  1. Shame you cannot get to play it, Pop over to my arcade ha ha...............I have only been making arcade machines for just over a year and in that time i have made six cabinets, My goal is to make a home arcade of machines purely built by myself, So far i have sold my couch and dining table to make room.

Here are a couple pics of the ones i built so far there is also a space invaders in the next room.

  2. I've had my Turbo since the early 90's. Got it when it was still some competition for the Genesis and before the SNES came out. It's a favorite of my collection and one reason why my avatar pic is of Johnny Turbo.

  3. I think this could be a good idea as long as key Atari features are preserved correctly, i think if your going to produce a system then make something more akin to the 7800 so both formats could be played, I do like the idea of just a pure 2600 also though and as mentioned before with modern tv connections, you could also make it a little more powerful to aide the great programmers that release games here, just as the 7800 has the xm on its way the 2600 could be recreated to sit somewhere between the two, There are many great early 80's arcade games that would make great releases on the 2600 but never did due to technical restraints.

It should also have a region switch included so all us pal users can play the huge and more readily available u.s versions.

I think cosmetically it should take it style from the vader but with a more modern swoopy style rather than the basic block design of the original, switches maybe in a posh metal finish with a super cool silver Atari logo sat under a few mm of clear resin to give it a 3d aspect on top and finished in a stunning almost ceramic black finish, damn it i can see it now i want it.

I love the original equipment but tv connections is a pain i would back a modern, more powerful and multi format machine and just to open a new Atari esqu console would be joy.................Fight the future!!

  4. I would just like to say thanks to mostly everyone's kind words, yes of course a huge company could build a better one, i enjoy and love both gaming and arcades and building them, I never opened the post with " Worlds greatest yars arcade machine " but i respect all opinions.

Thanks to everybody that likes, it really is a lot of fun to play on.

  5. Interesting, but back in the day, I think Atari could have made a better-looking arcade cabinet for the game if they so desired.

Whaaat a multi million dollar company v.s one man in his shed with some tools..............ha ha of course they could make a better one, i never said it was the best i just thought some of you guys might like to see this as its only the second custom arcade ever built and the very first to run a vector based version of the game

  6. Hi Guys

This is something i had thought about for a while and over a three day period of the Christmas holiday i built this, This is my interpretation of a Yars Revenge arcade machine, It runs a vector based remake of the game as i wanted to make it as though it were made in 81' but also runspost-33164-0-55833500-1364468910_thumb.jpgpost-33164-0-48194400-1364468923_thumb.jpgpost-33164-0-65546700-1364468932_thumb.jpgpost-33164-0-40210100-1364468996_thumb.jpgpost-33164-0-89206200-1364469000_thumb.jpgpost-33164-0-11530600-1364469005_thumb.jpgpost-33164-0-87139600-1364469010_thumb.jpgpost-33164-0-32977600-1364469016_thumb.jpg the 2600 original and i just thought id share some pictures as some of you might appreciate this.

    Thanks

  7. Those are nice, but imo, the "7800" needs to be in the proper font. It's Futura LT ExtraBold. If you don't have it, I can send it your way.

Here's a quick mockup (it could be done a lot better if more time were taken) of what it could look like if that font is used and if it's placed at the top similar to the original boxes. Of course, it could be kept at the bottom like you've got it or it could be re-worked to exactly mimic the factory boxes. Again, this is just a quick example of the font Atari used.

Thank you for your suggestions, i like what you've done there but im not trying to make these look exactly like ATARI original designs, i wanted to use the style that kept it within being a 7800 box but not copy exactly, Especially with the xm box, the xm brings in a new dawn of gaming for us so why not switch things up a little, Plus ive already processed and sent several orders so im not going to switch them up now, but thank you for your input kevin

  8. Hey YANDMAN,

    Those are awesome cases.

Just one note, Pac-Man Collection is at least three arcades in one, as it includes Pac-Man Plus which was its own cabinet.

Granted it was only a chip and marquee swap...But still it would stand as its own cabinet alongside the regular Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man cabinets.

Ha ha thanks man, I knew this would get pointed out but for the style i wanted to go with i felt the two main machines were best fitting for the cover

  9. Hi i have made two custom game cases one for the 7800 Pac-Man Collection and the other for the new Donkey Kong XM, The cases are hard plastic like a Sega Mega Drive/Genesis case, They are pretty much the same dimensions as an original Atari 7800 box but come in slightly shorter about half an inch or so.

I'm selling Each case for £8.00 Plus postage and will post to both Europe and the states.

If you have either of these awesome games and would like a nice safe home for them then drop me a message, I will happily work out postage quotes for anyone interested and i accept Paypal.

Here are some pictures of both:post-33164-0-10937400-1363109559_thumb.jpgpost-33164-0-25439800-1363109563_thumb.jpgpost-33164-0-19004800-1363109569_thumb.jpgpost-33164-0-58530900-1363109573_thumb.jpgpost-33164-0-68664200-1363109595_thumb.jpgpost-33164-0-16070200-1363109599_thumb.jpgpost-33164-0-02417600-1363109605_thumb.jpg

    Thanks

  10. DKXM is amazing! Great work as always! You are doing some phenominal stuff!

YANDMAN, how much are you thinking for a box?

I'm gonna say £9.00 per case plus postage/shipping, if your in the states i guess its gonna be about £16.00 all in, if you'd like one inbox me and ill get it under way.

    Thanks

    yan

  11. DK Jr. might be interesting. I actually prefer the 8-bit computer version over the 7800 even though it's graphics are not as faithful. I plan on upgrading Dig Dug next taking advantage of the Yamaha chip.

Id love to see you re-work pole position, its a fun game but given sharpened for arcade authentic visuals and pokey arcade sound this could be brilliant

    Hi guys

Here are some pics of my box i designed for Donkey Kong XM, Its a plastic hard case similar to a Megadrive/genesis case, Its almost the same dimensions an an original 7800 cardboard case but comes in about half an inch shorter in height, A 7800 game fits perfectly inside and i think it will be a nice safe place for this fantastic game, if anybody is interested inbox me.

  13. No update probably means no work has happened. I don't expect things to change with the XM anytime soon. It is at least 6 months away. Maybe longer. I just check the 7800 forum to see if Bob is working on anymore awesome games. I paid for an XM, but for me the moment has passed. I could really care less if it ships at this point. I am tired of the whole thing. The only thing I want to play is Bentley Bear and I keep hoping Bob will figure out a way to make it work without the XM. This secret society of the XM and their mystery games is all played out. The 7800 community rallied around these guys for years now and as a thanks we are constantly kept in the dark and given excuses.

With all the awesome stuff going on with the 2600, Intellivision, and Colecovision why waste time with the XM anymore?

After Bentley Bear Bob is not making any more Atari 7800 games at all, This is his passing shot sadly, And i got this from the man himself so thoughts of a roster of beautiful xm games are not gonna be true, Well not from Bob anyways, The updated Donkey Kong xm looks awesome though.

  14. Loving this Turbo love, I'm over in the u.k and we didn't get an official release of the turbo, But about six months ago i managed to purchase a pal system brand new never opened and that's how it remains i cant bring myself to break the seal, I also have four sealed games, Iv'e played all the games pretty much either emulated or on the wii and i'm a massive fan.

I recall reading spider man comics in the late 80's and seeing the adverts on the back page, I had no idea what it was but knew i wanted one, The picture of vigilante was enough, At this point i didn't even have my Nes so the games looked mind blowing.

Still to this day there is something captivating about that little black box.

I was going to buy another system to play on but as they are now in short supply in the u.k the dealer i bought mine from has now literally doubled the price :(

  15. Can anybody in the u.k please help me:

Does anybody have any good shop contacts for 7800 Games i have a few contacts but stocks are so thin and prices ridiculous , I love my 7800 but have so few games its getting me down, Ebay is generally silly prices.

    Thank you in advance
