  1. Kind of depressing. The good news is that at least there are museums and several communities dedicated to these old systems. Sometimes I wonder if in 40 years most of these communities will be gone and future generations will be left with just the museums and Wikipedia articles. Chrono-LAN-partying?

  3. Having the jungle environment and all the animals makes it a bit more appealing than just the plain problem solving of similar games so far. Is this a first? Can't really recall all the other math games, but I believe all they had were numbers. And two simultaneous players solving math problems may also be a first. HAHAHA

  5. lol, well, I guess that if it wasn't like that, then every player would eventually break-even and get their money back if they played long enough. And that's not what the casinos want. I really liked the way they implemented the "roulette". It works graphically, and the sound effects make it somewhat realistic. It's a cool game, but I agree - when there's no money at stake, it's just not that interesting.

  7. lol, that should be the dictionary's definition of the sport! I know! That happens a lot to me as well! Maybe it's because we've played one hundred games that are basically variations of the same 10 concepts with different graphics and controllers. On the game... it's very nice! I didn't totally suck at it, which is a plus in sports games! The "physics" work quite well and the sound effects, although a bit exaggerated, also add a lot to the experience!

  9. I cursed upon reading that. O.O I only ran the game briefly just to take a peek at it, and took some screenshots to submit to MobyGames. Being a 2-player game I didn't bother trying to play it. The character animations look nice, though.

  11. lol at both quotes! Now this is my kind of game! I'm not only a strategy games' enthusiast, I also have a crush for all things naval. Maybe it's because my father was in the navy and I had the chance since I was very young to visit warships, submarines, and such. I live by the river now, and I watch ships come and go on a daily basis. I take a ton of pictures of them and I've been planning to start a blog of sorts for some time now. But I digress. I really like the game, and I'm just sad there's not a single-player mode so that I can enjoy its awesomeness fully.

  13. LOL Not much into hockey, so I didn't try this one for too long. Still, it was enough to confirm that it's a very slow game, and the goalies are unbeatable.

  15. This is why I enjoy reading your reviews so much. Even when I'm not expecting much about a game, there's always something worth learning. In this case, it was the whole The Electric Company business. Maybe I'm just too young, or it simply didn't make its way here to Portugal, but I didn't know anything about this show. I did some reading and watched some videos. "Heeey yoooou guyyyyys!" was so funny! lol Not much to say about the games, though, as you say it best:

  17. I gave this game a try because with your explanation of the different clubs, I finally had some clue of what they're for. Still, it was a frustrating experience. In MESS I could only aim in 8 different directions, even using an analog controller on the joypad. Really difficult to play proper golf under such limitations. Hey, that was interesting! Indeed, the meaning of "under par" is reversed in golf. But you're assuming both expressions have the same origin, and I don't think that's the case. It just happens that the same expression has opposite meanings depending on the context!

  19. Hey, nice concept! I liked this one a lot! And I beat it on FAST difficulty! (I actually thought pressing 1 would start the game in the easiest difficulty - I was wrong.) LOL

  23. Very nice! Love the perspective in this game! I wish there was a single-player mode. :-( There's a YouTube video of a guy playing alone, I believe. Only one character moves at a time, so I'm assuming he's handling both controllers. You know, I always thought the referees said "net". You know, because the ball hit... the net. Silly me.

  25. Talk about wrong expectations! I would have never guessed this was a strategy game! I was pretty sure this would just be a typical arcade racing game... with horses. I'm so glad it's not! Very interesting concept, though it feels to me that it's pretty hard to guess the winner in just 10 races. Reminds me of mastermind and of how much I suck at it. hahaha
