  1. I bought one of these direct and also picked up a spare at PRGE and I can say this is one awesome product!
  2. Back when I was a kid, basically everybody had a VCS so that was the norm and owning anything else did you no social favors. There were a few kids that had an Intellivision and the odd kid here and there that had an O2 (usually not their choice). The early O2 catalog was pretty lackluster so people in general weren't very excited about it. The O2's stock would go up considerably though when K.C. Munchkin came along and kicked Atari Pacman's tiny little flickering dick into the dirt. KC Munchkin along with UFO and PickAxe Pete formed the the Holy Trinity for that system. Obviously Atari knew this too so they sued it out of existence. I thought this was BS at the time as KC was not a direct clone of Pacman. Another high point would be the release of the board games adding some depth to it's games that was previously missing. The biggest problem the O2 had was not the graphics or sound but the lack of arcade ports because that is what most of us all wanted back then and the O2 could never deliver much in that regard.
  3. Please sign me up for one, thank you!
  4. So anybody know if these are still available? I pm'd Bryan over a week ago to purchase and haven't heard anything back. Is this the best way to get ahold of him? Thanks
  5. I am A-Ok with a high-quality 3D printed shell. No problem at all for me. Thank you for bringing this project to life. Not sure what is stopping anybody from designing and manufacturing their own injection-molded cases for these, if it is truly THAT important to them.
  6. Wow, what a classy way to phrase your opinion...
  7. Ok, so maybe I've found the answer to my own question... https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3crT89BHvGiUzMtR3FDendmQVE/view
  8. Anybody know offhand what games are different between the standard gold and the Activision version?
  9. There is an RGB mod schematic available here... http://www.nightfallcrew.com/02/03/2013/mattel-intellivision-pal-rgb-video-mod/ If somebody could design a PCB off this schematic and upload it to OSH Park then it would be available to everybody to build. If it works of course...
  10. So does anybody know what is up with the availability of this mod? Has the pcb design been uploaded to OSH?
  11. perhaps a Kyroflux would be useful... http://atariage.com/forums/topic/158641-kryoflux-usb-controller-to-read-all-your-old-disks/ I am definitely in need of a set of system disks for my ATR-8000 ...
  12. Pretty glad I picked one of these up 10 years ago.
  13. Looking forward to this and I love the new name and logo. I am also wondering about making SGM games that are out of stock available again to new SGM owners.
  14. Thanks! The real amazing thing is what is under the hood! A serious A8 machine lurking under there. The 400/800 style is the first prototype I had made to test the design. The issue right now is there are more keys on the keyboard than the system supports so there are a fair number of blank keys. I have made suggestions on our dev forum about some shortcuts I would like to see added to "fill-in" these blank keys. I imagine it will get done at some point but I don't want to pay to make any more keyboards until then so I just have the XL & XE in design format at the present time. Thank you. The case can be found here... https://smile.amazon.com/iStarUSA-S-21-Compact-Mini-ITX-Enclosure/dp/B0077CRF6Q/ref=sr_1_96?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1504893306&sr=1-96&keywords=mini+itx+case Thanks Michael, that's very nice of you to say. I do have a 1088XEL plan as well...
  15. I guess the first question would be if the cartridge even sold that many units or if there would be another run including the box.
  16. yes, the WASD idea has worked out. Waiting on the ANSI keyboard code I gave Foft to be implemented as well as some extra shortcut keys to fill in the blanks. In case you missed it, here is the 400/800 version of my keyboard with my EclaireXL. I also have XE and XL style designs.
  17. Terrible news indeed, my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.
  18. I kind of want to troll this post... hmmm... actually maybe I just kinda did.
  19. *** Panos! Great news!! *** I am one of the testers for the EclaireXL project and own the latest version of the board. I feel it is truly the most amazing and incredible Atari 8-bit product ever been created. This Atari 8-bit beast is truly in a class all it's own. Unlike the (very cool) 1088XEL project which has had a very public development forum, the EclaireXL development progress has not been nearly as public so I am thinking there are probably some people out there that do not realize exactly what this is so perhaps I can offer some info. The EclaireXL is an FPGA-based hardware re-implementation of the original Atari 8-bit computers designed to fit in a Mini-ITX case using a USB keyboard. This system includes several highly desirable built-in features: SIO2SD? Yep, SD card supports is built-in. Supports four virtual disk drives with several levels of selectable disk I/O acceleration and ATR, XFD, & XEX image support. SIO2USB? Yes, it is built-in. Do I need an Ultimate 1Mb cart? Nope, the EclaireXL has up to 1MB built-in and supports these modes: 64K Runs computer with 64Kb of RAM (similar to original 800XL) 128K Runs computer with 128Kb on RAM (similar to original 130XE) 320K(Compy) Runs computer with a 320Kb Compyshop-compatible RAM expansion 320K(Rambo) Runs computer with a 320Kb Rambo-compatible RAM expansion 576K(Compy) Runs computer with a 576Kb Compyshop-compatible RAM expansion 576K(Rambo) Runs computer with 576Kb Rambo-compatible RAM expansion 1MB and you have the option to use any ROM you like... 400/800, XL, 1200, Altirra, etc. selectable from a menu. You can also mount SpartaDOS as a cartridge but more on that in a bit. Do I need something like a Rapidus if I want acceleration? Nope, it has built-in acceleration up to 32x. Playing Star Raiders at 4x acceleration is a near-religious experience. Do I need an Ultimate cartridge to load .crt images? Nope, you can load and run .crt cartridges from the menu. You also get a real Atari SIO port, cartridge slot, four Atari 8-bit joystick ports (with tablet/paddle support), crisp HDMI/VGA output as well as composite & s-video, built-in Freezer, scanline support, and a fully-functioning PBI bus. Did I mention 2x and 4x antic color clock mode? I'm not sure if I was supposed to mention that... but... I am still blown away by this machine every day and consider myself extremely lucky to be part of the team. I hope that this project will become widely available one day for everybody to enjoy. Another thing I would like to mention is that this is a self-contained, instant-boot system with menus that are well integrated using Atari display modes which in my opinion make for a very fluid, natural and immersive Atari 8-bit experience. Thank you Mark and Panos!
