  1. The doors are just clipped into hinges on the left and right. You could probably just pry them loose by opening the door about 45 degrees and carefully pulling on each side (straight out, when open 45 deg., iirc). I have two 1702's. Both have doors, but one has a broken clip, so it's a little clumsy when it's open. Looks fine when it's closed, though.
  2. It is surprising. I wouldn't mind playing around with that a bit myself.
  3. That would be cool. I've played Elektra Glide a couple of times. Some pretty impressive stuff but way too difficult to hold my interest. I just thought it was poorly programmed and impossible to finish. I didn't realized it was a PAL/NTSC issue.
  4. There is also an unreleased version for Atari 8-bits. The link on AA has some comments from the author: http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-ixion_2628.html This game was also played in the Atari 8-bit high score club. Never tried the arcade original.
  5. I like the default font on the C64 ... was always envious of the colorful stuff they did in the BBS days too. But I love Atascii (and a8) because that's what I grew up with. Finally, the short answer to this topic: yes (or no)
  6. Yeah, I know. Those classic broken phrases were not in any of Homesoft's releases that I've seen. I was just making a comparison. However, I had not thought about that message of mine in quite a while. I feel like I used an insulting tone way back then, and I apologize for that. I should not judge. I've been known to mangle a syllable or two from time to time, and I was born in the US. I don't know if Mike reads these forums, but ... MIKE: Thanks for your work! I like and respect the Homesoft collection, and I hope it continues to grow in the future. If you want to get credit for all of your hacks, then you should. You get to choose how. Homesoft has released "titled" versions of many "filed" cracks and they look as good as the disk based originals. I have even extracted some of the filed versions from his disk images in order to improve my own collection of .xex files. Also, the 5200 conversions look great and I'm sure they took some work. Anyway... If enough floppy disks were available, and I had enough time, I might convert all of his .atr files to floppy.
  7. Agreed. I would pay 7.50 shipped for clean and functional so (if you have two) let me know.
  8. I've always wanted The Brundles. Such a fun game, but a pain to get loaded and running. I would make a terrible apprentice.
  9. That screen looks so much better. It looks like you improved the centering of the text too ...
  10. I was kidding about Glenn being the one who Atari hired to do the port, but I do enjoy the discussion. Actually, I think the * is option and # is select. I just thought it seemed like a 5200 conversion because of the * and #. It seems a little lazy. You also have to press the number 2 to continue, so the game requires a keyboard (XEGS) for that feature. Don't get me wrong. I like the game. Were there any other Atari 8-bit games (not 5200 conversions) that used * and # for option and select? I can't think of any.
  11. Best I've noticed: http://www.atarimania.com/list_games_atari-400-800-xl-xe-atari-glenn-the-5200-man_publisher_2281_8_G.html http://www.atarimania.com/list_games_atari-400-800-xl-xe-atari-5200-conversion_licence_1_8_G.html Of course not ALL of those were converted by Glenn. Some came later (especially the homesoft ones).
  12. Kevin, I'd say I'm interested in all of those things in 1, 3, 2 order of preference. By the way, I have two copies of your book (Terrible Nerd) but I have not had a chance to read it yet. Look forward to it this winter. John
  13. There's no way to emulate tapes like Conversational French, Spanich, etc. (the ones that have recorded audio), right? I know some of the emulators support .cas files, but those don't include the audio. Is that correct?
  14. I'd be happy to shoot you MY address, in case Rahman forgets his.
  15. Hate to be too cynical, but my guess is no one will ever have time to finish those projects. Albeit ambitious, this is a relatively small community.
  16. Glad to hear you have archived almost every piece of software from that time period.
  17. Oooohhhh. Let us not get too ambitious.
  18. Hehe. Philip Price talking to Chris Crawford. HERE! Pretty cool. Thanks for everything guys.
  19. I'm a lifelong A8 user, and I've never owned any c= machines, but I am impressed by the SID every time I hear it (live).
  20. The SX-212 had the same case as the XEP-80 which used the same power supply as the 2600, if I remember correctly, so Fletch might be right. I briefly had a 1030 for some reason I can't recall, and I did try the built-in terminal software. My first modem was an XM301, however. It required no external power supply and had ring detection. It worked great with 1030 Express!.
  21. Just don't give up. The parts you need are not hard to find, but you might have to wait a bit. You will enjoy getting back into Atari 8-bits. Might try holding down OPTION or SELECT with no carts in to see what happens. Hell, I don't know what I'm talking about.
