How do you feel about sandwiches cut into four small triangles? I am for it! Let's form a club.

  4. Merry Christmas to all my friends here at AtariAge. I hope tomorrow you have the day you want with whoever you choose to share it with, and so much more.

  5. Star Warsing it up today. I find it funny how Baby Beef ONLY likes the original Star War Trilogy.

  6. From the PS5 setup manual -- “Use a coin or similarly shaped object to tighten the screw.”   Yeah, my go-to tool for that would have been a screwdriver, but I guess I’m old fashioned.

Oh you need something screwed or unscrewed? Hold on, my wife will grab her favorite bent-tip butter knife from the drawer...

  7. Imagine a game with limited inventory space, a time limit, unskippable cutscenes and respawning, flying enemies that can go through walls. Does anyone know such a gem?

And maybe tank controls and 10 feet of draw distance, why not?

  10. Just had a tour through what can only be described as Korea’s biggest congregation of interesting hardware. It’s basically a series of huge buildings that house hundreds if not thousands of little shops that sell everything from printer ink to Sega Saturns to replacement Mac LCDs to lightbulbs. I had a walk down one corridor that was completely filled with video games of all ages. There were PILES of Super Famicoms, Sega Mega Drives, Gameboys of all variants (including one complete in box Tezuka Osamu Gameboy Light; never thought I’d see one in person!) and old CRTs. Even saw a Hitachi Sega Saturn, the weird GPS/onboard entertainment system thing, an Apple IIGS, and an SE Superdrive!

I obviously don’t have anywhere to put any of this stuff (I’m saving the little space I have left for a Wii U) nor could I afford too many of them, and a lot of the sellers weren’t even there because COVID is still a thing here, so I didn’t even bother asking for prices on this visit. However, it is still an AWESOME place, and I most definitely never knew this country had this much retro tech left nor demand for it left around. I’m starting to like it here more and more :)

If there is a Vistar (Korean PC Engine clone) in there....well, Bluejay do you want to make some money? :)

Saw them in the early 2000s I think....pretty cool. Though the Jersey guy singing along to every song got annoying....

  12. All 5 Phantasm movies are on Tubi now, so if y'all wanna have a Phantasm movie marathon this weekend, go for it. GF and I watched the original last night (it's remastered -- beautiful video/audio). GF had never seen any of the Phantasm films. We're watching Phantasm II tonight.

Most amazing may be how agile he was as a younger man. Like, WTF. How is this guy doing a dropkick?

  16. What Atari VCS/2600 game do you never get sick of playing?  I could play Dig Dug daily for the rest of my life and never tire of it.

  17. Ah, today marks the end of the 500 year celebration of the Stockholm Bloodbath.

  19. Nintendo 64 games seem to have filtered themselves into 3 categories, expensive, terrible, and wrestling games.  And expensive doesn't mean good either.

Didn't seem like any of your categorizations were meant to be nice! XD

Some of the best wrestling games ever made (WCW/NWO Revenge, Wrestlemania 2k) were on the N64, and they're usually about $5. Don't sleep on them...they have a deeper engine than most fighting games and excellent mechanics. Great fun, even for non-wrestling fans.

  21. CA governor shuts down state and in mentioning which businesses, he says arcades are also closed. Arcades? They have a lot of arcades in CA?

Ah, Doctor, good point. He's going with an even more "old school" definition. The actual one.

  22. When did 'unpack' become a word that almost everyone says now? How did it get packed and why do I need to unpack it?

    1. GoldenWheels

      GoldenWheels

There has been "unpacking of the invisible knapsack" as a concept since 1988. I can't say much positive or non-political about the concept, but, I bet that's where "unpacking" got started, as that is where a lot of nonsense gets started: by professors on college campuses.

We've been good about no (or very little)people food, OTOH in the future I might have fed her grapes out of ignorance, so still good I found out. But this case was freakin' WILD grapes dropping into her enclosure. I didn't even know I had wild grapes!!!

What are the most common problems you've had with your systems? I just bought one and I'd like to know what I'm getting in to. Also any game recommendations if my actually winds up working.

    Thanks! ?

Vaping generally is kind of awesome compared to smoking. Still not great but just saying. (I don't vape nicotine...)
