If it matters, and since some crazy ideas are being thrown around, the Gr. 1 and 2 examples in post 2 look like they're using the PAL palette. On NTSC machines, the fourth "HELLO" would be red by default.

I agree about Snokie. It's simple and maybe even a little boring, but it might be fun if we were trying to get higher scores.

HSC Season 3 Week 42: Rollergames

30. That's it for me. -
Could we not include Tube Baddies in the Atari UK theme? http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-tube-baddies_21263.html (whoops. meant to post this in Poll A.... sorry)

Funny. I've heard about those, but that's the first time I've seen a pic of one.

HSC Season 3 Week 42: Rollergames
Fres replied to VectorGamer's topic in Arcade/MAME High Score Club
Looks like 28 is all I can manage right now. I've been doing some work on my cabinet, so I've missed the last couple of games. I didn't snap a pic because the score did not stay on the screen very long. -
24350. Still bummed that I missed out on DF2 in the last round. My fault. What's the deal with the # (pound) and * (asterisk) on the title screen. I know this came out for 5200 first (or at least I think that) but wouldn't they want to change those to START and SELECT, etc. Seems like a rush job. I'm playing the actual cart.

It's a PAL only PRO. A cracked PAL only PRO. Since it comes from the UK, it is originally a PAL program, so I guess NTSC is problematic. I tested it with a PAL Antic, but my monitor has no vertical scroll adjustment. For me, it works in NTSC (emulated), but you have to press start shortly after the image begins to load (before the rainbow, Happy Hackers screen). That screen appears to be problematic on NTSC systems, but holding start will get you past it. One the screen shows up, however, you will no longer be able to press start to bypass it. Beyond that, I played thru level 1, and then it jumped to level 4. Also, levels 2 and 3 appear to be the same as level 1, unless the differences are subtle and I didn't notice them. It appears to need SIO emulation turned off (at least for me). I haven't had a chance to try it on real hardware yet.

I didn't think the music was THAT bad. Are you sure you're not using one of the versions that has broken sound on XL/XE machines?

I missed this thread until now. I'm surprised Orpheus doesn't have a copy of this. Hopefully this will get properly dumped at some point. It looks interesting.

I've been looking for an excuse to play more Tube Baddies so I voted for it, but Moon Patrol will be ok too.

Excellent animation. Great work. Looks like it's only for PAL, though, so more of an emulator demo for me. Impressive either way.

Outstanding!

Thanks Fres, looks like you managed a few screens I based the font on one I liked in one of synthpopaloozas'(?) games but 'chunkified' (yes that is a word ) it using Envision. I'm enjoying watching the last series of the Cleveland show not as funny but still amusing enough There's tips for GSB in the docs on the Gwobby Web Site and on the post here on AtariAge. With over 100 downloads of this version I'm hoping a couple more players might join the HSC Looks like I need to have another bash at level 5 of TDF2 later I still need to play TDF2, and I still need to read the instructions. I always liked Cleveland better on The Family Guy than on The Cleveland Show.

Does anyone still type in game programs from magazines?
Fres replied to Ross PK's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Atarimania is your best best for type-ins, but there are still MANY missing titles. You could do a search for BASIC progs, but the list would likely be fairly overwhelming. I like to categorize things by publisher (Analog, Antic, Compute!, Dell [Paul Bunn book]). Some day I will have them all collected in sets, I hope. -
Ok, I'd say it's about time I did some posting. For some reason, I've had too little time to play lately. 7113 for CTetris and 21600 for GSB (fun game, Bob -- nice work ... cool font too. that yours?).

I did type most of those in myself back in the day, but I'm not going to do it again. Plus, I gave that book to Slor. -

Coputerfacts available in PDF from SAMS Website
Fres replied to spookt's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Funny. I think that SAMS office is like 10 miles from Orph's house. I agree with Rybags, though. $20 is a bit steep. By the way, hard copies have printing fees as well as shipping, making them at least $32 a piece (plus sales tax for me and Orph). It's like they're not even trying. -

Cool. I'm into the new stuff. Dreadnaught Factor II, I missed somehow, and what's this Gwobby game? Never heard of it.

HSC8 Round 7: Joust (+Super Bunny & Space Eggs)
Fres replied to therealbountybob's topic in 8-bit High Score Club
400 on Super Bunny, 765 on Space Eggs. The Super Bunny I have is in gr.8, with color thru artifacting. That the only one? Maybe Sirius was a US shop ... I took a shot at Joust (expert) too, but can't remember my score (I know it was lower than the two that have already been posted). I'll give it another go before the deadline since I need to do everything I can to catch up with Orph and a8isa1. -
