "die" ala Dreamcast. History has shown that three consoles can co-exist in the marketplace.
  21. I always wrap them just how they came out of the box. They always have that "pre-bend" and it goes against the grain to wrap them any other way. I finish off with a rubber band. On the last rubber band loop I band the cord bunch to the back of the controller so all you see from the front is one loop of rubber band. I'm not talking thick banded rubber bands here but the ones you'd see wrapped around a newspaper. I bought a used N64 controller from EBGamestop a while back and I swear they cut off the circulation to the poor cord, which to this day still has crush marks from that rubber band they used. I never could stand cords wrapped around controllers. They always coil on you when you go to use them, like a gigantic phone cord. I especially grimace when I see cords wrapped around the stick part of a CX-40.
  22. Over 100. Counting homebrews...not counting the 2 hacks I have...don't have many dupes... Here's an interesting question (well, maybe not): if you own the Stella Gets a New Brain CD do you count the games on that? I'm not talking about the extra stuff like homebrews, demos, and what-not. Just the released games. If so do you count it as 1 (as in one compilation) or do you count the individual released games?
  23. What's most disturbing about the comic strip is that the issue of characters never growing old slaps you in the face. I'm sure I've seen the Sally Forth strip in the Sunday comics when I was in the 5th grade (ca. 1985) and the father already had a wife and teenage(?) daughter. By the way... Legos
  24. I'm not sure if it can be appreciated just how involved it is to code an RPG, especially as a solo effort. I haven't tried the binaries (CV or Genny) but I've read the threads and all I can say is...keep up the good work! I've been coding a 2-D RPG for Classic MacOS for an embarrassingly long time now and I'm impressed to see how much progress you've made in the past year.
  25. - Get a Wii - Reduce my games Bought:Played ratio - Build more video game shelves - Put my "For Sale/Trade" games in the Marketplace - Decide if I'm going to keep the 5200 or not
