  1. Hardly. Jaynz confirmed that Best can actually deliver exactly what GB tried to claim they couldn't. Not only is he being rudely condescending to current and potential customers, but he's flat out lying about parts suppliers ability to deliver. The guy said that people who don't travel to the UK to go to tiny retro game shows aren't putting in enough "effort". WTF is that?
  2. Or gameplay of any of Grooveybee's forthcoming XM games that only people in Yugoslavia got to see. In the age of Youtube and internet video streaming, still screenshots of video games are useless to me.
  3. From what I understand, the H2 won't need actual Pokey chips, because the plan is to emulate Pokey in the FPGA itself like they did with the Pitfall II DPC chip in the original Harmony.
  4. I've never had a single problem receiving anything I've ordered from Best, on time or earlier than I expected, well packaged, and with great, communicative customer service. When the XM team reaches that level of delivery quality, you can criticize them. Until then, this is just bad form.
  5. Post a video on Youtube. It's Free Advertising. a good number of the people on this board are in the US (most, I would imagine) and aren't going to pay $1500+ airfare just to see some game previewed on unfinished hardware.
  6. They can be bought from Best Electronics.http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/custom-i.htm
  7. Completely aware. I own a copy of Beef Drop VE (the one without pokey). You don't have to take the Pokey out of Ballblazer or Commando carts. Those are carts you can find them in, yes. But Curt and his team aren't doing that for the Pokey chips they're putting in the XM. They're ordering them.
  8. Tia sound indeed sucks compared to pokey, but pokey can be done without the XM.
  9. For those who suggested Curt might be offline due to Hurricane Sandy: Nope. http://google.org/crisismap/2012-sandy He's in Carmel, NY which is more than an hour upstate from NYC and nowhere near the coast. He may have lost power for a day or so when the storm hit, but that was nearly 2 weeks ago.
  10. Since the XBOARD works with it, already exists, and is infinitely cheaper to reproduce, why not have someone make a push to release more of them as an alternative to the potential that the XM never ships or gets delayed another year?
  11. Until recently when you stepped in to try and even things about (rightly so, thank you), certain moderators who shall remain nameless were gleefully editing and deleting posts about this project that were disparaging - even when they were true. Some people were even put on moderator preview or banned altogether for speaking ill of the XM, Curt, or others involved in the project. Sure, some of them may have had a history of being malcontents, but the impetus of these bannings/mod preview status was this project. I think the thing about the treatment of this project here that is most troubling is the revisionist history being purported by it's supporters. Not you Albert, but others.
  12. I don't know about the money first hand, but just based on the number of pre-orders that have been talked about, it's at least $15,000, but probably closer to $20,000. The XM project began the design phase in 2009, and began taking pre-orders in 2010 when the first plastics and beta boards (if one chooses to believe they actually exist) were thrown together. As for the gang mentality, - on the surface it would seem quite unfair. But having read up quite a bit on this subject because I am interested in it, there's a pretty long and detailed history on this board of dissatisfaction with Curt being able to deliver numerous projects and products he's taken money from people for on time, or sometimes at all. Combine that with 2+ years of delays from when he started taking money, it can be pretty damn frustrating for the users. Those users deserve to have a place to express their concern. But the fact that certain members this site was actively protecting Curt by removing or editing disparaging (but true) posts about him and the project, and apparently banning people for venting their frustrations - the piling on seems apropos. a Number of vocal supporters of the project used to go on for pages and pages shouting people down for any perceived slight. This is just the appropriate comeuppance for allowing THAT kind of bullying behavior to exist here.
  13. I would spend $30 for a loose copy of Commando and gladly hack up a cart for DK Arcade if it meant I didn't have to wait for something that looks like it might never see the light of day. Also - would it be feasible to do this with a PAL Commando cart? Because there's way more of them available.
  14. Well, he did take everybody's lunch money.
  15. banning people for talking bad about someone who absconds with customer's money? wow.
  16. Shameless. I'm very interested in playing DK Arcade and that Bentley Bear game on real hardware, but this is just sad. I'm not throwing a single penny into that gaping sinkhole until it ships.
  17. How hard would it be to implement The US Arcade version screen order? I like the Japan screen order, but it's kinda easy to beat on normal.
  18. Also - Since this is one of the very few home versions of DK to feature all 4 original Arcade screens, maybe having all 4 screenshots might be a better use of all that unused white space.
  19. My only objection to that box is the use of a many game system generations later version of Mario on the back. Since this is an attempt to make the game as Arcade-perfect as possible on the 7800, I would think sticking with Arcade-era only box art would be a more time-appropriate direction.
