Hi Guys
Had something pretty cool happen with My Yars revenge arcade cabinet recently, Im sure most of you will be aware that arcade owner and restorer Richie Knucklez also made a yars revenge arcade cabinet i think with the guys from this old game, Well i recently got talking to Richie and showed him my cabinet that i had built, He said he preferred my sideart and i said i preferred his marquee so we swapped artwork with each other and somewhat unified the two machines across the globe.
I know several of you commented when i first posted about not liking the marquee so here is a couple pics of how it is now, i think it looks great, So thank you Richie

We need to differentiate this release from D. Scott Williamson's earlier release, so the above artwork will NOT be used for this game. Artwork submitted to the contest will need to be original artwork. I may allow the same title from the marquee to be used, but that would be it. I will be working on the contest page and will post it up as soon as I can.
Thanks,
..Al
I totally appreciate everything your saying Al, Like i said id knocked this up for my own usage way before there was even a mention of an artwork competition, As much as id love to be a part of that i dont have the free hand to do so, So as i also said this is just my own custom that i thought id let people see as you know i like to make my own variations.
Thanks
Yan

It looks great and you can enter it of course (assuming there are no valid copyrights violated).
But since there already exists a Star Castle for the 2600 which uses a large parts of the original artwork, we have to make sure that the new label etc. becomes different enough.
Yeah all of these things you mentioned already went through my thoughts, Ill just make this my own version and when it goes on sale ill buy it but use this label system for myself, I have no idea how long copyrights last for i would be very surprised if any of this artwork is still copy-written, if the super nintendo's was up many years ago this probably is too, And yes it does echo the other versions design but thats a natural step to take, Had atari actually released this game they would of also done the same but i totally understand your notion of creating something different, you would really require a good artist of which i am not, This will remain Yan's custom i think
...............Any idea how long until its made available -

I LOVE IT. This would make such a great alternate package if Al ever decided to do it. I'd be all for it.
Thanks Chris i appreciate that, al has the files if anybody wished to do so feel free, id be honoured

hey guys if you havent voted then you ought too, The Tep man is getting restless for a game creation harvest

-
You heard it here guys the man's interest i would say is definitely raised

-
Congratulations Chris, i find some of IGN's work questionable but there is no doubting their size and this is a great achievement, I love how the guy on the right basically locks up when he has to load the cartridge and holds the joystick like a drunk with a new born ha ha he must be a gamer...........Excellent wotk though Chris i cant wait to see what you produce next

With the source code being available, it's a good prospect for an XM version. The Yamaha sound chip would make it sound arcade perfect.
Come on sunshine you know you wanna

-
it wouldn't need a great deal but i would love to see an xm version of Mario Bros, just more accurate arcade colours, cleaner sprites and correct music, It would also be great to see donkey kong junior given the arcade make over be lovely to have all the Nintendo licences looking gorgeous.

Zaxxon
in Atari 2600
I have always loved zaxxon it was the first 2600 game i ever played and kevin moss kindly knocked up a very nice hack of it for me some months back making it much nicer

Your Princess rescue box looks cool!
Thanks man, I thought it would be a cool alternative design
-
This is obviously a homage to that design, i didnt wish to nor do i like to copy and existing work exactly, I added the ATARI series label instead of the action series and i decided to keep the character and name logo level to show obvious differences from the original whilst still tipping the hat
, Thanks for your feedback though
