  1. I have an Atari 7800 jr., NES, SNES, Genesis, PS2, Dreamcast, Gamecube w/GB player, and an XBox 360 S. I just realized that, between all those consoles, I don;t have ONE SIBGLE PHYSICAL COPY of Donkey Kong. What in the hell is wrong with me?!??!!

Hmm... It'll be a matter of which is most cost effective, but, I will most likely get Donkey Kong CLassics for the NES. I like big carts and I cannot lie - you other gamers can't deny...

I'll put it this way: I have zero love for the Intellivision. :)

  2. One thing that a lot of you may not have stopped to think about is the controller mapping - once the game is started, you could plug in any number of classic controllers. Nostalgia abounds! This thread really fascinates me. I have 2 Genesis', one of which I'm trying to unload, and I never use the damn thing. Classic games being ported could change that.
  3. If this goes strictly homebrew, I'm all for it. Otherwise, I've given it some thought, and I'm not comfortable with it.
  4. I've never even been to your site before, and, frankly, didn;t even know it existed.. I get my artwork from other sources, or make my own. Besides, I don;t sell the artwork - I sell the service of putting cases together. I am a transparent business - I have links to my sources on the site, and encourage people to make their own cases. What I do charge for the folks that decide not to make their own cases covers ink, paper, the cases themselves, and a very small fee for the modification process. I'm not trying to profit from or take credit for the work of others. I'm profiting from the work I put into assembling cases, and that is all I take credit for (if I haven't created the cover myself). That said, I won't be using your artwork. In fact, if people want blank modded cases, I can do that. Then they can put whatever artwork they want in there. Thanks for assuming that my intentions are genuine. ADDITIONAL (Edit): The OP clearly stated that he planned to print his own covers AT HOME for HIS USE. Frankly, there's also a link to the same cases that I use and mod right here in the thread - all the components are here, save one. Here is where you can find open source, free for all, covers for Universal Game Cases for Coleco Vision. I encourage you to make your own cases, but, if you do not want to mess with the mods, let me know.
  5. I finally have the entire Decpetion series in near-mint condition, and in custom DVD cases. W00t. Okay, that only took thirteen years. Next!

  6. And I'll be looking into buying that right now. I over looked this option as I thought it was mostly crap, but that sounds like an amazing time. Uh, me too -what versions of Pacman are we talking about, specifically?
  7. Considering how many loose carts there are out there, I'd say a similar solution designed specifically for Atari 2600/5200/7800, ColecoVision and Intellivision carts would likely sell very well. I mod those cases to fit Atari and ColecoVision carts. I sell them over at www.budgetgamecases.com. I charge very little for bulk orders (over 20), if you don't want to be bothered with modding the cases and handling the artwork yourself (which can be a pain in the neck).
  8. I declare today to be a day free of the words "alignment" and "perfect".

I'm going for the record. 365 days without saying the word "beans." Oops.

That's never an issue for me. My Epson printer's printhead is never in ....

  9. The same can be said for mass production of the cases - it all depends on what demand is.
  10. TO further clarify the point I was making in response to icemanxp300, I can't speak at all for Scream and his plans. What I can directly speak to, however, are the cases I am offering. I propsed DVD-style cases. They're easy, inexpensive, and unmistakably NOT 3DO cases. Between that and the words "reproduction" being plastered all over the place, Odds of these being mistaken for originals is pretty low from where I sit. That said, I'm following this thread closely. If the general consensus is negative, I'm not doing a thing with it. Some people prefer discs, that's all. I get it. Most people want no part of scams. I get it. Get it? EDIT: Yeah, I'm out.
  11. If it is marked as a reproduction, I don;t see the problem. I have several NES reproductions that I couldn't otherwise play on an NTSC system. Granted, this is just meant to be a low cost alternative, but still - big difference between what he's trying to do and bootlegging.
  12. I'd be happy to help you with covers/boxes, but my requirement would be that the CD labels, as well as the artwork would have to say "reporoduction": once on the disc, and twice on the case (front/back). Otherwise, do dice.
  13. Edited second post to reflect a massive reorganization, and one or two additions.
  14. You got farther then I did: First thought: Oh, hey, I need to refill my coffee.
  15. That's where having a 50mb/s connection comes in. The shipping is abysmal, too. A find is rare, but, it's still better than having no alternative.
  16. You don't know how right you are: Goodwill's Auction Site. 9 times out of 10 the auctions are overpriced for both the items and the shipping. Most of the good stuff is going there now. I've gotten some great deals. There are tricks to it, of course. It would seem that the problem is not the way Goodwill is selling, but, rather, the type of buyers they attract - the obsessive, I-have-to-have-this-because-auctions-are-my-hobby type.
  17. Red Dwarf and the last pot of coffee in the house. God damn it, I want some donuts. WHY DON'T DONUT PLACES DELIVER!?!

It's the new US Government issued directive. It's called the "Get off your lazy arse and get them yourself" Act 2012.

  19. No, it's not just your two cents. It's our four cents.
  20. The games that have had the most negative impact on gaming are the ones worth playing that we didn't. Instead of complaining about the megahits that brought megaclones with them (which is a phenomenon that will always occur in mass market), we should be seeking out the unsung classics, and using avenues like this to make sure everyone plays them. After the games, the gamers kill the culture.
  21. Sorry, didn't see this before. That's exactly the understanding I'm looking for - I have absolutely NO desire to unfairly profit here. One part of modding UGCs that most people don;t factor in is the physical pain. I bruised my hand pretty bad with my end nippers on the first 80 or so. Using a Dremel can ruin cases pretty quick, if you aren't careful. Some folks buy CIB for display purposes, adding 100-1000% cost on their collecting budget, which I have never understood. I truly appreciate the open discussion here - it really means a lot. Thanks!
  22. MM5 fetches in upwards of $30, and MM6 can command a $60 price tag. >< I'll eventually get them, but, yeeeesh.
