  1. I, for one, am very impressed. Nice work (as usual).
  2. I believe the guy who maintains this link: http://www.aracnet.com/~atari/ sells loose manuals. You may need to email him with your requests.
  3. There are certainly many of them, but a few that come to mind are: Gauntlet/Gauntletak Yoomp! ROTO
  4. I don't think you want the "ape face" thing you saw on ebay. Frogstar was suggesting an ape compatible (sio2pc) interface, which is not the same thing as an ape face. I'm not sure, but that's my observation.
  5. Works fine on my XEGS. Looks like a promising project. Is that Contra? Great playability so far!
  6. I received my repro joystick today. Works great. I have found that I've quite easily broken the little plastic tabs off of the stick while trying to assemble it for the first time. Apparently I was putting too much force on it while turning. Careful with this, if you haven't already done it, because I thought I was being gentle. Even without the tabs, though, the friction is quite enough for most gaming (in my opinion). I didn't know (before orpheuswaking's start of this thread [incl. pics]) that the stick itself was detachable. It's a plus for laptop bags, though, as the stick stores easily in the front pocket.
  7. Nice work, Steve. This makes it so much easier to build carts with the AtariMax menu. Thanks for the work!
  8. Shortly after they ebay auction ended, I was contacted by someone who appeared to be the author/programmer. I have no reason to think it was not really him. He asked if I had any of his other work for Atari/C64/Vic20. He indicated that he'd lost most of it over the years. His name is Robin Sherer and his contributions to Antic are here: http://www.atarimagazines.com/index/index....r&mag=antic ... Does anyone else know anything about the guy. It'd be nice to be able to help him find his stuff.
  9. I like the 130XE too. Regarding the ram chips (which often fail) where can you get replacements? I'm in the US.
  10. Very, very cool. Looks great. If I were you, however, I'd offer $100,000 USD to Metalguy to change the blue Atari name badge to red.
  11. I like your suggestions, José. I'm not a coder -- at least not the kind you require, but I think it's fun to imagine what might have been, or what could be. Obviously, however, things are not always as easy as they seem. Keep dreaming, tho. Again, I like it! It still amazes me how there are those who would seek to alienate the few of us who remain loyal to this hobby. To those, I say, "Lighten up, Francis." ... -Fres
  12. Yeah, I had a crashed HDD recovered in a cleanroom at a cost of nearly $700. ouch!
  13. Again, nice work. Tried the new one. I like the auto repeat for left right. I only played one quick game, but I'll check it out some more tomorrow.
  14. Nice playability. I can see myself spending a lot of time playing this one. I do have a little getting used to with the left-right movement. Thanks for all your work!
  15. Someone might need these. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=230354208048
  16. The XEGS Missile Command in my XEGS does support the ctrl-t, trackball option. Also, here's a 1984 Millipede. Millipede.zip
  17. There are a few of them on ebay right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=230354204628
  18. Nice find. It was fun trying to re-create it on my 8-bit. Interestingly, it took me about 3 or 4 times to get the score to fall within 33000-33900. Best DK port I've ever seen.
  19. A cleaned up collection of xex files would be really nice. I've been trying for the last couple of years to clean up the ones I have, pulling several copies from all the usual sources, eliminating the packed ones and butchered ones, working through them by publisher. I've mainly been doing it to get the cleanest, most complete copy of as many xex (and basic, where applicable) files as possible on the my-ide cart, so I've also been giving priority to the ones that will load from the cart. Also, I don't have a PAL machine, so I'm not able to test the titles that don't work with NTSC. I've made it through a few hundred of them so far (synapse, activision, atari, imagic, broderbund, sierra, cosmi, datasoft, datamost, adventure international, parker bros, sega, apx, english, epyx, electronic arts, and a few more, but it's getting kind of boring. Anyway, it'd be nice to have a good working set all in one place. A project like this would probably take several people to accomplish. I don't know how many of us are left/willing, but I'll pitch in if I can. By the way, I love what Atarimania is doing -- focusing on original (uncracked) copies -- which is also very nice, but they have a different goal. Side note, almost NONE of the recent XEX releases and cartridge conversions will load from the cart (except for Yoomp! -- it works great).
  20. Hmmm. I'll have to check again. Did it require the keyboard on the "KEGM" to get it into trackball mode (I'm not talking about using the trackball as a joystick.
  21. I'm pretty sure the version of Missile Command in my XEGS does NOT have the trackball option (control-t or something like that). Maybe that was a hack?
  22. Cool. I'd be curious to hear what you think about them...
