Lookin' Good, although I'm a little concerned about the amount of flicker in the ROM.

This. When are the pre-order books going to ship?
-
I seriously doubt it's doable with Atari graphics, but a 4-player homebrew "mascot brawler" would certainly be possible on either NES or SNES with 4-score or multi-tap. However, expect a lot of lawsuits and C&D orders if such a game ever gets created.

Is there a kit available? I didn't see any reference to it in the Atariage store.I think the video quality is great. I haven't experienced any issues with bleeding myself. I've read through the Batari video mod thread as well and after modding close to 20 atari's using this mod the picture issues that I've had along the way have been traced to other issues (i.e. bad TIA chip, faulty connection, on board trimmers or CTP out of adjustment, etc.) . I think the TV that one uses plays a role too, I've hooked these systems to all the TV's in my home and there is some variation in the quality of the picture. I really got into modding the 2600 from the hobby electronics angle, I just enjoy fixing and tinkering with them; whether or not the picture is an improvement on what it was is largely personal preference. I've sold about a dozen modded consoles on ebay (atariguy1021) in the last 4 months and I've been surprised by the response; nearly everybody has left feedback and people have been extremely happy with them. I expected to run into some issues with the video quality not meeting somebody's expectations or even some sort of compatibility issue with a TV, but have yet too. I offer a full refund if anyone's not satisfied and would likely cover return shipping if a customer was unhappy. Anyhow, I hope I answered your question.

Urggg...
IR controllers suck donkey! Why can't they use RF controls instead? Didn't the Flashback III have a couple of 7800 games on it, or was that only for the Flashback II? -
I saw the Flashback III in Walmart a while ago. I thought about it, but do the Flashback consoles support Paddles? Also, are the joysticks included any better than the stock Atari Joysticks? I thought about it, and the Atari Flashback console reminds me a lot of those NES Power Joys that they sell at the Malls, except the Flashback is licensed but the PowerJoy is a pirate clone. If the Flashback IV comes with wireless controllers, then I take it they won't work on a vintage Atari or accept real VCS controllers. What I really want is a reliable Atari system-on-a-chip clone with a real cartridge port. The Flashback II had a real hardware clone in it and even solder pads on the board to potentially attach a real cartridge slot, but the III used a microprocessor with a software emulator, unless I'm mistaken.

I wonder if the causual consumers realise they're not getting a deal with the White Wii-U: You can buy a Wii-U Deluxe with NintendoLand included for $350 + tax, or buy a Wii Basic for $300, then add $60 for NintendoLand. That's $360 + tax for the Basic Bundle, and there's still a crap-ton of extra goodies (like more memory and a free sensor bar) that you still won't be getting. I'm sure there's a ton of consumers who thought they got a good deal saving the fifty bucks on the Basic model. Quick question: does the Deluxe model include NintendoLand as a retail disc, or as digital content? I am a huge supporter of retail games as opposed to digital downloads, because it will allow future generations of gamers to enjoy the games after support for old systems is discontinued. Either way, I've got a Deluxe model tucked away that I can't open till Christmas.

That's all fine and good, but it's possible that not all backers own a Kindle.

More people will walk into the store and potentially buy something if they have an "In Stock" sign up as opposed to "sold out." Whether it's true or not, that's more customers entering the store. By the way, eBay never sells out of anything, save for perhaps CIB Air Raids and Red Sea Crossings.None at Gamestop in Attleborough, MA today... though they are keeping their ** WII U!! IN STOCK NOW!** signs up.

Guys, just wait until January 1st. There will hopefully be pleanty for everyone after the holidays. Even when the Wii was sold out for a year, it was still relatively easy to get one any time in 2007 with a little bit of diligence. Just talk to the manager at the electronics/games department and find out when the next shipment comes in, and be there at the store the day it arrives. I had a Wii-U preordered but my mom bought it for me as a Christmas gift, so I won't be able to open it until December 25th...

I'm not sure if I'll be getting space rocks though, but yes, I've heard about it. There's tons of space-themed games already in the VCS back-catalog.Random Terrain : There is only the demo in the first post.
Stardust4ever : (Psst, you forgot Space Rocks!!)

How is the video quality? Is the TV picture bleed-free? I read the entire Batari video mod thread. It seems the mod is fairly extensive and there's a lot of stuff that can go wrong with the picture. I don't see why the video signal can't just be fed to an RCA jack prior to being processed by the RF modulator, like how the NES toploader mods work. Until they stop selling TVs with VHF tuners built in, I'm not planning on modding mine for AV. Worst case senario, an old busted VCR will make a nice RF demodulator for modern TV.
Again, good luck on your sale. The console is very nice and the price is reasonable considering the stuff you've added to it.

For those of us who preordered, is there any way to track our packages or know when it shipped. The Amazon payments site still lists the ship date as July 27th, which is a lie. hopefully, i have the book in my hands after a few days, and we can put this whole issue to rest.Atari Inc. - Business is Fun, the book that goes behind the company that was synonymous with the popularization of 'video games,' is now finished and for sale!

To everyone that funded through Kickstarter, the books will be sent to first Curt then to myself to sign, and then mailed off. Pre-orders should start being fulfilled by Amazon almost right away as well.

That's really nice. I have an green power LED and a coax jack on mine...

That is considerably more than the 600 points somebody got while beating the real Super Mario Brothers. You don't get a single point for killing the final Bowser in SMB, which is quite sad...Lowest score for Super Mario Clone World 1, levels 1 through 4, achieved: 009200.
100 point timer bonus each level (x 3)
500 points for passing each level (x 3)
400 points for jumping on bowser (x 6)
5000 points for beating Bowser and Super Mario Clone World 1

Either way, I'm stoked that this game is finally coming out. I've got a boat-load of Atari 2600 homebrews I want right now. Upcoming Princess Rescue, Halo 2600, and the new 2011 2012 Christmas minigame collection (A Byte of Chrismas), of which Al had better hurry if he wants them out by Christmas. Otherwise, I'll have to wait another year most likely. I also ordered recent entries Pacman 4k and Chietry as soon as they appeared, which are both awesome. There's also more games already in the store that are on my wishlist... Al's gonna be recieving a massive order from me in the web store when the games come out, LOL!

Yes, this would be an epic game if we can only get it off the runway and into the air...

It's already been done, well, sort of...Next will be the youtube vid of some punks smashing one to bits.

I preordered the deluxe Wii-U at Gamestop the day Nintendo did their press conference. I was number 2 out of 5 Wii-U deluxe preorders at my location, and number 1 was the same employee who rang me up. I heard some Gamestops took more preorders than they recieved in stock; sucks if you're one of those people. Got mine last Sunday with no issues. My mom offered to buy it for me, so techincally I saved $410 + tax (the total cost of a deluxe Wii-U plus Mario Brothers) but of course that also means I have to wait until December 25th to open it.

Oh, and I kinda feel sorry for those "casual" buyers who think their getting a deal saving $50 buying the White model, then turn around and buy NintendoLand for an additional $59 dollars.

Hand carved wood. Amazing. But why did he use an analog thumbstick instead of digital?
-
Yeah, from what I heard, you're just waiting for the boxes to arrive from Germany, right? So can those of us who only ordered cart + manual have our orders paid and shipped ahead of of the CIBs???

2 and 3 of what?
I can't vouch for a number 3, but the first Atari book deals with pre-crash Atari, and a future second book will tell of post-crash Atari, two highly different corporate cultures. So that's 700 pages for the first book, and possibly 700 more for the second.

Also, if your famous, you can write a book about anything, and guarantee a bestseller list. I mean, Monica Lueinsky and Hillary both wrote books about the Bill Clinton Scandal. OJ Simpson wrote a book-long confession and entitled it "If I did it." Personally, I believe a book about the "fall from grace" of Atari is a lot more interesting of a read than a celebrity's spin on their personal "fall from grace". The mass public will disagree with this sentiment, but then again the mass public subscribes to Facepalm/Twatter, and we have Atariage.

312 scanline count isn't necessary.
We have PAL60 TVs.
Don't some vintage PAL CRTs roll with a 60Hz refresh signal?

I was just pointing out some inconsistencies

Come on now, that's just nit-picking...

We are honestly trying to have everything up and ready to sell on Amazon in time for Black friday so it's available for the Christmas shopping season.
This isn't the first time you've promised us something similar to "hopefully it will be ready to ship in one week." In fact, I have not cancelled because I really want this project to succeed, and I really want to be able to read this epic book. But I have placed preorders before at places like Amazon and Gamestop. And a big difference with said preorders is you don't pay upfront until the product ships. Once I pre-ordered a book on Amazon, and when the due date passed by more than a month, I got an email asking if I still wanted to hold onto my reserve, and I said "yes". Andother month passed and I was asked the same question. Eventually, I got a notification that my preorder was cancelled, with an explaination, "we don't know when or if this product will arrive," and I noticed it had been removed from the website. Then there are games like Paper Mario Sticker Star and Luigi's Mansion 2 for 3DS that Nintendo pushed back a whole year. Again with Gamestop, they don't require upfront payment over $5 for games or $50 for consoles, and you can get a rull refund of the deposite by cancelling anytime. I simply feel that it's unfair to charge the customer money before the product is ready. Then there's no worries if it never comes out. When I placed my preorder on the 24th of July, I paid in due faith that the product would ship on July 27th, and I would have the book in hand in early August. It is now mid-November, just saying. Now you are saying it should be ready to ship in by Black Friday (one week away); I am just saying it may not be such a wise thing to tell your customers unless you are absolutely certain the book will be ready to ship before December.

Preorders should get the book first. Amazon = FAIL!
