  1. wikipedia has a decent article on light guns
  2. Yeah, it cost me 2-3 hours one night.
  3. Looks like my website is getting praised on AA again. One thing with the CV controller scheme: look out for that table on the Deathskull archive. The pin order 4,3,2,1 should really be 1,2,3,4
  4. Hey you're right. And the Wayback Machine didn't have a copy either. I wish he had let some other site archive it before pulling the plug.
  5. Keep in mind that the CV controller scheme is very tricky, the controller doesn't connect signals to ground, but to a couple pulsing inputs instead, which is how it does so much with just 9 connections. Deathskull Labs and my site provide more info.

    Atari xe light gun

I've gone to Best and picked up orders, walked through the door and everything. So before the mods lock, I just want to say: OMG your a ......ummm......... writer of well thought-out posts, yeah that's the ticket.

I'm wondering if Rikitiki-tavi here is a troll account for one of the regulars. If not, maybe we should protect Brad at Best from him.

OK, now I understand. The lightgun is a special order because only one Best Buy location stocks it and the Canadian staff probably didn't know. Ask them to call the Alamogordo New Mexico store and grab one from the underground stock room. The light guns are right next to the ET cartridges (order one of those too, great game).
  9. Does the lower right fire button work? If it does, the problems not the system. Both controller must have the same problem.
  10. I'm getting old, it seems like only a short while ago people were scrambling to get a PS2 at launch.
  11. Surprised no one has mentioned Nuon yet. Being able to count the game library on your fingers is never a good thing.
  12. Because the first time a baby laughs, an eprom is born. But when the baby gets older and says "I don't believe in eproms" it drops dead. JM Barrie explained it all in Peter Pan.
  13. Sounds good. I was almost finished with a halfway universal Wavebird adapter last year but took a break and haven't got back to it yet. Maybe when my job has a Thanksgiving shutdown. All the needed info is on line, you just need to pull it together. One tidbit that confused me at first: the SNES only uses a few bits from the second shift register, but the unused ones still need to be in a certain state (forgot if it was high or low).
  14. Maybe it's from being a parent, but when I see TB, I think tuberculosis
  15. Output: "Thank you Mr IC, you're looking great, have you lost weight? May I have another input when you're ready?"
  16. I'm getting confused guys, did you mean 74265? My circuit (halfway stolen from Kevin Horton) didn't use a 74256.
  17. Obsolete? It's still over-the-counter in Silicon Valley Actually, I'm slowly learning PIC programming right now and I'm thinking I did things the hard way all these years. Digikey has a nice $50 Microchip starter kit if anyone else wants to take the plunge
  18. I do, onto a 90 inch screen. What's funny is that 8-bit stuff doesn't look that bad, 16 and 32 bit games seem worse. 5200 Space Dungeon and Robotron plus Jaguar Protector are current favorites. And definitely buy "The Incredibles" on dvd if you don't have it yet, all Pixar stuff is good.
  19. There's an s-video cable for the Saturn also. People say composite is better for Sat and PSX, but I like sharpness. Can always take my glasses off to "fuzz" things up
  20. My favorite DPC quote is "not quite a co-processor, but getting close"
  21. If someone doesn't want to get a trackball but still needs a keyboard, the easiest way is to do Rob Mitchell's 2600 keyboard conversion: 2600>5200 keyboard
  22. That's what's strange, VR works on the Nomad but the PBC and 32X won't. I've been wanting to investigate the whole issue for a few years now, but always had other things going on. Also some Gen2 models have the reduced chipset like the Gen3 just one chip different, but I think they are compatible, was tracing the schematics out but got distracted. It MIGHT be possible to make a Gen3 fully compatible, just for the challenge of doing it.
