I've been using our quarantine time to better organize my stuff. I have a few boxes of stuff I haven't opened in over 20 years. Was pleasantly surprised to find this heavy sixer in one of the boxes. I probably didn't know what a heavy sixer was when I packed it! I'm a little confused because this one says it was manufactured in El Paso but I thought the heavy sixers came from Sunnyvale.

    CX22 is a Trak-Ball, not a Heavy Sixer console ;)

"Police Academy 4" - In the background in the warehouse is a box of a 520 ST

"Terminator 2" - The Portfolio scenes should be widely known ;-)

  5. Anyone have any hints?  I'm taking apart a STacy for the first time.  I gather that the LCD cover assembly needs to be taken apart and the hinges unscrewed to be able to lift the main casing and access the insides.

I've got all the accessable screws out, I have the LCD cover 90% split - can't seem to get the part by the hinge assembly apart.  All the case snaps are also off.

The top and bottom halves of the main casing move freely except for the back right corner (looking at the unit closed from the front) where the drive bays are.

Kind of stuck now, I don't want to break pieces of the casing.

    Hi,

behind the Stacy label under the display are hidden two screws. Then you can lift the cover. Disconnect all wires, unscrew the left suspension, pass all wires through the right suspension (the one with the smallest connectors first, one you can't pass through it, it has to be disconnected from mainboard later), than you can lift off the display.

The back right corner of the Stacy is a bit difficulty - try and try again, sometime it will lift off.

It's not only the Germans that want to go tho this event

    That's right - and everyone's welcome.

The past years events with the name "Classic Computing" were, more or less, meetings of friends and collectors of legendary, exotic, old computers. These collectors have the opinion, that without these veterans of Pentium and co. the today's hightech machines will not be possible.

The "Verein zum Erhalt klassischer Computer e.V." (Assoziation for preservation of classic computers) were founded, to preserve and show these, at that time ultramodern computers to fan municipalties and others who are interested.

Come to the next "Classic Computing" and smolder towards long times ago. Play the old games you've played night after night. Enjoy a few hours of nostalgic with this, from our short-living technical world, forgotten computers.

Maybe you are in ownage of an old, wonderful computer and are searching for accessories or a possibility to repair the oldie. Our flea market offers the possibility to buy some spare parts. Our specialists staying during the event at your side and will help solving your problem.

See the classics live, show your game fate, admire also the machines you've worked with or made the first steps into the computer era.

Come to a journey in the past of the digital data processing.

The members of the assoziation presenting you the different parts of the computer world.

This year on 24th and 25th September in Neubulach (Northern Black Wood Forest, Germany). More information at http://www.classic-computing.de (german)

    We are pleased for visitors

The entry will cost 2,50 €

What would I do without Babelfish 8) :D

  8. There's some info on the 2080st in the latest Best (I believe Revision 10) catalog.  I remember reading about it.  I know it was only released overseas, but it was indeed an "Atari" built product.  It isn't considered a prototype since it was an official release.  At least that's what the catalog said.

I'm in the process of unpacking from a move, but once I did out the catalog I can let you know the verbage on it if you don't already have one.

    870234

    Would be nice ;)

It's amazing how all this special stuff never ends up in North America :(. (Slovenia seems like an odd market for a 2MB ST though, no?)

    870500

I'd say not really odd - after the revolution the east-european countries were a really big market :) And for the ST Europe was the main market. The Atari computers are there still very popular ;)

  9. Hi folks,

something crazy about the Atari 2080 ST computer:

    http://retrospec.sgn.net/users/tomcat/2080/

    http://www.atari-computermuseum.de/phpBB2/...topic.php?t=708 (German)

    Today's posting:

    A little bit more info:

The 2080 STf I have was official sold by the only Atari dealer in Slovenia "Mladinska Knjiga". It was special built for this market with the totally blue label (front sticker) and the plastic serial-no. plate. I've contacted another user through the newsgroups, he has also a 2080STf, it's identically to mine and he had buyed himself. Therefore it's an official Atari that was sold here in Slovenia.

The label looks odd - the Fuji and the 2080ST isn't metal - as it is in that picture:

    2080st.jpg

The keyboard is in german layout (QWERTZ), but the TOS (1.00) is english.

My question is: Was it real built from Atari, special for the slovenian (former yugoslavian) market or is that a homemade 2080 ST.

    Regards

    Mike
