Here´s a link to a very cool and informative interview with Matthew Gosling as conducted by Justclaws for his website: http://justclaws.atari.org/jagudome/jagu-dome.html Excerpt from said interview regarding the question you pose: >19)What's this I'm hearing about you guys not getting paid for this game?....Did you guys get paid salaries for working there? All the people involved in the project were paid by Caspian software, we all got our salaries. When I say we didn't get paid, I mean that Caspian software was not paid money owed by Atari for the development. There was a milestone due when Atari received the beta version, and they didn't pay it. All of a sudden, they decided that they didn't like aspects of the game that had been in there since day 1, and unless we completely change everything they won't accept it as a beta version. They kept us hanging on for a month, coming back to us with utterly ridiculous "bugs" (there was a very very small number of genuine bugs, but most of them were just Atari being stupid), and in the end, the company couldn't carry on, and was "put to sleep". I was laid off, and both me & Chris got new jobs. A couple of months ago, however, I got internet access at work, and nearly had a heart attack when I saw people on rec.games.video.atari talking about Zero 5 being published by Telegames. We thought that someone must have just spread some bullshit rumour, but the Telegames website suggested otherwise. We had absolutely NO idea that this had happened, we were not consulted at all, and we are still not getting paid for it (Caspian still exists, it never went into receivership). Atari still maintains that it was not a beta, and sold it to Telegames on the understanding that it was an unfinished product. This doesn't stop Atari from getting a royalty on sales of the "unfinished product", but that royalty is so embarassingly low that if they're that fucking desperate then they're welcome to it as far as I'm concerned. There are legal reasons (that I can't go into) as to why Caspian is not suing the ass off Atari/Telegames. Hopefully you can see why the tone of my usenet post came across as a bit angry, you have to understand that I spent a year working flat out (the latter half of which was working around 12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week) on a game that never came out, and that is now being published and cashed in on without any of the people who created it being consulted in any way. It's Atari that are the scum here, I don't think that Telegames knew the situation, they just bought the rights off Atari. The money doesn't really bother me, it's the principle - but hey who gives a shit, I got my break into the games industry, Atari are welcome to their $1.50 per cart (oops ...) Ouch.....hehe..can't say I blame him at all though..Like I said. though, I blame Atari/Telegames, and not the developers. bvelieve me...I know what pains the dev's go through. I will even take back the Telegames at it is not suprising that Atari told Telegames a line of moopoo.

Yikes dude! I would not even know where that is anymore...that was a million years ago... well at least 8 or so... I have a feeling they have no interest in that petition any longer.
  3. There is no waiting list as there is no release yet. I have to wait to here back from Midway.
  4. Oh Good GRIEF! I certainly hope this works out. Wish you the best of luck. Looks like Wednesday will be the day I at very least find out more.

I was lucky and had a head start from playing gutair. Me too...29 years. 30 years here. Check out hiredgunnz.com. Go to the audio page for the demo we just did (crappy mp3 compression). Cover stuff for now but writing material for a CD. Boy... what a shameless off topic plug

I think there's a slight bit of exaggeration there... Ask the guys who released Iron Soldier Beta or FFL Beta if they could make carts in 10 minutes. It's more like 10 hours a piece! NO, it's not that bad. If you are soldering the proms to the board only, then yes ten minutes. Adding label casing and test and boxed another 5-10(depending on how long you 'test' them.) It's not fun for one guy though when you need to do a run of them. my hands bleed after a while I got calises 1/4 inch thick and I still bleed. I don't even notice when I burn myself anymore Me too....I've built a nice hard layer of dead skin on my finger tips over the years.

Because despite what some say building a Jag cart takes a whole 10 mins tops. So you can have a manufacturer make you a PCB, have a mail order deliver you chips and cart shells, have the labels and the prininting and testing and all that in 10 minutes? That is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY fast then. No I mean to recycle old carts. The new PCB, new shell route does take ALOT longer and is much more expensive. But as far as labels go they print out just as fast as the printer allows. I can get you die cut if you like but you will need to buy at least 500 sheets (about 6 labels on each page), other wise you gotta cut by hand. Ok, so you do indeed understand the difference between a hobby and a real production of carts....scared me there for a minute.

The real problem is you would be stealing from Diabetes charity... I know for a fact, doug after cost puts every dime to his charity. We may not like the pricing, but good work is being done as a result of it.

I would not hold him to such a promise as like I have said, carts are a complete nightmare for a small out let to deal with. Remember, people have to solder chips have boards made, buy eproms and all that. It not like a CD you but in a drive and burn, put in a case and ship off. No maybe If I could talk them into CD-izing BS...that would be delish!!!! I's still pay the $100 dollars for it for the cause.

The game will piss you off no doubt, but you'll want more...strange creatures us vid games fans...
  19. Why troll? Why float all over the net to troll? There is so much more better things one can do to spend his time. Like write Jag games for instance. Mark Morrison of Midway contacted me via e-mail...we will talk today on the phone and discuss Gorf rights!!! Say some prayers!!! I will report the info as I am able on the usual forums.
  20. Well Ms. Blackwell sounded like it was not at all an unreasonable request but, who knows just exactly who she is in the company. I belive she is just an IP clerk, who actually goes and digs up IP info. She said she was handing it off to her attorney and urged me to get it to her before he left for a business trip. So that at least came across positive. Im sure this will delay things a while as I dont expect to here back from them anytime soon. Im sure the Midway attorneys haev a lot more stuff to research than my request to put out a title they probably dont even realize they own.
  21. No one is either forcing you to read them or to come here. If you are so annoyed why bother?

LOL! Dont feel bad dude.. I love 3D shooters and I too suck at it...BUt man do I love it. Worth the cost of admission fur shur.
  23. The other problem is these announements would not need to be made if it were not for people like yourself, Orion, with an axe to grind, for whatever reason.
  24. When you have important and major turns of events occur in a situation, it´s pretty much the the thing to do to start a new thread. That way you know the message gets out. I don´t understand why you have a problem with this. It's got NOTHING to do with Gorf or the amount of post...it has everything to do with me personally. Most who know our past know EXACTLY what I am talking about here. However, I do not wish to casue any trouble over this, as I am sure Albert would appreciate that, so let's ignore this pettiness...after all it was just an announcement to imform and I'd hate to see it turn to crap for no good reason.
  25. Well you see Orion, I try to keep those who might be interested informed and as up to date as possible. I know you like to follow me around the forums to be the con, and that's cool. But man it seems you follow me every where. I 'm being cyber stalked for goodness sake! DOH!
