This is why I used phrases like "good chance", "hopefully", and "possible". Also, you're using logic, and the sellers I'm hoping will be affected... don't. All it takes is one Google search, and, every so often, someone might get a better deal. It's just a possible benefit from what is an otherise laughable prospect.

I don't see how. I see your point, but, here's mine: If GameStop is selling games at fixed prices, which they always have (even when the were selling NES game in shop), there's a good chance that they are going to lower the ceiling on a lot of games because they want to sell them. That example will be a beacon to all the crap sellers that take a nod from the odd auction they've seen. The whole "offical appraisal" schlock will go out the window. Let's not forget that there are MANY small retro gaming stores that have inflated prices, too. I don't want to see any small business owner put on the street, no matter their pricing structure. Here's a fact, though: If GS remains online only for retro sales, there will always be a market for walk-in businesses. It'll be an upheaval, and one that could be of great benefit in regulating prices, even if only a little bit. Look at it this way, if the endeavor fails for GS, they'll sell off the stock they have cheap. Bottom lin - they are going to do this. It's up to us as a community to adjust to it so it hurts us as little as possible.

NES/SNES Reproductions Available $30-80

Then why not use one of those? I realize the cases are a courtesy - and, like I said before, the value is not lost on me. I was simply volunteering to either procure or design a flashier one for you, just to help out. Like you say, you print it out and put it in - if you;re doing that anyway, why not let someone GIVE you a better one? Regardless, I'll still probably snag a copy. See above. -

Front Loading Atari Flashback II Cartridge Mod
GodzillaIsMyCopilot replied to atariguy1021's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
That's not exactly true in my case. With an item that I can reproduce with readily available components my price is more flexible depending on the number of people interested and the availability of those items. The more of an item that I make the more proficient I become obviously, so that proficiency can be passed on at a lower price, but without the interest the point becomes moot. Nobody has contacted me directly about this item so I would've assumed there wouldn't be much interest for me to make more; that being said I would've definitely taken more than the stated amount if it had been offered, who wouldn't? I don't feel as though I would be gouging anyone considering the time spent accomplishing this mod was likely over 10 hours, plus factor in the cost of the unit along with a new connector from Best Electronics (I believe that a number of you know the hoops that you have to jump through to complete an order from there) and a cartridge guide that came from a dead six switch board. For the future though, I will take note of the general dislike of these types of posts here and simply not offer them. I think you took this in the opposite direction than was intended. I think that $125 is a reasonable price. If I may, HG probably meant that, had you simply stated that in the first place: A) You may have already sold this B) if nothing else, I guarantee you would have gotten more interest. "Make an offer" just turns people oiff, for whatever reason. No one, and I mean NO ONE, wants to cheapen the hard work you put into this - it's really, really good work. Just announce a price and stick with it. Your work appears to be worth it. -
Here's my take: In 1991, I could still get SEALED 1st PARTY Atari games for $0.50 all over the place. Until that hapens again to a format that spans over ten years, the fallout that occured with Atari will always be known as The Crash. It doesn't matter if you're referring to specific companies, media perception (two words: That's Incredible), pubic perception, software availability, or hardware development - ALL of it was affected, regardless of the "main" cause. I wasn't going to say a word about this subject, but I just got sick of seeing a bunch of people in Crash Denial. Oh, the That's Incredible reference: Until a major network TV show holds an independant contest for a few 360 or PS3 games for a large cash prize (MLG doesn't count - it's for the community, by the community), I stand by the point that the early eighties were a WHOLE other ballgame when it came to the public consciouness regarding video games. Today, they are regarded as another entertainment medium, and, in come circles, as viable as TV, or movies. back then, it was a phenomenon - It was such a part of our culture, and a new one, at that. The fallout of the crash wasn't just financial or industry based - it left a scar on society... one that we've fought decades to get back, only to have the phrase "video game" become synonomous with "meh" to most people. So, to those that don't see it as a crash, I just shake my head.

Possible 5200 n00b here - looking for advice
GodzillaIsMyCopilot replied to GodzillaIsMyCopilot's topic in Atari 5200
An 800XL combined with something like the SIO2PC or SIO2SD is your best bet. The only real hangup with the 800XL is that it has to be modded in order to get S-video, as Atari omitted the chroma signal for some reason. The 65XE and 130XE have S-video and most of the benefits of the 800XL, but they're cheaply made in comparison. That's not an issue for me, as I don't use S-Video. I'll start researching the 800XL. -
Okay, TIME OUT. Smoking kills people. You can't argue with that. Smoking has the potential to wreak havoc with video games and memoribilia. We've established that. I realize that the degree to which both phenomena occurs is being debated here, and, while there's nothing wrong with that, I know a thread about to get real when I see one. I smoke. My father died of cancer. I know know the danger. I'm an eBay seller. I protect my items. I despise those who don't. I'm not saying the above becuase I feel slighted by this thread - I'm saying it because those are the things we're going to hear over and over again, until this thread spirals down into a slap fight about lungs. ...this message brought to you by My Coffee Hasn't Breweed Yet.

Clearly, they are of alien origin.

GodzillaIsMyCopilot replied to GodzillaIsMyCopilot's topic in Atari 5200
Yes, but not seriously, as I don;t know enough about them to make an educated decision. I realize that the guts are quite similar, but, I worry that they aren't as readily available is something should fail. -

BTW: Yes I have read this article. -
After seeing this thread, I decided that maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree with a 2600. I'm giving serious thought to swapping out for a 5200. I've seen and heard a lot of horror stories about the controllers, among other things. Obviously, there are a lot of strong supporters for this system out there. What I am looking for is your collective wisdom - I've compiled a list: 1) What's a good rate for a refurbed or A/V modded 5200, and what is the most trusted source? 2) Contollers - which are the most reliable? 3) Games - who's got dupes, and who wants to dump them for cheap? 4) Any advice not covered here?

All the licensed 360 USB accessories should work with the newer 360s, no problem.

Bump. I was just thinking about this since yesterday I purchased a mint, loose, Paper Mario Game Pak. I'm going to need more than 15 though but still don't need anywhere near 100. I can vouch for the Atari fitting. All I do is remove two tiny tabs, and they work well for me - I get my covers over at TheCoverProject.net, or just make my own (case in point: GI Joe Cobra Strike). If you decide not to purchase a case of them, I'd be happy to sell you pre-modded UGCs with covers at a bulk rate. Be aware - shipping on those cases is somewhere in the $20 range, depending on where you are. If I can be of any help whatsoever, let me know.

I think I saw a 40oz Sprite in a Burgertime once.

Is it just me, or do forum posters without SOME kind of profile pictures just seem lazy, and, in some cases, shady? Any forum, any time, anywhere, this has always bugged me. It's the Internet rquivalent of having a known sex offender in your apartment building, IMO.
