  1. Hmmm. That would be quite a challenge.
  2. Have to agree, I think the gameboy color version of tetris is the best I have every played. It's probably the only reason I still have a GBC. This version is very playable as well, however.
  3. I'm not in any rush, but are we supposed to be sending receipts to Legacy Engineering? I seem to remember someone saying something about some orders being lost, or something. I ordered a joystick on Jan. 12. Thanks for any info...
  4. Very nicely done. Very colorful and playable.
  5. http://www.vintagecomputermanuals.com/Vint...ce%20Manual.pdf Not too bad. This is something is just happened to stumble upon a while back. For some reason it's protected so you'll have to do a little work to print it out, if that's what you want.
  6. What was the side scrolling platformer (about the third or fourth preview)? Looks really good in that montage.
  7. I was talking about www.8bitclassics.com. I have nothing but good things to say about AtariMax.
  8. I tried to buy a few 8-bit cartridges from them a couple of weeks ago. I used the store/cart method on their website. However, shortly after I placed the order I got an email that indicated that none of the items I ordered were in stock (except one). I'm glad they sent me the email, because I was able to quickly cancel the entire order. Would have been a huge waste of money. To me, it's best to contact them in advance and not rely on the website.

They seem like they've never heard of the internet. That can be good, though. They don't focus on Atari 8-bits by any means. There are lots of retro stores like this. Kinda funny, really.
  10. I like www.atarimania.com, www.atarimax.com, www.arcadecontrols.com and www.theonion.com. Oh, and google. Other than that, I say, nutz to the internet.
  11. Nice map. Is this game any fun? Maybe I should give it a try...
  12. Sounds cool. Does Darkforce support atascii, or 40 column ascii, or do I need to connect with a PC?
  13. I don't remember that particular one, but I do remember browsing thru the (limited) amount of Atari titles at Kay Bee in the mid 80s. I picked up a white box tape game called "Scorpion" for about $2. It turned out to be pretty boring, if I remember correctly. It was programmed in basic. I wondered who was publishing this stuff back then. I couldn't find any evidence that Silver Spirit or Scorpion ever existed.
  14. Check that. The one from vjetnam didn't have any white noise when emulated. On real hardware, however, the static was back. Must be the same as other versions floating around.
  15. For me, the one from vjetnam did not have the white noise during the boulder stage -- it had no sounds at all. Strange. It'd be nice to have a good dump of this that would run from the HDD. It's nothing I know how to do, however.
  16. Yeah, I keep meaning to do that. I noticed that Jungle Hunt was featured in the HSC some time ago, but no one mentioned the sound issues.
  17. Good luck converting the 2600 ones, though.
  18. Don't want to change topics here, but have you noticed that when you load Yoomp! without the keyboard attached, it doesn't seem to work? The guys here are more interested in the cartridges I have -- Yoomp! is on a my-ide cart, and works great, but no one really pays any attention to it (except me). Still curious about why there was never a good release of Jungle Hunt (filed).
  19. Hey all. I recently took one of my XEGS's to work and a few of the guys in the office have taken some interest in it. The popular game of the moment is Jungle Hunt (my boss has the current high score). Yeah, I know it sounds crazy to have an Atari at work, but our work is tedious and wait-time intensive so sometimes we need breaks! The version I have on cart (XE style with silver label) shows Atari AND Taito copyrights on the main screen. However, the only filed versions of this proggy I can find have only Taito copyrights. The ROM version on AtariMania, btw appears to be the same as the one I have on cartridge. Even more interesting is that, every cracked version of this rom I have found so far (from the usual places) seems to have a sound problem with the third screen (boulders). Check it out, if you don't believe me. The third screen sounds like white noise -- no sound effects. All others are ok. I'm a little curious about this because, as I know some crackers often modified the in-game text of their exploits, the removal of Atari's copyright seems a little odd, given that the Taito one remains. Was the common crack of this a different version than the cart release? Was there more than one release of this game? Was the fully working version of this rom ever converted to file. Any ideas? I had the game on cart back in the 80s, so I don't think I ever looked closely at the release(s) I obtained over BBSs.
  20. Never really cared for these myself, but Fight Night and Bop n Wrestle might be similar.
  21. Cool. Will look forward to the port. Nice work.
  22. Candle, is there a particular 320k upgrade guide you suggest?
  23. Very impressive. I didn't even know an 80 column version of The Last Word was in the works. Nice job...
  24. I always thought the games that had soundtracks, but no sound effects were pretty annoying. There were lots of these in the late 80s early 90s. I'd have to do some research to find them. However a couple come to mind: Jaffar, Jurassic Park, Misja, etc. The graphics were decent in those games, but the lack of sound effects, the questionable playability, and the fact that the soundtracks had nothing to do with the action made them a little annoying to me.
