  1. There are still a bunch of cars and a golden C64 in her sold listings so it appears the Air Raid was the only one taken down, by her, not eBay because the link was still up last I checked. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/atari-2600-AIR-RAID-GAME-CARTRIDGE-IN-BOX-/111818790477
  2. Every post you've made in this thread has been negative. If you've gotten discouraged and don't want to code anymore, then don't. But please don't discourage others enthusiasm for the hobby. If people create brilliant works of art of piles of crap with Batari Basic, then let them. Whether they want to sell fine art or limited edition polished turds, it is their prerogative. Don't like, don't buy. But please don't Blame the tools for a builder's poor craftsmanship.
  3. Glad to hear you chime in Sprybug. Princess Rescue and Zippy are brilliant homages and incredible works of fan art, no matter what language they were coded in. Now that Zippy is out (or will be shortly) what platforming mascot do you plan on giving the Batari Basic treatment to next? Bonk's Adventure? Lara Croft?
  4. Or googley eyes. Yes, I really did glue these... It wasn't. Trust me. Boredom can make you do crazy things...
  5. But there are billions of little men running around inside your console doing all those monotonous calculations. They're called electrons!
  6. You know what, the Hunger Shark guy did exactly that, and I bought one and it turned out to be a decent game. My only regret was no plushie with the loose edition...
  7. Sounds like a good professional setup you got there.
  8. Will region adapter + Japan system card work with US CDROM? No kidding. US Turbografx CD anything are stupid expensive here, as well as many of the games...
  9. So pretty much only the standalone systems + CD module needs the system card, and System card 3 covers all but the 16 Japan exclusive arcade titles. Right?
  10. Tens of thousands??? Not if you settle for loose carts and common (but good) titles and don't buy every crappy rare game that exists...
  11. Shameless plug. The RetroUSB update to the original ROM works with Vaus controllers too! http://www.retrousb.com/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=139
  12. Neat idea. I'm not really an FDS fan though. There just aren't enough exclusives that I couldn't just play on a PowerPak or Everdrive.
  13. IMO, there are so many different, ***expensive*** configurations for Turbo CD, system cards, Duo vs standalone CDROM, to say nothing of the reliability issues that seemingly plague all the CDROM models. I'll just stick with the base model, even if it means skipping half the total library for the system. At least my Turbo Everdrive v1.2 gives me access to almost every US or Japan Hucard release, excluding maybe Populous (which I probably can't play without knowledge of Japanese) and the five SuperGrafx exclusive games. Also we need a permanent solution to the game save permanence of the Booster/Duo RAM. It's not unfathomable that a collector with multiple retro systems will leave his/her console unplugged for more than two weeks allowing the capacitor backed RAM to die. I'm tempted to start a round of Neutopia but am currently off put by the need to enter ten page long passwords. At least I can save a screenshot on my phone but that won't help me typing them out. Is Neutopia still available on Wii VC??? It would be amazing if someone developed a CD system emulator that piggybacks onto the expansion port with permanent flash memory, and either ISOs via flash card or the ability to attach an old CD-ROM drive via ribbon cable or some such.
  14. I can't believe we are debating this: Lynx -> VGA -> HDMI -> Capture Device -> PC -> Video Editor -> Upload to Internetz!
  15. How much money in R&D costs will it require to produce a display with the variable timings necessary to emulate the vectors? Also you might as well throw in color vector monitors because Tempest. Also give me a call when some industry guru decides to create a 4k screen with a 4x3 aspect and convex rather than concave curvature. They might have a buyer!
  16. You know, there is a generational gap between Atari VCS and Nintendo, however if you look at some of the earlier NROM games for NES and especially Famicom (Famicom was released in Japan in 1983 for those not in the know), they are really just arcade ports or games with single screen arcade like gameplay. Except the graphics are bright and vibrant and fresh and you don't have to use your imagination that that rectangle on screen is really some kind of space ship like you do with Atari games. No, Atari doesn't "suck," but the graphics and sound have a very raw quality to it that is hard for modern gamers to appreciate.
  17. Welcome to AtariAge. There was an old thread where a guy by the handle Backin89 begged for money publicly on the forums so he could buy a Hello Kitty bike for his daughter or some other BS. Some forum members offered to help him out but no sooner did he beg for more. Typical scam artist. The original thread went south quick some time before I joined here. I have read it and it's good for a laugh or two but don't have a link handy. EDIT: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/174216-need-donations-to-help-a-poor-dude/
  18. Somehow I doubt the Retro Freak will work with flash carts. It appears to dump the ROM from the cart to the flash card. Meaning the Retro Freak also functions as a Retrode in some fashion. I accept that it may not work with homebrews with custom mappers but the upcoming RetroUSB AVS will.
  19. I think Krikzz should add support for system cards if he ever does a TED v3.
  20. Because 1 Megabit sounded a lot more impressive in the late 80s / early 90s than 128 kilobytes. I'm fully aware that the actual product codes on EPROMs are related to the size in bits, but typical consumers were never exposed to that type of jargon. Besides all the licensed production games had mask ROMs in them, be it DIP, SMT, or glop top.
  21. What exactly does the Retron5 do that this thing can't? If you're referring to the missing 72-pin NES socket, they have Famicom adapters for that.
  22. So the 5200 trackball is rotary encoded or outputs analog like the joysticks?
  23. I never said it would be exactly the same. Vector monitors will always have a glow to them that you can't emulate. Ditto for flicker effect and phosphor trails. Also the brightness of the lines vary depending on how fast the beam moves and how many elements are onscreen. But at 1440x1080 the lines will look good enough and have sharp detail. Plus if it's an FPGA implementation then you don't have emulation or timing inaccuracies.
  24. Street Fighter II is only 2.5 megabytes, right? There's plenty of 4Mbyte games on SNES and Genesis. Sorry, I don't use "bit" metrics. Pet Peeve of mine. Most ROMs are 8-bit anyway so byte makes more sense. 16-bit in the case of Genny.
