  1. If it wasn't for plastic, I'd be stuck with a ton of 'not as described' items, with zero recourse for getting my money back. If it wasn't for credit, I wouldn't have gotten into collecting... WAY too many people who purposefully misgrade items in the hopes of making a sale with no recourse for lying about description. The one time I did a guy a favor and paid with a check, and a few of the items came with issues... and of course, since I basically paid with cash, he was unwilling to make good on the issues.

Credit is the only way to keep strangers in check when buying online.

    credit

    credit

Thanks, I do what I can. O, that reminds me of something I read not too long ago about shady merchant selling ill describe merchandise.

If a company is shady and incurs too many customer backlashes with credit card complaints, also known as chargebacks then that said merchant will lose their merchant credit account.

Here is the flip side, which got me from the article - if memory serves me right. Customers have to be careful of the amount of customer disputes they make about businesses. It was said that making too many credit card chargebacks might not be healthy for your credit history.

Credit card fraud is costing banks/lenders in the billions each year. So they want to fight back, so remember this before you pick up the phone and ask for a chargeback. Or take heart when you are online and you click that button to dispute the purchase. Credit card companies are understandably skittish about sicko charge off happy customers. Next time you apply for a credit card account, don't be alarmed if you need to make a full financial disclosure in the way as if you were asking for a home loan. weird?! but possibly true. More so, there were stories about random ppl who were asked to submit a FBI check before being granted a new credit card account. Happened both with many merchants and customers.

Call me wrong or inaccurate, but I wouldn’t want to test the validity of the article.

I don't really like anyone in my business like that... So I always use Cash CAsh CASh.... lol

  2. Buying a house without credit is absolutely possible. Credit is overrated. It is a more respected and direct process. Normally agents will accept an offer that is 95% of the listing price and a hefty deposit. Depending on your wit, buying with cash can offer some esteemed perks like paid title insurance, escrow fee, liensThe biggest bonus of all is selecting your own closing date! The key is to consolidate all your funds into one bank account. Closing the deal is also faster with cash. A little off topic, but an advantageous response that is warranted to the previous post.

  3. i trolled the links in this thread, thus far i looked at the Pro's Kit 30 in 1 Video Game Screwdriver Set (SD-9313) which doesn't have the longer line head that i need for the VB. i even looked at the cpos on ebay, but no joy.

VB is an acquired taste, and even thou I love my Atari gear I still manage to find time to tear down and fix a few VB’s for myself and friends. Having the right set of tools around is not a must, but rather a necessity.

Arcade machines are my next step as well. I find them fascinating and mysterious. Going back to school to learn them isn’t that challenging since most of them use early digital and common place analog components and circuitry. Try looking up some online schools, there is a shit-ton to select from and price are fairly reasonable.

My buddy is expecting to have my current set of line heads in his hand shortly, so im running out of time on the perfect video game security set to buy.

  4. i've heard of women calling men a tool, but this is the first that i heard of a woman throwing tools out in the garbage. what a bummer...

not sure happ's are long enough for the VB, the photo that i pulled up from a quick research reveals that they are the same cheap ones sold on mcm and later resold for a mark up on ebay. well, i'm specifically chatting about the 4.6 mm line head and 3.5 mm linehead.

those are the necessary insert bits that the kit must have for my dream tool set to be just right. ;)

  5. i managed to find a nice set of gamebits, but heres the thing. i'm after a set now. now that i have seen that there is a nice individual line head screwdriver out there, i am thinking about going for the gusto and getting a complete set with the whole sha-bang in it. i'm needing a reputable set that has triwing and extra long line head set with 3.6 mm and 4.6 mm. it needs to work on my virtual boy.

it will be a good deal for me, since i have the 4.6 mm / 3.6 mm already, but i'll be giving those to a buddy of mine who only uses those solely. well actually letting him have them for the same cost i paid for them. i only used them once.

any ways after i turn them over to him, i'll need a good source for a complete set with tri-wings and everything.

i've got two on my radar so far, but need to weigh the options with what you guys have already tried.

  6. good information to know chris.... i might have to do that trick of yours if this screwdriver i ordered don't work out. i'll buy some plumbing solder from home depot today....

i finally got my VBoy screwdriver in the mail.

sometimes i panic when i read a bad review or advice from more experience ppl which freaks me out and makes me a hypochondriac :skull:

the first thing i did was flip over the Virtual Boy and then i found the 12 screws - wasn't really concerned with the shallow ones - i was looking to see if it would fit in the deepest Virtual Boy screw holes.

pulling off the visor was tricky, but a success.

placed the VBoy screwdriver into the magnetic handle. i didn't use the t-handle side, i used the straight side to see if the bit would reach into the holes and catch the screws.

It did it! without touching the sides and without force.

now its time to get down to business.

so far i removed the stand, bottom half, eye pieces, and speakers.

the real fun begins - toubleshooting

  7. same here, nonner242.. i'm trying to fix my Vboy and made a mistake and ordered at newelectronx. the great thing about forums is that they never die. the valuable information keeps helping new souls like myself. i stumbled upon this link after i made my buy. the only thing is that their website says it will fit the Vboy, but i'm not sure now. can anyone comment as to if this is old news or current news? i have no way to tell yet because the bit is on its way.
