  1. Took me a while but I finally came back to Death Race (or 'Death Chase' as I've renamed it for my version). It will soon be finished and released on cartridge for Vectrex alongside 'NOX' - a version of Ataris sprint. Video here :
  2. Ah, that's a result of a non-centered joystick as I'm using analog controls for the stick. I'll increase the deadzone a bit more next time.
  3. Hehe yeah I believe my earlier game "Nagoya Attack" had the honour of being the first Vectrex game with music and sfx. Hint : For high scores, use a spinner in Port 2
  4. "Hex", a little game I knocked up yesterday. It uses joystick/buttons or a spinner/atari driving controller in port 2. Press 4 on the Vectrex joystick to start. Video : Free ROM attached. HEXa2.BIN <edit> Updated binary with ability to continue (within 4 'levels' of where you left off)
  5. Hi retroillucid, I'm afraid the order has gone to manufacturing now. US/Canada orders were handled by Sean Kelly. I think around 1,100 shells are going to the US. I have ordered a stock of 3000 shells for europe but they are mostly allocated already. Once stock is in hand, I'll get back to you if there are a spare 100 shells but if you were to buy those you'd have to pay shipping from UK->US I'm afraid. I'm selling them at cost to developers so no discounts are possible/necessary.
  6. Me too, they look great Richard. Much easier print than http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:49302
  7. Yes, standard shells, same as 99% of Vectrex carts out there. Richard, yes VecMulti is a superb flashcart. Sorry we can't offer shells but its out of our control. If you are 3D printing them it's going to be quite a marathon print session.
  8. The owner of the mold produces his own multicart.
  9. Attention Vectrex developers (or future developers/builders of repro carts etc)! I am currently looking into a group-buy for Vectrex cartridge shells. We are looking to get the best possible price on them so if you are interested in ordering shells can you please post here with your name, the number of shells you require (lets say a minimum of 100 units per developer) and your location. I am afraid we cannot supply shells to flash cart/multicart builders. *edit* Please also indicate if you require PCBs too (eeprom type - the use 32k or 64k chips like the PCBs Jon Dondzila used to supply) Thanks, Chris
  10. Another vote for the PAL Commodore 64 release. Awesome conversion, got a lot of play in my house back in the day.
  11. Off the top of my head : Best : Galaga '88/'91 (PC Engine) Gaplus (C64) Worst : Double Dragon (2600) Double Dragon (C64)
  12. A bit unbalanced at the moment I admit ,hehe. You can definately get higher than level 4 though, you just need to time your shots well 16 levels at the moment, then it loops.
  13. I posted a Vectrex WIP beta here : http://atariage.com/forums/topic/213588-vectrex-nagoya-attack-wip/ Inspired by Taitos Minivader test board.
  14. A beta version of one of a few Vectrex games I'm working on at the moment. Feedback appreicated. It's a little rough around the edges at the mo and could do with optimisation and some balancing of the levels but it should be playable enough. Single life survival game inspired by Taitos Minivader tester board. Video : NA_BETA1.BIN
  15. I have a playable Death Race programmed on Vectrex now No horizontal option as yet but I may add that in later. Expect a free download rom and (expanded version) cart release in the not-too-distant future.
  16. Proper pinball is always going to be expensive to buy/produce (due to the amount of indivual parts used - typically thousands) so I dont think you will ever see tabletop machines as you described but I'd love to see one. I also dont really think a market exists for such a thing to be honest. People who play pinball casually (in bars etc) are probably quite happy playing 'The Pinball Arcade' on their iPads/PS3s/etc and the hardcore own one or more real tables. If you want one bad enough, you'll find space. I have a pinball machine in my place and I have a lot less room than you!
  17. I have an 'Astro Shooter' and its little brother the 'Atomic Arcade Pinball'. Astro shooter/american pinball is the best out there that I've seen/played (at least there are a few shots that are tricky and provide big score) but if you have the space I'd recommend skipping buying one of these and save up for a proper machine if you want pinball.
  18. Hadn't noticed there had been some response to this, thanks for your advice. Christopher - I had figured regular reads broken up within the frame would probably be the best bet for this. Thanks for the advice, I will likely stick to using the analog stick if I cannot get satisfying results with the trackball. As far as items on screen, the 'centipede' parts become bombs which quickly fall down the screen so its never filled with too many objects. I will likely get back to this soon (working on another game) , I'll let you know how I get on with doing as you suggested. ledzep - there are two types of cx80 - one that uses grey code like an atari st mouse and the (i think more common) one that i have that indicates direction and movement on two axes using two pins each 0/1 or direction and 0/1 patterns for each 'click'. Both use the 4 vectrex buttons to read the data, I have programmed this to read trackball movement in port 2 and the standard vectrex controller (for fire/pause) in port 1. Hope that makes sense.
  19. The raspberry pi handles softsynths pretty well, the drivers for the inbuilt audio aren't great but they work, you can always use a USB soundcard to avoid problems. I'm running raspbian+pure-data as a midi sound-module @ 25ms latency using a cheap USB midi cable.
  20. 'Tailgunner mode' is a new mode, not the game "Tailgunner". Just that instead of shooting from the front of your ship, you shoot from the tail. Making the game more challenging.
  21. I love the GB version of Dropzone, classic game.
  22. Of course screen size affects the size of the pixels.
  23. As I understand it, the Vectrex Regeneration guy has purchased worldwide rights to use the Vectrex name and software catalog. I'm guessing titles like Pole Position, Scramble etc have also been licensed from Namco, Konami and whoever owns Cinematronics IP. IMO they should have charged for game packs rather than just the megapack option. Glad this is now running on my iPad 1/iCade but nothing beats the real thing (sat next to my iCade).
