I'm a rebel.

Imma screw you all up: Star Wars: The Arcade Game on ColecoVIsion (although that has come out for Atari, I've never played it)! The real reason I popped my head in was to tell you all that The Last Starfighter rules! If you haven't get your hands on the Blu Ray - it's two discs: BR/DVD combo, with all the features on each disc. It's like, $8, and well worth it - great transfer, great features. The NES game, The Last Starfighter, however, was awful.

That's what she said! On topic again, I think the described method won't work, as the main issue are worn out metallic traces where the actual switching happens and not in or on the connector.
-
Now this IS interesting: where do you want me to place the plastic, exactly? Also, the switches seems REALLY tight. Any way to combat that?
-
No, I am. I know you're trying to cover your ass (as you probably should, given most people's attitude), and I totally understand/respect that. The only reason I am bringing this up is to tell anyone posting in this thread: I'm a big boy. I know that I run the risk of destroying this thing, and I'm only going to follow advice I am comfortable with. Give me ideas - I promise not to cry or sue if they don't work. Thank you both! I think a buddy has a voltmeter - I'm going to start there.
-
For three bucks, sounds like it's worth it. The alternative is to either send it to someone or get a new one.
-
I sure don't. I guess you want me to check for shorts?
-
BUMP.

I couldn't resist.

This thread? No, it won't make any difference. Treating him like a human being might, though.
-
Thank you YES that is my point, the very nature of the thread is a bad idea and I am sorry it might be more acceptable had it been made by someone who has been here a while and therefore the community knows the person well enough to assume it is good nature in intention (or not) I certainly would not consider such a thread being new to a community. High five for same pagery!

I don't get this reply. Did you read his post? He was actually very complimentary to almost everyone, and to those he wasn't his reply was good natured and made light of the whole thing. It's not like he came in here and went postal. I see both sides of this. Yes, he was respectful and good natured, but, the very concept of the thread may have put some people off.
-
Dude, on the whole of this forum, the majority of the people are really, really cool. On the other end of the spectrum, we seem to have some kind of mutant breed of troll. I guess that is the nature of a successful community. Thank goodness this thread is an example of the former, rather than the latter.

Whether or not you agree with Protoplasym, is this really the way to handle the situation? Way to call someone out. Sure, the guy gets a little hot under the collar sometimes, but, we all have our buttons. "I'm sick of reading your posts that annoy me, so I'm going to bring more attention to this fact by starting a thread." Like it or not, that's how this reads, even though I know that probably isn't your intent.

Possible 5200 n00b here - looking for advice
GodzillaIsMyCopilot replied to GodzillaIsMyCopilot's topic in Atari 5200
^ Best post yet. Definitely keeps me on the 5200 track, but I am sure I will eventually end up with an 8-bit at some point. -
The reset and select switces on my 2600 Jr. appear to not be working. I can open up the Jr. with no issue, and it appears to be clean. The problem is, I have NO idea what I'm supposed to be looking for. Can someone post a pic of the innards of a working Jr., and/or walk me through the possibilities for troubleshooting? I'm at my wits' end, because I can't play any games.

That's kinda genius.

Possible 5200 n00b here - looking for advice
GodzillaIsMyCopilot replied to GodzillaIsMyCopilot's topic in Atari 5200
First: I truly appreciate all the advice I'm getting here, and I'm taking it all in. Keep it coming - it's helping! Second: Check out THIS THREAD (at least the first and third posts - that's all that is releveant to this one). I am not new to gaming or collecting. My first system was an Atari Woody, then a ColecoVision (I think we got our first one in 1982). I have a lot more knowledge than this thread may have led some of you to believe. Then again, sometimes, all we forum people see is the word "n00b", right? Simply put, I have found in the research I have done is that opinions and solutions to the 5200 conundruum vary greatly. This is easily the best community of concentrated, experienced collectors of these particular systems (among others). Looking to pool that information. Example: I had no idea how versatile the Atari computers were, but, I did know that hooking them up to a TV can be a nightmare. As far as the comments on the 2600 go, the reset button on mine isn't too happy - that's what started this whole thing. Rather than plunk doen more $$$ to get another one, I thought it might be prudent to get another Atari system instead. Like I said, keep it coming, and thank you! edited for grammatical fascism. -
Godzilla is my Copilot's Collection
GodzillaIsMyCopilot replied to GodzillaIsMyCopilot's topic in Show Us Your Collection!
No, I haven't had any issues with it at all. Works great, and you can still remove the tabs to make it play Japanese games. -
Just know that, if anything goes haywire - call.
