  1. Jeez beyond the always scratched up chrome strip, I've got four (?) 7800s (and have sold 2) and none have broken the shell, ever. Reading this thread I guess I got really lucky, you guys make them sound like 5200s. Which crack just getting looked at. I think my 5200 may have just cracked at home from me talking bad about it.
  2. Sweet baby jesus...the screws!!!! The absolute worst, I will agree there. Nothing like needing a tool every time you want to change a source.
  3. I don't mind RF at all for earlier systems. Assuming it isn't loaded with static (looking at you, most to all of my Colecovisions). I noticed when I started playing 7800 Joust on my composite modded system...the lovely ghost trails behind the ostriches disappeared. While it wasn't enough for me to go back to RF (few games seem to benefit in this way) I for sure prefer the original look that I grew up with. The more basic the game, the more I think RF is just fine. I sure do miss those "trails"....
  4. My mother in law is a professional weaver, she said they inherited one of these rigs from another studio in the 80s but it was given to them as "non working" and they never did get it working. Considering the low level of computer knowledge back then, it could have been a very simple problem. Sadly the loom and interface box is long gone...man it'd be cool to get one up and running again.
  5. I know I shouldn't be a hater but legit....I admit am kind of a 2600 hater. I was "stuck" with the 2600 for two years when all my buddies had NES's....dudes this was a ROUGH two years of judgy "ewws" and "oh...you still play Atari 2600". So I have a little bit of a resentment issue still I guess. Maybe I'll give Gorf Arcade a try....I do love me some Colecovision Gorf.
  6. Personally...I'll play the occasional round of Frostbite or River Raid (on my 7800, natch) but I have no interest in the 2600 generally, or the homebrew scene for it. I don't think I have ever clicked foot in the 2600 forum.
  7. Goddamn that is exactly what the system should have been. I've cut a few true 5200s into "choppers" but none end up looking this good. GLWTS.
  8. I'm wondering if this is why the Last Chance sale had to happen? Just so everything was legit and on the up and up for the purchase? (It doesn't really matter but I had originally guessed Popeye has generated a less than friendly door knock from Big N, which maybe became like a domino situation).
  9. I gotta admit....I really do not love it BUT I think it could be made a much better game (as was the original) on the 7800.
  10. Checks original post date...don't believe I have ranted in THIS particular N64 thread before so.....allow me to play the broken record: The AKI Wrestling games! Revenge, WWF2000, WWF No Mercy. AMAZING games. Being a wrestling mark is not necessary to enjoy; but it does help. (Oh AND Virtual Pro 2 from Japan, playable with either a cart back swap or an everdrive....sweet jesus. Talk about amazing.)
  11. Joust. Just take Joust 2, and you know...make it good. (hey, the 7800 version of the original is 10x better than the arcade...so why not?)
  12. An Article from Sarah's blog: http://macomberloomsandme.blogspot.com/2012/ Pretty cool find! And it got a nice price....
  13. I think it'd be better AND easier....in filling the holes you only have ONE piece (the final strip) to line up and apply to be done. In applying cardstock (not having seen it I am curious what this stick'em cardstock is...) you have to line that up, hope THAT adhesive sticks forever, then line the vinyl up PERFECTLY on top of that (I think that will be a double pain on the small bends on either side). Vinyl is pretty forgiving at giving you a few shots to line things up but eventually you peel it off and on try #3 or #5 it starts to curl....and I at least know ME....if that fucker ain't lined up perfect, my OCD says, you try again! And again, I don't know how thick the stock is, but I'd want the stripe below or at worst flush with the console...does using the cardstock put the sticker ABOVE the rest of the case? Or level WITH the case? Maybe I'm biased....already have tons of plastic filler and super fine sandpaper. XD
  14. The molding holes would be fairly easy to to fill with an epoxy/plastic filler, then to sand down with super fine grit. Might be easier than the cardstock.
  15. My issue, strictly speaking for the 7800, is that it seems like only NOW is the originals scene REALLY picking up for the 7800. I am not trying to look down on other original efforts for the 7800 BUT whether it is Rikki and Vikki, Knight Guy, any of the "Dragons" series, I think anyone following the system for years would admit that the many of the older efforts were NOT to this level, and that the game has been upped in the last 2-3 years. The reason this is worrisome to me is...JMO BUT....I feel like it was the famous arcade ports that got the 7800 here (many by one talented dude), where there WAS actually a "scene".....and the ground beneath that new scene is not that solid yet. Without the converted, big name games....will more people who are sick of NES and Sega decided to collect 7800s now? It's a big hit no matter how it gets sliced.
  16. For those of us without access to the gear....is there somebody ethical we can agree on to make some for the community? In those cases I always feel they should at least make a few bucks for their troubles?
  17. I am a saddened that even some, let's say, look a likes (Beef Drop, Froggie) were affected by this. If that is any indicator, even renamed conversions will be an issue going forward, which really sucks and is super limiting for growing the library.
  18. My 2 cents...if you don't have a Baby Pac-Man yet, I'd prioritize it in your order. Seems unlikely to ever appear in a version like this again. Bob did a lot of unique work there. Popeye also strikes me as one to jump on...I was surprised it even got put in the store in the first place. Both are great games. And just so far as great games...Beef Drop.
  19. Before I email and possibly waste this dude's time....how much? Oh and as always, god bless the Polish people and their incredibly enduring love for Atari.
  20. Same here my friend. #2 is the superior game set (or, at least harder to get cheaply) IMO but man...still wish I had #1.
  21. Speaking of collector's who got in late...I got the Bob D multi but man, I'd love another run of the Anniversary Cart #1.....
  22. Goddamn...count me as someone who, in years playing the 2600 version, and now an hour playing the 7800 version, has legit gotten the elevator to work for me...oh...once? Ever, MAYBE? As a kid I think I thought the elevator was actually a red herring trap. Krook just went the other way and I NEVER felt I actually gained any ground. And damn those f'ing planes are as annoying as ever. XD
  23. Legit could have bought each game from the store for less (and they'd all work...pretty sure at least one of the games on this cart is broken). As a 7800 collector though...I totally get it. Any unique Bob D stuff I have ain't getting sold.
